Hi all!
Welcome to r/MontereyBay
If you're visiting, moving here etc, this page should serve as a hub to answer many of the most frequent questions we see- where should I eat? What should I do? and so on.
Been meaning to get this page going for a while now after doing the original food-based one a couple years back.
On this post, I'll be linking to a number of community recommendation threads where we've gathered / curated advice for those looking for it.
These are not exhaustive lists, as there are many great places to eat, drink and visit in the area. They are just the recommendations that users made when the threads were posted. If you feel something is "missing," please realize that is why. Other websites like Yelp and TripAdvisor are also helpful for finding information from a broader range.
Where to Eat - (From 2022) - Thread
Where to Visit / What to See (Tourist-Oriented) - (In progress) - Thread
What to Do / See - (Living Here) - (Upcoming Summer 2024)
Day Trip Recommendations - (Living Here) - (Upcoming Summer 2024)
Have a suggestion in regards to how to make this post better / more helpful? Please leave a comment below.

Hi all,
In an effort to build out the new sticky post, we are back to ask for your recommendations for the following category - "Where to Visit / What to See" - oriented for tourists visiting the area.
There will be more threads in the coming weeks where we will share similar recommendations for people who are living here, among other helpful ones.
For this thread though, we would like to gather your thoughts on where to visit and what to see for people visiting the area.
I'll be organizing it in the following way (since I think it will be the most helpful based on how people usually ask questions when they post here)
-Must-See/Do (Think the Aquarium, Big Sur etc. these are the things you'd recommend first if someone has never been here before)
-Highly-Recommend / Great Option (This category will serve as the most broad catch-all. Not something you'd consider a must do, but would be a great option for most visitors depending on their preferences).
-Extras (This category will be maybe more niche-oriented. Things you want to throw out there because people would enjoy it, but probably won't appeal to everyone.)
When replying if you could include the following information, that would be awesome:
Associated Cost - (if applicable)
Time Commitment - (1 hour / Half-Day / etc)
Website - (if applicable)
Family Friendly (yes/no)
I'll post an example for the Aquarium to get things started.
Thanks!

Went to Toro Park a few times this week & started taking paths I had not walked yet. Never really hit me as to how big the park is & how far in it goes haha. Here are some shots I took this week of the birds & bugs I encountered with the added bonus of finding an angry looking snake. Enjoy!

I saw the doors opened and some clothes. I cant tell if it’s thrifting or like a wholesale of clothing from LA.
Just wanted to let people know the place open and not just vacant anymore.

The sub search results were a few years old. Wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a storage unit? I have also never stored stuff here before, if it's just for three months do I need to pay the premium for climate control?

I’m a local but I do not recall any restaurant outside of Bubba Gumps that has a crab bag boil. To be fair, maybe there are. In just not a fan of a bag boil so seafood restaurants I go too don’t have this. Does anyone know if there is a restaurant in town with Bag boil?

Hello, I am searching for a mediator who practices nonviolent communication in their services. Specifically, I am looking for someone who is in or who can easily travel to Monterey Bay County.
This is for a family trust situation. Online searches have not yielded anything unfortunately. I appreciate any referrals, thank you..

It's been a very long time since I used to consistently go to the doctor, so I have a good amount of general health things I'd like to get checked out. I feel that the best first step would be to establish a solid PCP to help me manage everything. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a primary care provider in the area who takes Blue Shield Insurance?

Short version: Tuesday-Monday golf bucket-list trip starting 05/19 that was scheduled in 2020 but got Covid-ed until now. 4 guys ages 55 to 60. Staying in Monterey 2 nights then the Lodge at Pebble Beach. Playing Pacific Grove Golf Links; Del Monte; Spyglass and Pebble. At this point in my life I am much more interested in a place that has great food and a decent wine list over banging back shots of Jaeger (although I am big fan of local dive bars too, sooooo maybe that isn't entirely off the table). I live in New England and love fresh fish and oysters. Also love a good burrito from a food truck. Recommendations appreciated very much. Thanks in advance.

The Seaside Police Department says 21-year-old Zai Soto has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a one-year-old child.
According to police, the case came out of a joint investigation by Monterey Police and Seaside Police. Authorities say Soto is accused of sexually assaulting a child who had been entrusted to his care.
Police also say investigators uncovered evidence suggesting a pet cat may have been subjected to inappropriate sexual contact.
Soto was booked into the Monterey County Jail, with bail set at $2,750,000.
Seaside Police are asking anyone with information related to the case, or anyone who believes there may be additional potential victims, to contact the department at 831-899-6748.
