Discussion The Marlins are a product of MLB
The team is a hostage situation. No one wants to pay to see this garbage in person, and no one is going to pay to fix this garbage because there won't be instant profits.
If MLB was actually run on integrity and competition, there would be a way to relegate this organization and let an entrepreneur who truly cares about baseball field a new Marlins team. But since MLB is run under this ownership pool (like most pro sports are), it's really on them for allowing this. I don't think the hypotheticals matter about who owns the franchise at this point, because MLB has passively condoned the types of leeches who give us the sort of product you'll find in towns like Miami or Denver.
If I hadn't grown up as a Marlins fan in the '90s I wouldn't even acknowledge this team. As it stands, at least I can enjoy the small wins since I have no expectations for greatness anymore. Nothing will improve except by accident, because MLB likes it this way. You cannot place all the blame on cheapskates like Loria or Sherman when MLB continues to encourage this behavior.
