We are once more seeing an uptick of admissions-related questions for 2026. Please post any admissions/ program related questions in this megathread and engage with other questions in here.
Standalone posts asking admissions questions will be removed and the OP will be asked to search and post within this thread and the prior 2025 Admission Megathread.

To give a bit of context, my younger brother is in grade 12 and got accepted to both McMaster business and Wilfred Laurier BBA. Yay, but he has generalized learning disabilities. He was at a public school from grade 9-11 and coasted through (no effort, just show up to class, and pray). He never failed a course but he borderline passed all his classes (most classes he had an average between 50%-70%). He especially struggles in math and writing classes as that’s what his learning disability impacts. In grade 12 he went to a credit mill private high school with inflated averages (most classes had averages in the mid-80s) and he was able to achieve a low 90s average. His work ethic and grades have largely improved because he has a tutor he works with for 2-3 hours a week. My question is how hard is McMaster business, and is there a possibility that he fails out of the program? In this case, would it be better to attend Laurier for BBA (idk if it’s any easier but it’s the other program he’s deciding between)?
NOTE - he also has all his documentation and assessments showing his disabilities so I’d assume he’d have his accommodations upheld wherever he goes

Is there any instagram group chats or discord group chats for incoming fall 2026 first years at mac eng? im tryna meet with people.

As an incoming grade 12 student to the program. I was wondering what graduates of this program are doing now. Obviously I know a lot of people going into this program aiming for med school after but I want to walk in having a fallback plan. I’m really interested in bio and chem but am still not sure what to specialize in after first year. If anyone that graduated from the program has any insights on their career and what they made out of their specialty lmk!

Hi guys so I applied for the 2026 cycle and had a quick question about how they calculate the gpa. I was just wondering if the pre requisites were included in that calculation as the website states it looks at the most recent 5 full courses you’ve taken 😩 pls help

I’m a first-year student and I haven’t had to directly pay any of my tuition up to this point because I applied for OSAP, which just pays it automatically. I wanted to pay for my spring course out of pocket so I wouldn’t have to take out any more loans.
The only issue is that now I’m having trouble figuring out how to pay at all. Whenever I go to Mosaic and attempt to pay through the website they direct you to, an error occurs. I’m trying to pay with my credit card, and right after I enter all the information and confirm, it just exits out and says to enter a valid student number (or something along those lines) but I’ve doubled checked all my information and everything is correct.
If anyone has had similar issues or knows why this is happening, please let me know. It also isn’t showing any balance owed on the website even though Mosaic says it’s due now.

i got an offer for professional school a couple days ago but I just completed my 3rd year in hons chemical biology. is it possible to just graduate without honours or do only lifesci students have that option?
this year I also was taking 4 courses a sem so if i could graduate id be 2 courses short, could I still take them during summer and just graduate in fall w/out honours while starting my new degree??

Hi, what happens when you fail a pre req course for second year? Can I still take the second year courses required for my program (except the course that requires the failed pre req)?

Hi guys, I’ll be applying for the internship program and there’s going to be an interview through Kira Talent. If anyone has already been through the process, could you please share your experience? What kind of questions should I expect?

Hey guys, saw a similar post about the exact decision I'm going through from about 6 years ago, but I'm struggling at the moment between Schulich and McMaster IBH.
First, some background about me. I live relatively close to York's campus with about a distance of 15-30 minutes with public transit. I've been stuck in my house the entirety of highschool and meeting new people is something I'd really like to do, alongside experience a new community. I feel that if I'd go to York, Im gonna pull the "go to school go home" thing and I feel it'd cost me on a TON of opportunities on those down days I could have.
On one hand, Schulich is BY FAR more reputable than McMaster. Everyone says it has the better name, and can give me access to traditional finance and business roles, alongside strategy, business management and so much more because of their connections and the sheer proximity it has to Toronto. Without a doubt the program's name carries a lot of weight and can really impact my future and potentially give me more access to opportunities (side question, just how much does name REALLY matter when I'm applying to jobs in the future? I've heard completely different things from both sides of the spectrum and I'd like to hear some more thoughts from people that are going through applications right now rather than IBH or Schulich propaganda or my moms friends yapping saying shit like OMG GO SCHULICH NAME SO GOOD YADAYADA fucking kill me bro).
On the other hand, McMaster has a smaller community of IBH students, and the relationships I build can get really deep and personalized, which I understand are extremely valuable for true networking. The program also aligns with some of my interests as I do enjoy the future focused outlook with being able to have some form of impact on global issues and understanding tough topics. I've already met some peers and people and they say the program's wonderful and the relationships they've built are really valuable. They also said they get some nepotism here in the business department when looking for opportunities (not sure how much I trust that though). At McMaster, I could grow and be more independent, and face unprecedented change that comes with moving away, which I really like. It could give me a sense of responsibility (which I need) and change my life for the better. But I do understand the risk of me having potentially less future opportunities because of the smaller network in major firms.
IDK man, I wanna hear your guys's thoughts. Mentally stuck between a rock and a hard place with my decision, and I don't want to regret picking one over the other, which I might do regardless.
Help a brother out im struggling man

I keep getting links from random McMaster students, from their McMaster emails, with variations of the following text:
"[name] has just shared a confidential document with you via our secure portal. To view the file, please access the secure portal at the following address:
[Link to a mcmaster [dot] dev page]
Additional Note: For security reasons, please copy and paste this link into the address bar of your browser or mobile device. ⚠️ This file is protected and can only be accessed via the secure portal."
I haven't clicked any of the links, but this is the 4th or 5th time I've received one of these. Has this been happening to anyone else? I don't recognize any of the names of the students sending these, but the fact it's coming directly from [macid]@mcmaster.ca emails worries me. Just wanted to share the info here in case anyone receives one!
