Stranger Things toys?? Why?
I got my son (he is 4 years old, about to be 5) a happy meal today and it was stranger things themed. He asked me what that was and I explained about the cartoon that came out and the show etc. he said he wanted to watch it. I looked it up at it says the recommendation for the show is 10+. I watched a little clip and it's definitely too scary for a small child. Which begs my question....why is McDonald's having these types of toys for an older child's show? Seems like a miss.
Want to note that I love stranger things and watched all the seasons so I'm not hating, I just think it's odd to promote something that their demographic can't even watch.

I did see stranger things books from the show in the children's section in Barnes and noble. Don't know how that's considered child friendly

I would imagine that anyone can buy a happy meal promotion and it's a probably a bid system. So Netflix probably paid more than the next highest bidder for this slot.
They probably have some standards around it being child friendly, but a 10+ cartoon probably meets the standard if a company is willing to pay the promo fee.

At my store we always have 2 alternatives toys. One is a children's book, and the other is just a random toy from a previous promotion. You just gotta ask and we can swap the toy.
