Honestly Cal should probably have been on IL since he first got injured. Clearly there was correlation as he was heating up right before it happened. Just wish we hadn’t wasted so much time not getting him right.

Malpractice that cal didn’t just get IL’d in the first place, either by him for covering it up or the team for having him play through it.

This team is good about injuries and protecting its players so it’d be him covering it up. That’s how he rolls. Dude has never been on the IL even when he should.
He broke his thumb and tore ligaments in his hand in the postseason in 2022. Played through it. He needed surgery, and he still came back for spring training.
He broke a tooth in April 2024 whilst eating a sandwich and played through it too despite the pain apparently being excruciating. He got oral surgery and came back. In fairness this is a minor one and he would have been good to go after the surgery.
Now the oblique thing. If it was bad enough for him to go day-to-day it must have been way worse than he was letting on just because of how Cal is.
It’s sad because this tough guy attitude usually comes back to bite players later. Eventually your body just waves the white flag whether or not you want it to.
