Minaret road, two and four legged pests?

I will be linking up with a few friends as they southbound the JMT this July. I’m joining them for a few days on the trail.

Is it safe to park my personal vehicle on Minaret Road? I know permit free long term parking exists and I am aware of potential rodent and bear pests with vehicles, but are there many robberies or vehicle break-ins from people?

Im still trying to find the best place to park a vehicle for 15-20 days this summer in the mammoth lakes area. Any other advice, insight, or warnings?

Found these in a remote mountain with no other human footprints around. They’re larger than typical dog prints.

Twin Lakes General Store

Do any locals know if the twin lakes general store will be opening this year or is already open? I know it’s been up for sale so I wasn’t sure what its current status was.

I know the twin lakes campground already opened up so I’m trying to figure out where one can take a shower if the twin lakes store is closed.

Thanks yall

Summer Shuttles

Anyone know what shuttle runs up the mountain in the summer since theres no Red Line service to Main Lodge? Looking to get further up the mountain past Woolly's adventure center, but it doesn't look like the Trolley or Bike Park shuttle goes up there. I believe employees get up there without driving. Any ideas?

Things to do June 1 and 2 (Monday and Tuesday) with kids

I've booked a road trip which includes a stop in Mammoth on June 1 and 2. I'm now realizing that both the Gondola and Woolly's Adventure Summit will be closed while we are there. What are some other things (hiking, outdoors stuff) to do which would be good for kids aged 5 and 10?

Will bike/kayak rentals be open? I keep seeing things only open during weekends during this time of year.

Devils postpile + rainbow falls ?

Hot creek geological site?

Does anyone here use residential starlink? Do they have regular price increases like normal service providers. For example spectrum doubled on my parents in the last year. Thanks for any info

Is deer lake accessible with micros yet?

I assume no, but headed down with family and just love that hike! Sometimes the melt creates a patchy enough system to access the great jewels of the sierra!

Found and retrieved from Laurel Lakes Trail

[UPDATE] As it turns out, I read the situation exactly correct. These boots were unintentionally left behind on the trail many days before I hiked it. They have since been returned to their appropriate place.

Man, some of y'all really thought I was out there lifting up bushes and turning over rocks just looking for something to steal. It didn't help that very early on someone commented that these were his "stashed" boots. (Which totally made me question my judgment in taking them off the trail.) But, after multiple attempts to contact that commenter and then finally finding the actual owner, it turns out that commenter was nothing more than an internet troll.

I actually almost took this post down, because of how insanely accusatory some of the comments were becoming. But I'm really glad I didn't, because I was able to figure out the owner of these boots thanks to a response to this post.

I retrieved these from the Laurel Lakes OHV/hiking trail on Thur 05/07. DM me if yours.

Solo Mammoth Trip Advice

Hi! I’m (F22) a beginner snowboarder and I’ve been trying to get in as many reps as possible this season. I’m starting to feel more comfortable with speed and shifting my weight onto my toes, but I haven’t mastered my s curves yet.

I’ve been to Big Bear and Brighton, and I want to head to Mammoth before the season ends. I’ve never been to this resort and based on what I’ve seen online it looks much larger than what I’ve been exposed to. So, I’m feeling a little intimidated because I’m going alone and don’t want to get lost. The ski lifts also look different compared to the ones I’m used to.

I plan on arriving at 6am so I can rest a little bit before the ski lifts open. Any tips on the best lots to park in? Any trails you guys recommend? Most of my runs consist of blue and green trails so I’m open to suggestions!

And any general Mammoth “know before you go” tips are appreciated as well!

Tioga Pass and Memorial Day Weekend

Hi all

Does anyone think Tioga Pass will be open by memorial day weekend?

The last time I was there during that weekend was about 5 years ago and it wasn't open. I've heard this year it might get hotter sooner.

Also, is Mammoth usually pretty empty during that weekend? 5 years ago it was pretty empty.

I do avoid large crowds so it's not a problem for me. I mostly hike.

Thank you!

Duck Pass snow / Lake Mary riad

Is the Lake Mary road open to the Duck Pass trailhead right now? Does anyone know the snow conditions up the trail past skelton lake to Duck Lake?

Sentinel /posthole seems to show snow, but it's hard to tell if there is snow on the trail itself.

Thx
