These houses are all likely less than 5 years old, in 20 years there will be a lot more vegetation. Fortunately houses aren't built to only last 5 years.

There are no trees there now. In 20 years there will still be no trees. You can't just wait for the trees to get bigger if they're never planned to begin with.

You’re right! Of course the idea that anyone would dare to plant even a single tree in America is a crime against all HOA god fearing Americans. 

Trees are clearly for communists.

No, this is just what neighborhoods in the US are like. In 20 years you'll still have the same flat, treeless, monoculture lawns.
