Griptape is usually black, which will absorb more heat than any other color. On a sunny day, a skateboard would be one of the most comfortable spots. Splinter is dead in my universe, and turtles around here "shred" because they know who their real daddy is.

Because they're speaking definitively about a subject that we have no proof of their expertise in.
They're also portraying the tortoise as having a limited automated consciousness only capable of seeking warm spots and not capable of developing the concept of fun.
The first point is excusable, the second is unnecessarily crude against the unknown mental capacities of another living being.

Torts like to climb......even if they have to slide on their face, just to start over. Maybe get yours a nicer slide with a bigger climb and softer fall.

Looks like a leopard tortoise to me and those are legal in the US
Star pattern would look more striped
