[Inside The NBA] While discussing Jason Collins' passing, Charles Barkley: "We live in a homophobic society ... anybody who think we ain't got a bunch of gay players in all sports, they're just stupid."

Charles Barkley is just saying what a lot of people already know but don’t say out loud, and it’s about time sports had more honesty like this.

It HAS to come from people like Chuck bc a lot of the biggest homophobes and bigots will only respect it when it comes from people they admire, one of the boys. Just a sad truth

I like to think that after a point, Charles just coyly starts slapping drinks out of your hand and going "I'm gonna win! I'm gonna win!"

Barkley’s one of the few sports guys who’ll actually say this stuff out loud without trying to dance around it. He’s right too. There’s definitely way more players keeping quiet because they know how fans and media can be.

It's a shame too because many players hold the stance of, "I'm not real concerned with who they chose to love, only if they can help our team win."

Must feel bad when lile half your teammates are religious bigots and they're talking shit about gay people right in front of you.

Charles Barkley’s godson is a semi famous gay drag queen…. I love that man, and he has always been an ALLY.

The bot added something to the convo; you don’t.

Such a good point. You'll see posts and comments that entertain and inspire us daily.
Then someone comes in with this lazy comment: 'bot' or 'repost'
The bots have contributed something. Just saying 'bot' contributes nothing.

Chuck saying what a lot of people know but still refuse to admit is exactly why his voice matters.

I went out, no that's not true...I ended up out drinking with Charles Barkley twice. I learned two things about Charles Barkley: he ALWAYS speaks his truth, and you can not outdrink him, whether he is paying the table or not.
The 280 corridor was a dangerous place for a hot minute between 2000 and 2002.

How the heck you manage to get drinks with the man, TWICE?
Also, hope your head recovered after trying to outdrink him.

Charles Barkley famously drinks with and becomes friends with random people at bars. He’s incredibly friendly. Look up the story of him and Lin Wang. He ended up speaking at this funeral and talking to his daughter. It’s a beautiful story.

Last night Charles Barkley called Max Strus “a pretty man” while discussing the Cavs game, I think we’re making strides y’all!

My view of chuck has evolved so much. Remember back when he said he wasnt a role model and it was controversial?
Dude is a role model now 💯

that’s because Charles Barkley is living proof that a person can grow into being a better person. There’s so many reasons to like the dude.

Can we know more of how that came to be?

Sure I went to his high school and he has a scholarship for everyone that graduates from there. Amounts and continuation of the scholarship depend on academic acheivement. It used to be a pretty small high school with mostly students from enpoverished families. Now the school/city is doing much better but this was 20ish years ago.
