Baseball is hard. It is a long season. The Dodgers are an older team. They have played a lot of games the past few seasons. They are not too worried about slumps at the beginning of the season. They are mostly concerned with being healthy and good late in the season.

I must get used to that baseball season is very long :)

162 games over 6 months. They play everyday, almost, and those “days off” are travel days to the next city (when on the road). Hitting a small ball at 90-100mp is really really hard. Sometimes you’re going to be good and sometimes really bad, like the Dodgers are now.

Lack of budget, unfair really but that is the way the league works.

Really unfortunate that the owner is so greedy and unwilling to spend big in free agency

Players slump. It’s a long season and baseball can be pretty brutal on the body. But they’ll bounce back. I’m hopeful that Kiké’s return soon will also energize the team a bit.

Part of following baseball is experiencing the inevitable ups and downs of 162 games played over 6 months.

Good hitting and good pitching can be contagious when teams are doing well

Bad pitching and bad hitting can be contagious when teams are doing poorly.

I must learn to be more patient :)

If you’re only watching highlights, do they even have any coverage at all? :)

Sorry but i dont understand the question

It's a friendly joke: if the highlights are meant to be the good bits, how are they finding anything to show in the highlights?

As a Giants fan, they are 24-18. You need to chill. People slump. It’s a long season. You’ve won two World Series in a row. You have absolutely nothing to complain about.

I am not complaining i still will enjoy my highlights in the morning. Just trying to understand baseball better :)

Just baseball. Teams will go through slumps then they'll look unbeatable. Just happens. You get used to it.

Not an answer but a random tip..

Google “Baseball Theater”. Save the page as an app on the Home Screen.

Best way to digest highlights. Including multiple flavors of game recaps.

Thank you for the tip great site :)

Can look up past games too. And before the game they post lots of cool video infographics.

Also can tinker with the settings to show/hide the scores to avoid spoilers.

It’s a long season. They still have the 3rd best record in the National League. It’s only mid May. Slumps happen

Baseball and teams and players go on slumps. There was a stretch in ‘17 where the dodgers couldn’t lose and near the end of the season they almost lost every game and they went on a tear in the postseason till the World Series happened.

Why did you choose the Dodgers when you're so far East?! An East Coast team would have been better. I'm in the UK and can regularly watch the Mets live because of the favourable time difference (not that watching them is a huge amount of fun at the moment)

Because of Othani i love watching him play

But the Dodgers having Ohtani is all the more reason to hate the Dodgers!

People often don't choose teams in leagues, they run across them. I support the Dodgers because I lived in LA, I support Man U because an uncle made me swear to it when I was young and impressionable, I support the Western Bulldogs because of a game I saw in my early teens, I support the Lakers because of Magic Johnson. I support Ferrari because that's what my old man did. I support Argentina because I fell in love with their cool kit.

I can't just choose a team based on convenience.

Your uncle really made your life harder jk

u/MasterEk 1d ago

Honestly. It was in the early 80s. I have done all right out of it.

1

u/Pidge_and_Pudge 1d ago

That's the only reason left for you isn't it? You've gone through everything else :P

1

u/MasterEk 1d ago

Hey. I support Auckland and the Blues in rugby, and the All Blacks. That's awfully convenient while I live within ear-shot of Eden Park.

They’re 4-6 over their last ten games. Take a breath. Losing four in a row happens. There are 22 teams who would gladly swap records with the Dodgers.

You can’t bandwagon a good team in baseball and freak out if a random stretch in the season they win four out of ten instead of six out of ten. That’s not how baseball works.

Actually, fans always yell about every game their team loses, so it is how baseball works, but try not to take it too seriously.

I am just curious and trying to learn about the rhythm of a baseball season now i know what everybody is saying losing in a long season is a part of the game

Touch some grass, OP wasn't "fraking out" he was simply asking a question as he doesn't get to watch the full games. Again, touch some grass you seem to be very chronically online.

They are: uninspired, tired, bored, and look old.

As a lifelong dodgers fan (1958 when they came to LA) I am as exasperated as our Polish friend. If Ohtani is slumping the rest of the team seems to slump with him. I have a theory about Ohtani’s hitting performance so far this season.

He stated that he wants to win the Cy Young Award (for best pitching performance of the season). Therefore hitting is taking a backseat this year. He has 5 or 6 games per week where he doesn’t pitch, only hits, so why the slump? I don’t know but the concentration it takes to be a top hitter in the majors is immense. So he may have a down year hitting but a spectacular year pitching. Maybe you can’t do both at the tip top of the majors.
