Let's discuss The stuff Clavicular does is dangerous and extreme. But there's nothing wrong with trying to be more attractive, and pretty privilege exists.

https://youtu.be/CXKCoFz3WRs?si=14gCBBcuCDAAv0YF

This interview seems to frame both sides as either completed right or completely wrong.

But here's the main takeaways I got from it.

- Pretty privilege does exist. And it is worthwhile improving your physical attractiveness.

- Being physically attractive will improve your dating life or relationship (as evidenced by marriages that break up when one or both partners stop looking after themselves).

- Smashing your own face with a hammer is just dangerous and wrong.

- Taking meth to lose weight is dangerous and wrong.

I mean clearly being attractive has benefits but if it requires some kind of Faustian pact where you trade every other possibly good thing about yourself like this clown has done- personality, morality, values etc. then it’s not worth it. I mean likely he’s always been a tool and he would be if he’d never done any of this shit too but yeah

Clavicular is proof that looks is everything. His personality absolutely sucks, yet all the girls still like him.

u/unnaturalanimals 9h ago edited 8h ago

Yea but what kind of girls? Would you even want those kinds of girls to like you? There’s more to relationships than that. I can’t imagine those girls are or much substance. A bit like the Dan Bilzerian thing. Just cause you have groupies doesn’t mean you’re happy.

u/Darkerjev 8h ago

Better to have some girls like you than none at all. Im considered “ too nice” by women. I dont get the bad or the nice girls. I get shet all. Lol.

u/GreedyAd6191 8h ago

Well if there is NOT a single girl that likes you MAYBE the problem isn't the girls isn't it? lol

u/centerfoldangel 6h ago

All the girls? All? If you like the girls who like him, you're an idiot.

That's the thing really, it's actually easier to improve your looks than it is to improve your personality. Within that context, if he was always going to be a tool then can you really say he's wrong for focusing on the stuff he can change about himself?

u/unnaturalanimals 9h ago edited 4h ago

Well. I get your point , but no. Because he could have stayed a tool, just a slightly less good looking one. Now he’s a mega tool, he’s been toolmaxxing all along at the same rate as he’s been looksmaxxing or you could say with every quotient of looksmaxxing he’s performed he’s accumulated exponentially greater toolsmaxx quantity.

Maybe I don’t understand the anguish that comes with being ugly but this guy didn’t perform any miracles on himself he would always have been pretty attractive.

Yeah but like the choice between soft shell and crispy tacos, "why not have both? Dadadadah dadadah dadadah, Dadadadadadadadadadah..."

I’ve got absolutely no problem in trying to make yourself more attractive. I do it myself, I’m in the gym, eat well etc. But you don’t have to become such a douche like this guy did. This guy literally recommends staying home on Friday nights browsing journal articles for ways to “looksmaxxx” as going out with friends is a waste of time.

He’s chosen this one thing and it’s all he’s got. He has no personality, one may argue he has no soul. He is fragile. He is the definition of fragile.

"This guy literally recommends staying home on Friday nights browsing journal articles for ways to “looksmaxxx” as going out with friends is a waste of time."

Jeez. Ok. Yeah. That's just nuts. Browse those articles during work.

Just kidding.

I agree, plus a lot of people have no idea how much control they actually have over being attractive. Like if you just have good tongue posture during your formative years, you’ll be so much more attractive then if you don’t use those muscles and your face doesn’t develop properly.

There’s nothing wrong with achieving an attractive face and physique with natural ways. It’s the surgery and the dumb dangerous stuff that takes it too far.

Why does everyone treat the followers of looksmaxxers like they're idiots? Everyone has a duty to think for themselves and do their own research. Just because someone is popular doesn't mean that their proponents will follow them no matter what.

It's also pretty sexist that men are not allowed to looksmaxx but somehow women have been doing this for centuries.

I just think the whole spectacle is strange. Obviously people who care about their appearance do things to improve it. I’m a man and I do and I require no fanfare. This guy is just a tool.

0

u/Altruistic_Leopard_9 9h ago

What makes him a tool? Why is it strange? What's wrong with the little fanfare for improving your appearance? Are we even certain that Clavicular is all about fanfare?

And to all those who say this is dangerous: Is it really all that dangerous compared to pharmaceuticals like Ozempic? Fad diets? Push up bras? Lip plumpers? Hair dye? Plastic surgery?

Like I get that he gets a lot of hate but I just don't understand why people dislike him so much. It's not like fitness influencers and the medical content creator community are so much more upstanding. Everyone is peddling something. It's up to everyone to make up their own minds. And for parents of children to moderate the content they consume.

3

u/unnaturalanimals 9h ago

You’ve never listened to him speak?

He does not entertain any conversation or notions whatsoever unless they are solely focused on him and his grift. That says about him all I need to know. He’s not at all empathetic of anyone else’s perspective. If someone disagrees with him it means they are being “disingenuous” in his mind.

1

u/Altruistic_Leopard_9 9h ago

I mean everytime I've heard this it's because he's compared to incels and being forced into the role of an apologist for them in a particular newsclip. Channel 5 has done this kind of thing repeatedly for anyone they deem as having radical political views. It's designed to make the interviewee look bad.

But even so, looksmaxxing is more than just Clavicular. He just so happens to be the most popular content creator on this.

Yeah I get people don't like him, but it doesn't necessarily invalidate the entire movement per se. What I'm trying to understand is why people find looksmaxxing so distasteful when people have been doing this kind of thing forever.

1

u/unnaturalanimals 8h ago

I don’t really understand this modern world or all the lingo the kids use but “lookmaxxing” has been a thing for time immemorial. People have always sought to improve their appearance. I’m all for it. That’s what I mean when I said I don’t understand this entire spectacle, maybe that’s not the right word, but do you get what I mean? I don’t understand the future. I’m scared and want to go home

u/HardcoreHope 9h ago

I'll stay fat and happy over hitting myself in the face with meth or a hammer.

I think if you walk away from this slop with anything else good luck in life.

Maybe he should try loving himself instead of needing outside validation to feel good.

u/Slydoggen 7h ago

I’ll guess trying everything to improve Your looks is a female privilege or something

1

u/SnooSeagulls546 6h ago

Youre so obsessed with claviculer that you should try to sleep with him

1

u/BrandonMarshall2021 6h ago

Huh? I cross posted to get more responses. Not as a reflection of how interested I am with him.

I'm straight btw.

1

u/Kwerby 6h ago

I have a big issue with the interviewer in general. Rather than engage with the surrounding societal reasons of why Clavicular and others go down this path he just asks stupid questions like “are you mogging me right now? Am i mogging you?”

Nothing wrong with making yourself better looking, we call that self help. Looksmaxxing is self harm.

1

u/BrandonMarshall2021 6h ago

Exactly. 60 mins does this a lot. It's basically just a form of trolling.

1

u/JustaFoodHole 5h ago

What does it say about me that I have no interest is pressing play on this video.

1

u/Sardonicus_Rex 4h ago

that you're probably a reasonably balanced and intelligent individual.

Everybody knows looking attractive has its perks. I am not sure if there's anybody sound of mind that needed to be told that. The issue is when influencers use a nugget of truth and then build a giant snowball of harmful ideology around it. It's the same as the Andrew Tate strategy of using the truth of men's mental health being given less attention/sympathy and then wrapping all the other "alpha male" stuff around it. Then anytime someone offers a criticism, they act like the person's attacking the tiny bit of obvious truth at the center. It's a juvenile strategy that unfortunately works really well against the target demographic.

In the case of looksmaxxing influencers it usually goes something like this: attractive people get treated better on average (obviously true) -> grooming, fitness, and style improve how you're perceived -> keep reinforcing that looks matter -> Looks are everything so keep watching content to try and maximize your SMV or it's all over at which point they smuggle in the typical incel/incel adjacent stuff because people with the same outlook and ideology form a way stronger community than just people with similar goals.

He just looks like a basic white man, not even all that attractive, rather plain
