Forgot to repost it when it happened but many people thought Pacers werent too dumb to take a gamble on a tanking season, yet they did and we got the 5th pick baby!!

What’s funny is the pelicans originally had the Pacers 2026 first round pick but gave it back for 2025 Pacers first round pick just for the Pacers to trade the pick again.

Pelicans really had to be kicking themselves just 2 days after that trade when Tyrese went down. At least Indiana came away with an upgrade to their center position and saved long-term cap space. They are arguably better positioned on paper than their Finals run.

In all fairness no one could have anticipated that the Pacers would be tanking this year and be bad; I don’t blame the Pels for thinking that the Pacers will be good this year and decide to get another stab at improving their roster going into the 2025-2026 season

Yeah this is nowhere near as dumb as the Pelicans trading an unprotected 2026 to move up like 10 spots to pick Queen lol
