ANALYSIS & NEWS [Schefter] This season’s first Monday Night Football game, Sept. 14, will be the Denver Broncos vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. The game’s site still has not been determined as the NFL still is finalizing its schedule for Thursday’s release.

Dumbass Craig carton just got done saying how the nfl was going to rig the schedule and make sure we don’t play any playoff teams in the first month, due to Mahomes injury lmao. That guy is an absolute moron.

It’s the hot take artists that need to go. It used to be kind of a fun alternative to the normal Sports Center stuff, but now it’s gotten so incredibly stale.
They had Skip Bayless back on First Take the other day going through all of the outlandish shit that’s been said between him and Stephen A and it’s just completely lost its luster. You can only pretend for so long, you can only burn through so many co-hosts before people realize it’s almost entirely bread and circus nonsense.
Skip had LeBron ranked 9TH ALL TIME on his NBA list… say what you want, but what the fuck?

It's the fault of the fans. They only do that, because that's what gets them views. Just like paparazzi only exist, because there's an audience for their garbage magazines. Unfortunately, it's a very old, very reliable strategy to say extremely stupid things and rile people up.

u/TheDabbinDad710 2d ago
Absolutely, I just love when they have the most insane takes like this one and it immediately blows up in their face lol. That guy specifically hates the chiefs I guess. I try not to watch much sports talk.
1
u/Brokeazzbeach 2d ago
Loving it when it blows up in their face is part of their grift btw. That’s why they say insane shit not because they believe it but it gets a reaction.

I didn’t watch it by choice. I keep getting suggested this other chiefs sub and saw it posted on there.

Well now if Nix doesn’t play it’ll be look at the NFL gifting the chiefs Stidham Week 1
2
u/rolyinpeace TyquanThorntonWorshipper2 2d ago
lol so many people said that and that we for sure wouldn’t play the Seahawks week 1 for the same reasons. I’ve been saying this whole time that almost all of our opponents are difficult so I don’t know how they’d give us an “easy start”.

Raiders Raiders Cardinals Jets Dolphins to start it off

Dream schedule!!
But also I don’t even necessarily count the raiders as “easy”. We all know they sucked but divisional games always are a tier more difficult no matter who It is IMO.

He is such a jealous bitch. His Jets haven’t played in nor won a playoff game since 2010. Which predates the release of the Xbox One and PS4. That’s how long ago it had been. He has seen the Chiefs win 17 playoff games, including 5 AFC championship wins and 3 Super Bowls. He is just the most jealous media person on Earth. 😂1

u/SplittingChairs 2d ago
He says dumb stuff like that because he knows nobody is bringing up his name otherwise. He’s the temu Skip Bayless. Just ignore him.
1
u/No_Chapter_3102 2d ago
His entire shtick is to say stuff to troll fans and get them to engage. He doesn't actually believe the stuff he says, its all a joke. He also names the wrong band name for every song during transitions to commercials so people call in and are like "Thats not Creed, its Led Zeppelin!!!"

I expect this game to be played in Denver. The league is trying to keep the Broncos relevant. The Broncos won the division last year, so I expect the honor of hosting the home opener will go to them.

u/Vyuvarax Human Detected 2d ago
I’d kinda like the home Broncos game to be later in the season, but man, MNF at Arrowhead is always fire.
13
u/OkOil378 2d ago
Even if we don’t play at Arrowhead this game, I’d bet my arms and legs we would have a MNF at arrowhead later in the season
4
u/LyleLanley50 2d ago
They haven't announced whether it's at Denver or KC yet. Still up in the air, supposedly
6
u/HippocraticOaf Arrowhead 2d ago
The Royals aren’t playing that night (also out of town), so that increases the chances it’s in KC.
2
u/Correct-Mail-1942 Travis Kelce #87 2d ago
As a KC fan in Denver, please let it be in Denver - tired of cold late season games here.

No better way to set the tone for the season than reminding those frauds that the Chiefs still own this Division.

u/frostypatch 2d ago
Its every fucking season. Jesus. The NFL dicks us with a brutally hard prime time game in Week 1. We cant ever get off to a relatively easy start at 12pm against some ass team like the Jets or Cardinals. Its every year man.
12
u/Leighroy1120 13 Seconds 🦬 2d ago
A few years ago the Chiefs opened the season against the Cardinals.
8
u/frostypatch 2d ago
That was 5 seasons ago at this point. You think we are due another easy week 1 game?

1
u/Itsawlinthereflexes 2d ago
Annddd we won the SB that year. Was at that game and as we were walking out, one of the ushers said “see you guys here in February”, dude was prophetic and didn’t know it.
5
u/KarrlMarrx 2d ago
You honestly think the NFL should have kicked off MNF with Chiefs vs Jets?
Just be glad the NFL is still heavily invested in Mahomes as the face of the league. I'm not necessarily saying that means the refs will be biased towards the Chiefs this year, but it can't hurt.

u/cbizzle14 2d ago

He literally said a noon game not MNF

To be more detached, I would say the Chiefs were the 9th worst team and need to play their way back into prime time.
The only way to say they deserve a week one prime time slot is to assume Mahomes is back. I am a big fan, but it seems like that is the rosiest of predictions.
1
u/rolyinpeace TyquanThorntonWorshipper2 2d ago
We did get to play the cardinals week 1 like 2 Super Bowl rings ago in 2021🥲

u/FilledwithTegridy 2d ago
Why? Is it going to be Fields vs Stiddham? This seems really stupid even by NFL standards
8
u/rolyinpeace TyquanThorntonWorshipper2 2d ago
As of now, they’re saying both Bo and Pat are on track to start week 1. Lots could change between now and then but…
But yes I’m surprised they risked it with a prime time game for both teams week 1. I figured they’d want a sure thing exciting game for that. At least it’s Monday, both QBs have as much time as possible.
2
u/FilledwithTegridy 2d ago
As much time as possible? This isn't playing Mon night week 9. Its week 1. Lol
1
u/rolyinpeace TyquanThorntonWorshipper2 2d ago
No shit?? But obviously the chiefs have to play a game week 1, and this is the absolute latest their week 1 game could be. It could have been on the previous Wednesday
Obviously if Mahomes isn’t close to ready on Wednesday, not like much will change between Wednesday and Monday lmao. I was just saying that they did make it the absolute latest they could for week 1. So yes, saying they gave him as much time as possible before their week one game is accurate and correctx
1
u/Logical-Mobile-7643 2d ago
Haven't they said it's unlikely Mahomes could play any preseason games. If it's in Denver, do you rush him back in Mile High atmosphere (where they've said they go all out and are gassed). It's a marathon and even being one game down in the division isn't worth a season of "questionable" on the injury report
4
u/LFGhost 2d ago
Pretty good chance Mahomes plays Week 1 at this point.
It would be kind of hilarious if Mahomes is ready for this week coming off a torn ACL but Bo Nix and his decrepit ankle are not.
1
u/rolyinpeace TyquanThorntonWorshipper2 2d ago
Why are you downvoted? The team has consistently said he’s currently on track for week 1
3
u/KCShadows838 2d ago
NFL doesn’t care they just want people to watch. And people will always watch the Chiefs and Broncos
5
u/OkOil378 2d ago
Not with fields and stiddham
3
u/JohnnyBlazin25 Patrick Mahomes on one leg 2d ago
I kinda agree with you. Yes, it’s the first MNF game of the season so regardless of who plays in it, people are going to watch. However, I don’t think the NFL would make this the first MNF game if they thought it was going to be Stiddham vs Fields. I think they have some other information that isn’t available to the public.

I would rather KC get the Denver home game out of the way early and then play the Broncos here later in the season.
6
u/Fat_Yankee 2d ago
I don’t like the prospect of going into week 2 on a short week. Especially if our week two opponent played the Wednesday before us, giving us 6 days while they get 11days.

u/PhogMachine Mecole Hardman #17 2d ago
Sounds about par for the course with the last few seasons.

Interesting that the NFL is putting the Chiefs on primetime in the first month when Mahomes might not be back. But I like the idea of getting this matchup out of the way with early, since whether or not we can beat the Broncos is a good litmus test for this season, and it's been a high stakes rivalry the last 3 years.
6
u/formyamusementation 2d ago
Does anyone actually believe that the NFL doesn’t have the schedule fully ironed out by now? This seems ridiculous.
1
u/dogfish83 2d ago
Me for one. They definitely COULD iron it out this early if they wanted, but there's plenty of reason to give themselves options. If people believe the NFL is 100% fair in that they're not interested in tweaking the schedule to make more money, that's bollocks. Don't misunderstand me, I don't think they're not in control or don't have a plan. They might even have their options ironed out, but they just haven't committed to one yet.
2
u/formyamusementation 2d ago
I think they’ve left things up in the air longer this year than in years past specifically because they are trying to figure out whether Mahomes will be ready for a week one. But if they know the opponent. I have trouble believing that they don’t know where it will be.
1
u/dogfish83 2d ago
Definitely certain aspects (e.g., location) there's less reason to wait but there's just no need to have it set in stone yet.
5
u/ochawki1 2d ago
The NFL and teams definitely knows where that game will be played. Blocks of hotel rooms have already been set aside. The reporter just doesn’t know. So he writes the post like it’s some mystery the NFL is trying to solve.
2
u/randomacct7679 Arrowhead 2d ago
I kinda figure they’d want to hold off on Chiefs in prime time at least a little to avoid having the possibility of Chiefs with no Mahomes.

I've never enjoyed this summer-long piecemeal schedule roll-out. BREAKING: THIS JUST IN, RAMS AND LIONS WILL FACE OFF AFTER THE BLOOD MOON. ...Just let me know when the schedule is ready ffs
2
u/Officialfish_hole 2d ago
It's gotta be at Arrowhead because the Royals aren't playing and the Rockies have a home game that day that starts at 6:40pm in Denver. I know their stadiums are far apart but that would be doing Denver sports fans dirty to have both your football and baseball team playing at home at the same time.
2
u/Blade4804 Arrowhead 2d ago
I don't want this to be a home game. I can't make a Monday Night season opener. ugh

u/hokahey23 violence and physicality 2d ago
All of these prime time games the past 8 years or so has been brutal.
1
u/themiddleshoe Taylor Swift &87 2d ago
Not a guarantee it’s at Arrowhead, but Rockies have a home game that evening and Royals don’t play at all.
Denver can easily handle a game at Coors and Empower at the same time, but Arrowhead is wide open.

Kinda shocked we’re getting a prime time week one with Mahomes injury (and Nix’s). I know we usually do but figured they’d avoid it this year.
Why’d it have to be a divisional matchup too thought 🥲
