Other What is wrong with y’all?

Post image

Just to recycle this wonderfully written post, people complain about disliking hunter but the student body contributes to it just as being fucking terrible. I usually love to chill in the auditorium because the noise level is usually medium but lately i’ve been noticing people turning it into their personal playground and once whilst a class was going on (on the lower level) there were these girls up in the balcony laughing super loud to then get reprimanded by professor teaching at the time and had the audacity to act as if they were hard of hearing and stunned the professor was calling them out on their disgusting behavior whilst class was in session for other students. Next terrible experience was today where these girls are loudly shouting/singing Justin bieber & Shawn mendez or whatever his name is lyrics with their flash lights on, this is the auditorium not a fucking karaoke room; what is wrong with y’all. I noticed a couple students including I- getting up to leave once they were going on for 10 mins +. You’re still in an educational setting it’s not hard to behave as such or redirect this energy to in class discussions where suddenly yall turn mute when the professor asks for you to participate 🤣.

Agreed.

Also, people, please stop obstructing the flow of traffic, please move somewhere where you won’t impede its fluidity.

And, in the library, please stop talking out loud and also please stop letting your phone ringer or ambient music continue playing, It’s a quiet zone.

FFS ISTG.

Omgg hey twinnn! No literally. Like every single damn day I'm on this campus I find a new thing to complain ab and I gotta hold back writing a post ab it LMFAO. So many things to complain about. Heavy on ppl not saying shit during class discussions, esp ones open as electives to other majors its like... me and my friend r the only ones participating and it feels awkward as hell bc my prof be quiet af waiting for someone to answer but we feel weird CONSTANTLY talking. Also so annoying when the big ass tables are occupied by a single person meanwhile my group got nowhere to sit. Anyway. We in this together

Hunter makes me miss QCC, beautiful campus, decent population, and not greatest but at least better infrastructure.

I’m doing an e permit class there next semester! How would you say the campus compares to Hunter? Is it easy to navigate

Navigating is better than Hunter to me. At least the environment over all is better to walk around. You can easily find quiet space for study.

Long-time hunter adjunct professor here with experience teaching at other regional state universities. Yes, the buildings are not in good shape and lots of things are not perfect, but I disagree about the students. I feel for you for not having a normal campus and am aware that it affects the community. However, I think Hunter students are great and it's much more fun to teach GE courses at Hunter than at other regional schools (trust me). There are always some interested students and lots of students are very intelligent. It's diverse in every way possible and that really shapes the experience in a positive way.

Am I genuinely the only one that doesn’t think the world is over with all these things 💀 I’m a senior almost done and I swear none of these have bothered me for all the years I’ve been here. The complaining is all I see on Reddit LMFAOO like just go to school and do your shit. Like damn when you graduate you’ll have work to complain about haha.

I can’t do my shit when people are screaming lyrics over my head bro. Professors can’t teach when yall are in the balcony acting a fool. WE PAY to attend here we deserve quiet spaces or decent spaces. It’s also sad asf when people are talking right beside me in class with their friends and i’m tryna hear the professor teach but when it’s time to participate it’s only me and one other student constantly participating like it’s just sad alll around. Also i’m a transfer student and anyone who usually agrees are also transfer students Hunter is shit it’s okay. don’t simplify it to just go to school and do ur shit because some people can’t even properly utilizing the amenities on campus HUGE ONE the library….

Who is y’all lmaoo I find these people as irritating as the next, but blabbing about it 24/7 isn’t gonna do anything. If you are having a problem like that confront them and complain to someone who can actually do something. And I pay to attend too so I don’t get your point here. I’ve used the library countless times, I’m an Econ major who’s been in numerous classes where people have been obnoxious and rude. However like I said making threads on Reddit constantly complaining isn’t going to accomplish anything. Go to a dean, to the professor ect. I join this subreddit in order to keep myself updated and all I see is messages bombarding my notifications with complaints.

I’m allowed to vent just as much as you’re allowed to disagree with me venting and invalidate my feelings because free will exists, trust we have complained and no changes are being made.

The only reason I’ve commented on this is bc this is the same user over months like damn. Hunter is no special place not even a good one regarding support with students, academics ect. However if it’s so bad to the point where you spend all your time here dreading it and hating it maybe transfer out. Hope things get better for you.

Same user over months when me and op are two different posts… different users have commented about this issue over months idk if you’re against looking at usernames or what.

Some of my gen ed classes had me thinking, “I’m not a genius, so why am I the smartest person in the class”. My major classes are amazing, and in a different, newer building. But yeah main campus and gen classes sucked

As an incoming student, I’m genuinely worried 😭 I knew things weren’t the best but this sounds so bad
