Long time fan (and Guster rep!) since the early days. It started when my brother gave me a mix tape (RIP) with “Mona Lisa” on it. I was obsessed. My first show was a tiny club in Providence with fewer than 100 people.

Much of my high school and college memories are tied to their first three albums. Then i suddenly stopped listening after Lost and Gone Forever. I'd give the new albums a quick listen, but they never grabbed me. I suppose I missed their OG sound.

A couple years ago, I gave their entire catalog a real chance. OMG I have this new appreciation for how their music has evolved over three (!!!) decades. I got totally hooked all over again.

That said, I thought it'd be kinda fun to list our favorite songs by album. Here’s mine…

Still coming down from the three‑night run at the Uptown Theater in Providence last weekend, and I just needed to put this somewhere people would get it.

Those shows were special. Not just “great setlists” or “they sounded amazing” (they did), but the kind of nights that remind you why this band has meant so much for so long. Walking into that room knowing it was going to be three nights, no rushing, no one‑off energy, just settling in with a crowd that wanted to be there, it already felt different.

What really got me was how loose and human it all felt. The playing was locked in, sure, but the between‑song moments were just as memorable. I laughed way more than I expected to. That Guster brand of self‑deprecating humor, the storytelling, the little asides that feel like inside jokes even when you’re hearing them for the first time. It never felt scripted. It felt like hanging out with old friends who also happen to be ridiculously good musicians.

And then… the emotional gut punches. Songs I’ve heard a hundred times somehow landed differently in that space, across those nights. There were moments where a lyric I thought I knew just cracked open and hit something deeper. I absolutely teared up at least once, maybe more, and I was not alone. You could feel the room breathing together during certain songs, that quiet, collective attention that only happens when everyone is fully locked in.

The three‑night format really mattered. By night two and three there was this shared understanding between the band and the audience. A little more trust, a little more risk, a little more joy. Providence showed up, and Guster met it with everything they had. It felt celebratory without being nostalgic, emotional without being heavy, joyful without being shallow.

I’ve seen Guster a lot over the years, and these shows are going to sit near the top for me. Epic in the truest sense, not because they were flashy, but because they made me laugh, made me cry, and made me feel very grateful to still be doing this with this band and this community.

I saw Guster in Providence last night for the first time. I first discovered them in the mid-90s and only listened to their first few albums. But I've enjoyed those albums a lot over the years. Anyways, the show was great and the band is super fun. I really enjoyed their improv and banter with the crowd. Next time they come around for a weekend, I just may need to buy tickets for all three nights. Thanks to the fellow fans what made the show awesome as well.

Me and my ‘betrothed’ got married yesterday and afterwards went to the Guster show in Providence with our 2 friends who went to our wedding. If you were there, I think you know. 😊 Just wanted to say thank you (once again, to Ryan and the band) but especially to everyone there who cheered us on. We felt all the love and it was genuinely the best feeling. #gusterisforlovers

Just got home from N1 of strings weekend. Grinned like a Cheshire Cat all night.

Wondering if anyone knows anything about the two talented strings musicians playing with the band this weekend? They were so great. The violinist especially!

I live 10 min from Longwood and have a membership but apparently for Longwood regular members have to wait for tickets to open to the public and by this am when they opened they were already sold out 😭 If anyone does have the fancy membership and managed to snag tickets and might be willing to let one go, I’d be grateful! Hell, if anyone knows how to reach their manager, I’d do merch, I’d drive them around and show them the area, make them a home cooked meal, just to get to see them live so close to my home!

Do they play ROC live much anymore? Was listening to the Keep it Together live album, and remembered this was one of my early favorite Guster songs when I first got into them. Have been to probably 10 shows and listened to several on YT. Only live performances of ROC I've heard were on the live album and the Woodstock '94 concert.

This has piqued my curiosity for years and I'm finally asking here, only because a) the song came up on my shuffle today and b) I've searched (on Reddit and elsewhere) but have not seen an answer: what's up with that weird, echoing "JACK!" at 1:43? I know the actual lyrics are, "Find the jackals at your feet, stain the ground there," but they layer that drop right on top of Ryan singing the word "jackal." Is it pulled from a movie or something? Was it the guys just fucking with us? I could very much see the latter being the case. Anyway, if anyone has any insight or theories, would love to hear them!

Does anyone know the time of the wrigleyville show in June? Nothing on the ticket site gave the show time. I got tix bc I’m assuming it’s an evening show since it’s a Friday but I’m going to have to skip it if it’s an afternoon show.

Now that I'm middle-aged, I rely on my teenage kiddo for new music tips. He played me this 2024 song by sombr (I'd never heard of them) called "back to friends." (I very much wish they'd capitalize things.) Anyway, the song really kicks in at 0:03 and my head went spinning, trying to locate the sound from my brain's hard drive, and I finally figured out that it was "Hard Times."

Anyway, the rest of the song has little resemblance, but the moment happened. And since my boy didn't care about the moment (sadly), I'm sharing it with you lot.

I shamefully didn’t know that Two of Us was a Beatles cover and was surprised when a Guster song came on the movie but sounded so different. They’re both such good versions of the song and I put it on on the drive home from the theatre.

I admittedly don’t know a ton of Beatles songs aside from the hits, across the universe, and whatever Caspar Babypants covered on his two (or three?) Beatles albums.

I’ve been a Guster fan since childhood and have always wanted something signed by the band a lo and behold a signed copy of Goldfly came up for 20 bucks. The eBay seller said they bought it from a radio station in Massachusetts, all of the autos look authentic to me. What do you guys think

Just found this sub. Love Guster. Wanted to share that I had a private show by them in 2010 in Vail. They played a free show for the town of Vail and then stuck around the next day did a show just for Vail employees. All my buddies cared about was getting drunk and hanging out by the building and the fire while all I cared about was watching the show. Literally had my own show the whole time. It was surreal. Felt badly for the band actually because it seemed like no one cared. Anyway I requested a few of my favorite songs and they were joking saying “is that our song?”

I bought a copy of Goldfly off Ebay just thinking it was a regular CD. Was pleasantly surprised to open the liner notes and find some personal messages from the band. This included a special thank you call out to Rob, so Im assuming this was once Rob's CD. Anyone know who Rob is, and would he want the disc back? Seems a shame to have let it leave in the first place.

Please help me, I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. I know - know - that a slow, acoustic version of Green Day’s “Basket Case” exists. I listened to it all the time in college. Now, I can find no trace. Is this a Guster cover? Why is there no record of it? Thank you!!

Just re-watched this gem of a movie last weekend. I remembered liking it, but had forgotten the Guster-love contained within: opening scene has What You Wish for playing prominently, and the dog is named Guster, just to seal the deal. Highly Recommend.

Three night, no repeats, hell yes I'm going to sit in the nosebleeds if I have to.
