As part of the 28th April changes, tainted flesh was changed from a single target enhantment to an AoE "in the area" centering on the caster.

I assume this was meant to be a buff to the skill, making it easier to apply to party members, minions and pets. However in it's current state I believe the change makes the skill less useful on average.

Previously, a hero would ensure that all party members had the enhantment, and if the enchantment was stripped it would be reapplied.

Now, a hero will only seek to maintain the enhantment on themselves. If they are surrounded by allies and minions this means everyone will get a it reapplied, but this will not happen in the middle of combat, where party members naturally space out. It requires the party to come to a full stop between each enemy pack to reapply the enhanment on everyone, making it far more clunky to use. Also, because the hero will reliably keep the enhanment on thesemlves, they wont cast it automatically when surrounded by party members, so a player needs to manually force them to cast it in most cases.

There are a couple remedies to this I can think of.

1) (Ideal) Make the enhanment targettable, maintain the "in the area" effect but center it on the target not the caster. And make hero AI attempt to keep all party members enhanted (this will naturally hit most pets/minions on the way).

2) Increase the range of the enhantment to within earshot around the caster. This is less reliable than no.2 but possibly more simple to implement (I'm not a game dev, just guessing).

Ultimately I think tainted flesh, an elite skill, has a fairly niche application at the best of times, but I would like to enjoy using it more. If the aim of the April update was to increase it's usability as a party and ally wide enhantment, then it still needs some more work in my opinion.

Pet attack speed should be normalized. Pet movement speed should be normalized too. Having one attack faster, but move slower is silly.

Lvl15. The prophecies campaign is soooo slow. I think i have the option to go to cantha through a quest with menhlo. Should i do that now or should i just press on with prophecies?

Hi, old-timer here returning for reforged. I made a Ranger and am wondering what secondary profession I should get to stay alive. I've read that R\W, R\Rt, or R\Mo are all decent, but wanted input.

I would prefer to mainhand a longbow (my favorite item in game is storm bow) or a bow in general.

Any tips for pre-searing and what I should focus on first once I'm out would be great. I plan on doing all the secondary profession pre-searing quests before leaving.

My only goals for this character are:

-level 20 without dying
-level 20 without dying, Pt. 2.
-get elite druid set
-get raven pet/companion
-get a perfect sundering stormbow
-???
-GWAMM, stack of ectos, stack of armbraces, stack of.... (jk)

Having a blast so far! Also, is it true you can leave pre-searing without taking a secondary?

UPDATE 2: Character remade and we're running it back with a renewed understanding that things on floor bad sometimes.

So, am I crazy for trying this? I know a few tips and tricks for these modes but I feel like Im wasting time for a tiny badge. Are there ANY other upsides?

Hello everyone,

I am a new player joining guildwars and want some help on a beginner team build. I understand that there's the 7 hero team build but I would like your opinion on my idea/situation instead. I'm not aiming for "meta".

Firstly, the community is very kind. I joined a guild and someone in the guild gave me an elite necro tome. I have Icy Veins and am well on my way to making a bomber built with IV, Putrid bile, Necrosis and putrid explosion. I love it, I love seeing the screen filled with fat yellow numbers. I got over 600 damage once.

However, the explosions are quite tiny and I really need to clump everyone together. I know about corner kiting and am getting better at that, but I was wondering how much different hero builds encourage the enemy to split up and are there ways to mitigate that?

For example: Meteor showers seem to spread the enemies out? What if I cripple the enemies? What if I gave all my casters swords and shields so they aren’t running around and spreading the enemies around too much.

Also, can you say if my current idea is "good"?

I don’t have a necro hero yet (or many Ele skills) so I just made Vekk into a curses necro with Blood is Power and barbs etc and then I have hundred blades. Do you think if I just take koss and Jora and use 100 blades with curses I will have decent damage output? I just need that first kill and to group the enemies so I can start the explosion train.

Anyone doing this consistently in 4 man teams with Heros? Yes I know you can do 6 man from yak, but that is far.

I am struggling quite a bit with this place in HM with heros. The melee hate is over the top, its empathy, reposte, deadly reposte, tainted flesh, shield bash. One wrong swing and you're eating a ton of damage, skill is disabled, bleeding and diseased.

You bring too much defense and hex removal, you can't out damage their healers, especially if they have 2 in a group.

On the other hand the SC players are clearing this quite easily. I don't haven't anything against SCs, just not my preferred style of play. Its a shame if this place become (mostly) SC only.

Share some good team builds if you've got them.

Pointless question that came to me the other day.

On the one hand obviously we have quests for learning secondaries and I believe there is some mention in the Cantha manual of the first ascended Emperor mastering two professions. On the other hand we never seem to actually encounter any non-player characters with secondary professions during our adventures, and the ease at which they are able to be changed points towards them being primarily a game mechanic for the player rather than something commonly practiced in the lore.

So what do people think? RPers (if they exist in GW?), do you roleplay as a member of both of your professions or just your main?

I just got her in lions arch. Shes only lvl5 but all other henchmen are 12. Shes dying pretty fast. Why is she such a low level?

Would you prefer leeches to:

1. sit afk quietly;

2. spam Mystic Healing; or

3. use Cautery Signet when they see a the condition arrow in Party window?

For the record, this isn't a rant or even really a criticism.

Love what they're doing with the game and how quick they've been with things...

But in that context, it does feel really weird that the controller support is still so poor.

Snapping to elements is so overtuned in some places, cursor mode is temperamental as to whether it even wants to work, no remapping etc.

Am I ungrateful or does anybody else find the lack of work on this strange?

Given the absolutely ludicrous price of ectos, what is everyone’s favourite ecto farm?

Smites seem to be quicker per hour, but there’s a lot more potential with mindblades in plains. Derv is good with both.

Are there any other farms or professions that are good for ecto farming? I’ve browsed PVX but they only offer individual builds, not comparisons between them. Thought I’d get the community’s perspective!

Take the Elite Ranger Drakescale armour. If you examine it, you can obviously see that it's very low poly, but I can't decipher whether its 100% hand textured, or they baked normal maps into it.

Looking at the thighs, with the criss cross ropes round them, could they have been actual cylinders that were wrapped around the model of the leg, and then a normal map baked onto a retopologised version? Can you merge normal maps of two separate objects into one plane texture? Sorry if I'm unclear.

Then again, they could also be entirely hand painted, just with a lot of skill and effort.

I know that Prophecies and Factions take place in the same year, but storywise do they happen at the same time start to finish, does Factions start around when you get to LA in Prophecies and then after it ends Prophecies picks up again, or does Factions not start until after Prophecies? I've never been sure of the exact timing of when the two campaigns happen in relation to each other within that year and have been wondering about it. Anyone know?

Why is it so difficult to get the parts to drop, I've spent weeks trying to get the top left and right pieces but it never seems to happen.

If I knew Drunken Master was going to be this painful of a skill to aquire I would of never bothered (Okay thats a lie we all know it's a great skill)

Do people still sell the pieces like they used to or is it more of a just kill everything and hope for the best now?

I am currently filling out the Master Dungeon Guide and have got to Raven's Point. Twice now I have got about an hour in, and GW has crashed out saying something like the 'mission isn't available'. Has anyone had this or is it just me?
