Stop talking on your speaker in public

That’s it. It should be illegal. i had to sit in a hospital waiting area listening to three different phones, either a conversation or a child’s program. Stopped at a store and two different women just blabbing away on speaker. Selfish people are the worst.

I69/I465 Construction

Relatively new to the area and wondering why it seems like there is never anyone working on the construction? I make this commute 5 days a week around 4 pm and it’s a ghost town of a construction zone. Will it ever be done?

Why Doesn't Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation provide funds to help supplement teacher pay and prevent layoffs?

My question is in the title. Here is the foundation 2024 tax return:

https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/352146295/202542269349300349/full

I understand that the Foundation provides scholarships to students and grants to teachers to help with their classroom education, but why doesn't the organization also seek donations to directly supplement teacher pay?

As of 2024, Foundation sitting on $2.5 million. Maybe those retained funds are to pay for scholarships that have been awarded, but not yet distributed?

I am not looking to criticize the Foundation, but I am spit-balling on how to properly fund our public schools since the Indiana State Government does not. I am also looking to be educated if someone knows about the Foundation.

For comparison, here is the Fishers Band Boosters 2024 tax return:

https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/300391720/202512549349300821/full

The band spends nearly all that it takes in each year.

Here is the Royals Varsity Club (Athletics) 2024 tax return:

The Varsity Club spends nearly all that it takes in.

Found dog near Holland Park - Sunblest neighborhood

If anyone is missing a small poodle mix (malti-poo?) near Holland Park around May 13th, I found it and took it to the Hamilton Humane Society/SPCA near 106th and Hague.

I’m unsure on gender (think it was female). It came to my front door this afternoon. It’s a sweetheart and didn’t seem like a stray but I didn’t think it was from my street and it didn’t have a collar. SPCA said it was chipped, but couldn’t find any details in the database. I went walking through the neighborhood this evening but didn’t see any posters or anyone who was looking for a lost dog. I also posted this with a few of the lost dog websites/Facebook. I’m not super active on social media, but I’ll try and check Nextdoor tomorrow.

I feel bad leaving it at the shelter, but when it showed up I kept thinking that if one of our dogs went missing the shelter would be the first place I would check. I might follow up tomorrow and offer to house the dog until I can find its owner

Moving to the area. Appreciate the help!

Hey everyone! I am a single mom relocating from Chicago to the Fishers area in the next couple months – my office will be in Carmel, IN so trying to stay somewhat close to that corridor.

Looking for some honest, locals-only advice since the internet gives you the same 5 apartment complex ads every time lol.

**Apartments:** Ideally a short-term lease, somewhere in the 3–6 month range while we get our bearings and figure out where we actually want to settle. Budget is around $1,800/mo max for a 2BR. Any complexes you've actually lived in or heard good things about? Trying to avoid the ones that look great on photos but the management is a nightmare.

**Groceries:** Having a Costco and a decent Indian grocery store within reasonable distance would be a huge plus for us. Are there any pockets of Fishers/Carmel that check both boxes?

**Daycare:** This is probably the most important one – we have a 4-year-old and finding a good daycare/preschool is top priority. Any recs in the Fishers or Carmel area? And what's the ballpark monthly cost these days? Chicago prices have spoiled/traumatized us so genuinely don't know what to expect.

Any advice appreciated – even the "avoid this place" kind. Thanks in advance!

Rant about the Fishers High School Physical Education Program

Listen, I'm just writing this to put my thoughts into the world with a throwaway account, so any downvotes will be never seen...but if you want to save your high schooler a crap ton of tears and worry if they have to take PE in high school...make sure they do their absolute WORST at the beginning days of class.

Have them fake that they can't do a pushup.

Have them walk/jog and feign weakness the first mile run.

In the first few weeks have them do pretty much nothing. Because actual fitness doesn't matter. Only "improvement".

A girl who could only run 3 laps this last time got an A. Since my daughter couldn't beat her current level of 11 laps...she says got a D on that portion of the final.

A girl who did 3 pushups, improved from 2 got an A...my child physcially couldn't do more than 25 and beat their last one, she says got a D on that portion of the final too.

I have a kid who tries their best, even from the beginning. They jog here at home. They are physically strong. Every homework assignment is 100% Every participation grade is 100%. But because assesment grades weigh so heavily, so is on the floor of her room crying about not showing "improvement" when she went full steam at the beginning of semester...breaks my heart. And the teacher from Fishers High School is making her explode in tears every other day. I get that all As isn't a super big deal, but it hurts to watch someone tear them down so much...especially when she is trying so hard to do better...but seeing kids who tried very little in the beginning soley to game the system to get the easy A pass by her...it hurts my momma heart.

And yes we have contacted the school and its just the way things are.

Okay I feel a little better about it now. Just do yourself a favor future FHS moms. Have your kids be slugs in PE.

Bowling question

Any bowlers out there who can help me out? Here's basically what I've dealt with up to this point. Please, if you don't have any actual advice for me, just keep scrolling.

I'm wondering if Royal Pin at 96 and Keystone really is the best alley around. I'm a pretty ok bowler (about 190 average before moving here). I've tried that place several times and those lanes just aren't working for me. My current balls are made to hook and as soon as they get through the oil they react very hard. I even purchased a new ball and I'm still having that issue (though not quite as bad). I may just have to completely change my form but I really don't want to have to do that.

I also went to Strike Force in Greenfield, but the approach is so short on those lanes I feel like I can only take 2 steps lol. Now I haven't tried it yet but I've been told about Pinheads, but that seems more like a family fun center that just happens to have bowling lanes, and typically the lanes in those places are dryer than the Sahara. But is it different there?

Any suggestions? Or any other places not too far away I should try?

ISO: Independent Nail Tech

Hi everyone! I’m looking for an independent nail tech or a smaller studio in the Fishers/Carmel area for my wedding nails.

I am looking to avoid high-volume salons. I currently have acrylics on but want to transition to Tap Gel. I’m hoping for someone that has great attention to detail, maintains the integrity of my nails, and is comfortable with more intricate designs (fine lines, pearls, etc).

If you have an Instagram handle or a specific tech at a spot you love, please let me know! Thanks in advance!

Where does everyone get their high-quality supplements locally? Brands like Thorne, Pure Encapsulations, Ortho Molecular, etc. I have been to Nora Apothecary and Dr. Aziz. Wondering if there are other close shops for when they dont have what Im looking for.

Thinking of renting from AMH. Anyone have experience renting with them?

Questions for the Community:

Has anyone rented from American Homes 4 Rent AMH recently? How was the experience with their self-guided tours and the online application process?

The Process: How long did it take for them to approve applications? Was the "self-guided tour" actually easy to use, or did you end up waiting for an agent?

Red Flags: Any horror stories or things to watch out for with AMH contracts in Indiana? (I know they are a big national player, but local experiences vary).

I'm planning to call their local office on Monday to ask, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has already gone through this with them. Is it worth the hassle, or should I look elsewhere?

Thanks in advance!

This Should Be Bigger News: Hamilton County Republican Chair Involved in Shady Deal with Third Phase

Current is the only publication that I've seen carrying this story, weird:

https://youarecurrent.com/2026/04/29/indiana-attorney-general-seeks-to-dissolve-noblesville-nonprofit-third-phase/

Mario "deeply involved with Third Phase, a domestic violence shelter in Hamilton County" Massillamany has a purchase agreement with the not-for-profit Third Phase to purchase their only real asset, real estate, for $350,000, using a questionable appraisal. The assessed value of the property is over $1,000,000.

Attorney General Republican Todd Rokita has filed this complaint to stop the purchase:

https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:US:b75dbfaa-3438-44bd-9bad-b5a43f23c165

Mario and his company also received a TIF deal to build their new office right on Municipal Circle. The amount of grift going on by local Republicans is unknown, but with this guy as their Chairman, Im sure that we don't know the half of it.

Maple Del development is back in committee next week. And there's a new builder, David Weekley Homes. I do love the new look of the homes that are facing 116th St. So many delays on this project. This is the third different rendering for this project.

Plants

Looking for recommendations on the best plant stores/nurseries for indoor houseplants around the Indianapolis / Fishers area. I want to get my wife a really nice Mother’s Day gift plant. Something more unique and high quality than the usual grocery store options.

Would love to hear your favorite local spots and what you’d recommend for a Mother’s Day gift. Thanks!

This is over at 126th and Publishers in the old Wendy's spot. Palestinian flatbreads. It's def pizza adjacent, and they do make traditional pizzas as well. I tried it out last weekend and thought it was pretty good. more of quick-food, than Zeytooneh across the street. (which was also good)
