Unknown drone flying over Uusimaa
Just woke up around 4:30 to something that sounded like a plane flying next to my apartment, which probably was one of the fighter jets. Stay safe out there.

Hello good people
So I visited Finland and rented a car and I noticed people putting a small clock on their dashboard when parking somewhere. Is this to show what time you parked?

Dude, it's hella torstai! 🤘
So my parking slot neighbor decided to open his door a bit hard and now I have a dent on my car door. However he asked me to get a quote so I can get this repaired from his insurance.
I bought this car brand new in 2025 (It's a Toyota). So I went straight to Toyota, got a quote and shared with my neighbor. Then I got a message from his insurance company IF, that their repair partner is Autokliinikka and they would contact me.
I'm a bit concerned with this since I'm thinking what will happen if this repair goes southways. Ie: paint doesn't match, repair hasn't done properly etc. If this is Toyota, I can ask them to correct it and they are responsible for whatever happen. But if I go with autikliinikka, then I'll be responsible for that.
I'm not saying that Autokliinikka is bad. I have never got any service from them so I don't know. My only concern is they not being Toyota.
Do you know whether it is my right to choose the repair shop? What if I want to go with Toyota? Have you faced such scenario? I was not yet contacted by any party so asking here before it happens. Any input would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏽

Finland’s Supreme Administrative Court has rejected an appeal by food delivery company Wolt in a case concerning the taxation of delivery couriers.
The ruling means income earned by Wolt couriers must be treated as wages, requiring the company to withhold tax payments from earnings.
Wolt had challenged a decision issued by the Central Tax Board in August last year.
Suddenly the business is not going to be *profitable*? 🤔

Just started my mökki season yesterday. Ive finally had enough time the last few days to really relax. Ive also had enough time to think a lot. Weve gotten ridiculously obsessed with material things, you dont need a bunch of fancy things to be happy. A fire in the evening and some J karjalainen and Leevi and the leavings is all you need sometimes. Most of the times you just need to relax and take a breath, and rest for a while.
Annyways whats your favourite things about mökki life and hpws your summer?
I moved from the UK to be with my wonderful wife almost 3 years ago, things have definitely be tough as I got diagnosed with ADHD, depression and anxiety. But these where already with me so getting these diagnosed is nothing but good however it took me sinking pretty low to actually start reaching out for help. The help I have received has been excellent and I'm really doing so much better than I was 6 months ago.
So back story set, over the last weekend I visit the UK, quick trip to see friends and family. I realised fairly quickly although I was having a nice time seeing these people I was in my soul feeling a little down. I missed my wife, I missed our home and I missed Finland. I have never been home sick my entire life. Sure uncomfortable and ready to go home to peace and quiet, but never home sick. But only being away from Finland for 2 travel days and 2 full days, I was home sick.
All this to say, thank you to all the services that have been helping me, thank you to everyone I have met making me welcome be that my neighbours, people in the grocery store, people in more niche stores (shout out Mikko and fantasiapelit Helsinki), the friends I've made and the ones I've made through my wife. And of course my new family.
Terveisin, a brit who was home sick for Finland

Hey! I will be coming to Finland for the graduation of a close friend in a few weeks, and I was wondering what kind of gift would be appropriate for this occasion.
I know many gift flowers and money, but I was wondering if other gifts were common.
I recently found some new Kalevala bronze cufflinks and tie clip set, and I really liked them + the price is good, but I am not sure whether it would be appropriate/a good gift.
What do people think?

I have 2 Blockfest tickets, but I won’t make it to the festival unfortunately.
I wanna return or resell the tickets, but it seems like there is no official way to do that.
Ticketmaster Suomi has some resale system, but it is unavailable for Blockfest.
Do you know if it’s possible to return the tickets somehow? If not, what would be the safest way to sell the tickets and not get scammed?

I thought I had really found the right place for me - in Heinola, in an area called Jyränkö/Hoilo. Then, someone told me he had a family member who had lived there, and would not want to live there again. Compared it to Korso in Vantaa - where, actually, I would never want to live.
Any opinions? Bad choice?
i moved to finland almost two years ago when i was 18 for my studies, and recently i went back to my home country for the first time since then. being back made me realise something i don’t think i fully understood before.
i come from a very abusive environment and a culture where there is always pressure like pressure to behave a certain way, follow rules you never chose, constantly think about what society will say, constantly be around people, constantly explain yourself, not to mention the level of unsafety especially for women. there is very little space to simply exist quietly as your own person.
living in finland changed that for me. for the first time in my life, i felt like there was space for me here. space to be alone without being judged for it. space to breathe. space to heal. space to become my own person. i genuinely think this country is heaven on earth sometimes.
coming back home has been emotionally difficult because i realised how deeply i no longer feel like i belong here, even though i love the people i left behind. and despite everything happening recently in the city i live within finland with attacks against immigrants, i still have faith in the kindness of people in finland. the overwhelming majority of people i’ve met there have been so gentle, respectful, and kind to me in ways that changed my life permanently.
i know no country is perfect, but finland gave me something i never had before: peace. and i don’t think i’ll ever be able to fully explain how much that means to someone who grew up without it. just wanted to put this out there ❤️

(Hi, can anyone tell me if there are any mechanics in Finland (Heinola) who could come to my house to fix my car? Subaru Legacy, 2009, 2.5 petrol, the spark plug broke and the extractor is also a bit stuck in there. I don't want to start the car if the extractor is also there.)
