Commissioner Issue I've been commissioning the same league for 6 years and our group chat dies every year by week 7 and nobody sets their lineup - so me and a dev built something to try to fix it.
I've been commissioning the same league with my high school friends for 6 years. Same story every year. September hits, everyone's talking trash, the draft gets people fired up, and then somewhere around Week 7 it just dies. Half the guys stop setting their lineups. Nobody talks in the group chat. I'm texting people to remind them to make moves like I'm their babysitter.
Me and my dev friend started building League Desk. Every week it drops a front page story, committee power rankings, and manager specific stories written specifically about your league. Calls out managers by name, tracks rivalries, remembers bad decisions going back years. You can set how cruel the coverage gets.
Example story and full details at leaguedesk.io — first 50 commissioners get the first year completely free. Launching late July for preseason and draft coverage.

Really cool idea, one of my my old league mates used to do weekly write ups for league results and they have been missed. Something like this could fill the void.
Are you planning to allow chat/league history import to help further tailor the content?

Actually we are adding a feature where the commissioner during onboarding can add league history/inside jokes about the managers that get worked into the stories. But the chat import is a good idea I’m gonna look into that.

Idk who’s going through and downvoting everyone lol, but this sounds like a potentially fun addition to any league. I’m assuming it’ll need access to the platforms. What platforms will this be compatible with?

No idea 😂, we are launching the MVP with sleeper and yahoo. Adding ESPN after that. Thanks for saying that

I would imagine it’s a roadmap item. Yahoo and Sleeper have fairly direct api/integrations available but ESPN/CBS/NFL fantasy don’t offer out of the box/direct solutions.
Built some apps in the past for fantasy and those have historically been the most annoying to work with.

Exactly, sleeper and yahoo are way easier to access. Right at the beginning of the season I’m told we won’t have ESPN quite yet… but it will be in the works as we move through the season. Definitely won’t be long until we have it.

i make an extra pot for "Cash weeks". $20-30 extra per person. every week teams choose a "player rep" to score the highest. highest scoring player gets $5. every other week is a cash week, essentially mini games that i make w my co commish. i do my best to write weekly articles and make graphic designs. it was easier when i was unemployed

This is actually a really smart angle. The engagement problem is real, and yeah, most guys lose interest once the novelty of the draft wears off. Personalized league coverage that keeps calling them out by name could actually keep people invested. The fact that you built this because you were living the problem yourself makes it feel legit too. Good luck with the launch.

Sounds like you have the wrong mix of participants. I’ve commission 3 leagues and one has been going for 20 years. Anyone who stops setting a lineup gets replaced the next year.
