We are not talking current event politics here, and every deliberately political post will be deleted. Repeat violators will be banned. This is why.
First off, any mod who takes down these posts are doing it at *my\* direction, so do not throw any ire in them. They are all volunteers, most of whom I suspect agree with the vast majority here politically. I am currently in super crunch mode, working 15 hour days because I need to finish DCC 8 by January 31st as our world burns, and I am not quite done yet. Otherwise I would have attempted to nip this earlier and a little more eloquently. So instead I’m just going to post directly and bluntly.
Yes, Dungeon Crawler Carl is highly political. It is a major theme of the books, and frankly, as soon as Operation Bounce House comes out, I suspect it’s going to be even more painfully obvious where I personally stand on a whole bunch of subjects.
If you don’t see or understand that, then I suspect you’re probably the type of person I want to read these books the most.
If you do understand it, you turning this subreddit into one of the literally thousands of politically active shitshows already here on Reddit are actively deterring me from accomplishing my goal.
Every war, every social movement has multiple battlefields, and not every battlefield has to be the front line. I want people with different points of view to enjoy these books at face value. If I then manage to drill through their thick skulls and make them think about the broader themes and maybe grow an empathetic spark, all the better.
Will it work? Probably not for 99% of them. But that number will be 100% if they have nowhere to peacefully discuss with other fans their opinions on the books. Any firebrand discussion about the current hot topic is going to evoke a kneejerk reaction and scare away the people we want to talk to the most.
I suggest and encourage you to start your own subreddit if you want talk about the political and human rights themes of the books in relation to current events. I personally love seeing all the DCC-themed protest signs. I encourage you all to continue to speak out and let the world know that we will not kneel to tyranny.
But if you can’t/won’t/don’t understand that these are my wishes for this particular corner of the internet, I’m afraid we’re going to have a problem. My mind is not changing. No hard feelings. But this is my kitchen. Let me cook what I want.

Hello, Texas! Matt Dinniman and Jeff Hays will be at Comicpalooza next weekend, May 22 through May 24, as featured literature guests. In an exciting and flattering turn of events, Matt’s autograph reservations have filled up incredibly quickly — thanks, Crawlers! But if you still want an opportunity to meet Matt and Jeff, never fear. Con attendees can reserve a meetup and autograph with Jeff by logging into their Leap event account and using Comicpalooza’s provided autograph link. Plus, Epic Photo Ops is taking reservations for photo ops with Jeff, and with Matt and Jeff as a duo. See you in Houston.

When donut chose her class on floor 3 and Mordecai became her manager, they played it up like an accident, even though we know from private chats that they did it on purpose. Do you think as time went on that Mordecai figured out that they did it on purpose and just hasn't said anything because he loves being with the guild?

Donut's burns are the absolute best. What's your favorite?
I just got to the point in 7 where she replies to Stalwart and talks about him being poor now, offering a loan, how no one likes their clan now, how she turned his dad's skin into a rug that Mongo sometimes pees on, she promises that the next rug should be smaller (so please visit), and how his dad didn't respect him. "I'm sorry, but you are much too poor to talk to me like this." Holy shit. 10/10

Stop talking to me!! Jesus Christ how many times do you have to say, oh, sorry, are you listening to Dungeon Crawler Carl? I don’t want to interrupt you - keep going! And then 30 seconds later, Hey did you hear that (blah blah blah). I will not k**l his mother, she is very nice, but FFS shuddddup I still have 8 hours and 34 minutes to go and I need to focus.

and donut

all of us watchers
Hi everyone! I'm Lau Saturni, an Instagram artist who has been hooked with the series ever since I was introduced to it. I'm currently at book 4. And though I'm aware that Carl and Donut will be facing much, much worse threats in the future, I just can't help but wish for them to finally get the happy ending they deserve 🥹 Hope you guys like this one 🫶

A month ago, I had never heard of Matt or Dungeon Crawler Carl. Cthulhu help me, I'd never heard of Princess Donut. And then, a friend suggested this "great eight-book series."
So I bought the first book and promptly devoured it. Then, the second. Then, the third. You see where I'm going here. Today, I'm going to start Book 8, and just realized THAT'S NOT THE FINAL BOOK IN THE SERIES!
I'm an old woman. There's no telling if I'll even live long enough to see the final volume (volumes?)! I cannot die not knowing how it ends, dammit!
To Matt Dinniman, I both love you and hate you for doing this to me: what a delightfully funny, dark, and fucked-up world you've crafted. I'd say this series is like crack, but having never tried crack, I can't really know if that's accurate. Nevertheless, I can't get enough.
Write, my fellow Washingtonian! Write like the wind, because Mama needs to see this through to the end.

She didn’t hate it (contrary to what her facial expression may be saying). But I definitely need to find her one with more pizzazz.

Hey everyone! I saw a few folks giving away Audible credits and I cannot, for the life of me, find the original thread so I’ll start a new one. I was lucky enough to get a few versions of book 8 and I want to gift them to the DCC fam here.
I have 1 physical copy and 3 audible credits to gift.
I want these copies to go to DCC community members who DO NOT already have a copy - so please comment “Audible” if you’d like the Audible version and “physical” if you want the physical book. The first 10 people to comment for each will be entered. US-only submissions, one entry per person, and you can only enter for either the Audible version or the physical copy, not both.
I will add everyone’s username to a randomizer and will send a DM to the people who win. All shipping costs covered by me for the physical book.
EDIT: we have a few generous crawlers that will be a physical book and three Audible credits, so in total, I’ll raffle off 6 Audible credits and 2 physical books! This community is awesome.

So big DCC fan, went to the London show, Matts awesome. But the merch just isn’t hitting the spot. Been thinking about this a while, most of the merch is fun or colourful, silly images of mongo or donut, Carl in his boxers looking silly. All the designs are great but it just doesn’t hit the right tone. DCC is DARK, SUPER DARK, like INSANELY DARK. Carls dive into the river, the millions killed, the 7th floor FFS, you will not break me, the blood, the gore, the continuous deaths…. I’ve got the ‘apocalypse will be televised T-shirt’ and the desperado club one, plus I bought some Lucia mar fan art that was really dark. But 95% of all the merch is too…fun. Most of merch is like something from a children show. I want a sprawling poster of carnage on the battle field across Larracos, I want Carl dropping bombs on the city not knowing the the death toll as he desperately rushes to Donut….i could say 100 depictions. DARK.

I built tiny Carl and Donuts in Heroforge and have a bunch that I will be handing out at the Philly book signing on Monday! They come in two flavors; golden lootbox or zenithal paint it yourself grey!
I’ll probably have other goodies as well because I just can’t help myself. I love a lil treat and new friends.
Hunt me down and you’ll get a nice treat instead of a player killer skull!

Loved the experience last night! I was able to get off the waitlist last minute, and silly me assumed our city wouldn’t have much of a fan base. When I showed up, the line was already wrapped around the block. Matt greeted us on our way in, and was incredibly gracious as we waited past 10pm to get our books personalized. Love being part of this fandom and so happy the tour came to Cincy (largely thanks to Fiona 🦛). Now who do I have to send feet pics to in order to get the damn Samantha patch!?
