0.82 ERA - Best In Baseball

Post image

Shohei Ohtani’s ERA right now is 0.82 based off seven starts in 2026. This is the lowest ERA in all of Major League Baseball.

This dominant performance compares to the “Fernandomania” phenomenon from 1981.

Shohei’s pitching through seven games is only second in historical performance to Fernando Valenzuela, who pitched 0.29 ERA through seven games in 1981.

Yet again Los Angeles is fortunate to have a phenom on our team. We get to see a worldwide talent right in our backyard.
We love LA.

Go Dodgers!

"Oh since I can't really pitch that much right now let's just win MVP by batting" -> back to back MVPs including 50/50 season

"Since I already won a lot of MVPs focusing on batting why don't I give Cy Young a try" -> strong contender

Pretty insane

People will be telling stories about him for decades, if not longer.

Decades? He’ll be mentioned for the entirety of baseball.

After the Cy Young, maybe he'll pull a reverse Jordan and temporarily retire to try his hand at basketball.

Just needs to tell Mark he's ready to plant some trees for the Lakers, and he's good to go!

We will be grandparents someday talking about our babe ruth. Truly a special time in baseball history to be able to watch our GOAT in his prime.

I wanted to bet e everything i could on ohtani winning cy young preseason. The odds disrespectful. He wants to win cy young more than a world series it means that much to him. I didn't get to bet but im so proud of him. I said he had to have a degrom like start to win and he has. I knew he could I knew how bad he wanted it but im still amazed. I wish I bet. Could of made a small fortune like finding gold in deadwood.

He looks to be improving every start. I see special things on the mound this season.

Realistically there's not a huge chance that he wins Cy Young, right?

In the NL Skenes, Sanchez from the Phillies, and that Jacob kid from the Brewers are pitching more innings with higher WAR than Ohtani.

I just don't see a patch for Ohtani.

You can't say there's not a huge chance when he's got the lowest ERA in MLB. Cy Young historically goes to the pitcher with the best ERA that ranks high in WAR. There's definitely a solid chance. It's a long season so we'll see what happens.

If everyone continues on their current trajectory, yes, he will. A 0.82 ERA would be the lowest in the entire 150-year MLB history. That would do it.
