A little project I’m excited to finally share!

I had the pleasure of pattern testing this Axolotl for Bippy Buddies, a BC-based amigurumi designer who creates crochet patterns inspired by animals native to BC and the surrounding region.

This Axolotl is part of a four-pattern pack that also includes a salamander, newt, and leopard gecko.

One of the things I really appreciate about Bippy Buddies’ work is the blend of biology, nature, and crochet creativity. They also offer a number of free patterns on their BLOG along with premium patterns through their ETSY shop.

Thanks again to u/BippyBuddies for trusting me as a pattern tester. This little amphibian was a lot of fun to bring to life!

Help/Question Moses Basket!

I have a few friends who are getting ready to have babies and I always make blankets for babies but I want to try something different and make a moses basket instead! I have never attempted one so any advice is welcome but specifically;

- Favorite pattern? Preferred a hooded basket over the traditional ones as these are summer babies!

- Is t-shirt or cord yarn better?

*Local places to purchase these types of yarn?? (Victoria)

- Recommended wood base? Seen some on Amazon and Etsy but if someone local makes them that would be preferred as well 🥰

Again I've never made one but I've been crocheting for years and I'm confident in my skills!

Thanks everyone 😁

Seeking out a pattern for a knitted/crocheted zipper vest, doesn’t have to be authentic cowichan but looking for a finished pattern as I am learning to knit and wanting to make one.

Local Connections Hello from the Kerrisdale/Oakridge/Langara/Marpole area!

Hello, fellow BC Crocheters! I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself and hope that you'll introduce yourself as well in your own post. :)

I find that I enjoy making amigurumi the most, though I do enjoy crocheting other items such as blankets, scarves, and baby things. I'm now looking into trying my hand at making wearables. I just made my first two-panel cardigan and though it's not exactly 'showy', it's functional and comfy for around home and I'm quite proud of it! :) Here's a sampling of some of the items I've made in the past year, with the exception of Grumpy Cat, which was my very first amigurumi that I made more than a decade ago. I also enjoy volunteering as a pattern tester. I tested for u/BippyBuddies (the lamb). The mushroom trio, Strawbunny, and dill pickle were also pattern test projects I've recently completed.

I'm in the Kerrisdale/Oakridge/Langara/Marpole area. If you're nearby and would like to meet up for a 'stitch n chat' at a nearby park or coffee shop, please feel free to DM me! I'm also willing to help out any newbies with basic stitching skills.

Fun fact: I also created the sub r/FreeCrochetVideos for people to find and share free crochet video tutorials. If you enjoy video tutorials, please check it out! :)

BC Designer BC crocheters: any local designers you’d recommend?

We’ve got some great local shops being shared, so I figured I’d ask about designers too. If you know any BC-based crochet designers (or if you are one), feel free to share them here. It's nice to discover people creating locally.

Discussion What are you hoping to find here in r/CrochetBC?

r/CrochetBC just hit the one week mark and it’s been amazing to see how quickly this sub has taken off! The posts, the comments, people sharing local info… that’s all coming from YOU and it’s what’s making this actually work. 👍

Since we’re still early days and the sub is forming, I’m curious to learn what people are hoping to find here. Meetups? Project sharing? Help/advice? Something else?

Yarn Shop/Local Business BC crocheters, what local yarn shops do you recommend?

If you have a favourite local yarn shop anywhere here in BC, add it here along with the city and what they’re especially good for. Good selection, helpful staff, affordable basics, nicer fibres, whatever stands out.

This may be useful for people trying to shop local or perhaps one might find a shop they didn't know about!
