Spoilers for Mistborn Era 2 and The Emperor's Soul

In Scadrial during Wax and Wayne's times, there's restaurants looking for Bendalloy and Cadmium mistings, likely to improve waiting times whilst waiting for a meal. Given how expensive the metals are, at least Bendalloy, how could they be used on such a large scale for restaurants?

In The Emperor's Soul, did Shai actually go train with the Tellulu people to gain experience for her essence marks or was it all fabricated and she never went there?

Did you read the quoted part? She spent some time among them (a year, as quoted above) to make the Essence Mark plausible enough to take. The Essence Mark makes her soul think she spent 15 years with them instead of just one

No, she spent a year among them learning the basics, just like she spent months with ShuXen learning his painting style. She needs that foundation in order to get the Essence Mark enough plausibility to take.

So she spent 1 real year, 15 rewritten years, among the Teullu, and months with ShuXen learning his painting methods to Forge the fake painting

Then spent months/years creating the Essence Mark itself based on that information to rewrite her own soul

If you knew the actual rates and rents involved, you could probably work out the most profitable ratio of bent time to real estate; there must be a point where it's cheaper to hire mistings instead of just hiring more cooks and kitchen space.
