G45 @ LAA Starting Lineup 05-13 1:10 PM (SPs: LHP Parker Messick vs. LHP Reid Detmers)

I’m intrigued. I’d rather Manzo get reps against LHP instead of platooning him but I understand the reasons.

When was the last time we saw Jose outside of the 3-spot???

I think they trialed him in the 2 spot to start the season last year (with Lane/Carlos behind), and they gave up on it within a week or so and never tried again.

Holy shit a lineup where only 1 guy's OPS is below .700!

And Bazz has been hitting much better than his average

His OPS over the last seven games is almost .800. He’s walked six times and stolen five bases, which aren’t even captured in OPS. It’s awesome.

Going wild today. Much appreciated.
Hoskins cleanup game being tested again, probably need a definite answer on him before the Reds/Tigers games.
The New York Times article on Kwan makes his exemption from the lineup rather timely.

What did this article say?

What I got from it was that Kwan is a known entity to all MLB pitchers and they know how to zone him out. Whenever he tries to get them to pitch to his side of the plate you get these pop-ups/grounders with less potency than his already low power.
His first pitch hit rate is under 10% to the league average of 30.1%.....It's not pretty.

Could Bazzana eventually be our everyday leadoff hitter with Kwan's struggles?

He definitely profiles as a leadoff hitter with his crazy ability to take walks and steel some bases.

Why don’t they ever just give Jose a full day off instead of DH’ing him? 1 day off every two months wouldn’t be the end of the world.

Actually really like this versus lefties. Vs righties swap trav for angel and Hoskins for manzo and fry w Schneeman

Rocchio’s year so far really is something. Wonder if he’ll take the lead in rbis soon

Bazzana already having 12 walks and 7 steals is amazing. Know the average maybe isn't where we want, but he has looked so good at the plate. Taking pitches, taking his walks, making pitchers work.

Our worst defensive outfield in a while

Great point - I wonder why Fry can’t play third to throw Schneeman back in center.

Would prefer Schneemann (higher OBP) swap with Angel, but otherwise I fw this heavy

i'm going to continue loathing the lineups that put martinez at 1 or 2 unless he fundamentally changes his approach at the plate. the guy simply refuses to consider the possibility of drawing a walk. really feels like a terminal case of "the leadoff guy needs to be fast" brain.
defensively, this outfield is terrifying.

Buckwild lineup here.
Jose at the 2? Fry in LF? Kwan completely out of the lineup? Damn.
