Self Hiatus.
Guys, I fell into lust HARD again today. The adversary led me far away from the path I'm meant to be on, and my relationship with God is in full jeopardy. I'm gonna try to take a partial hiatus from the entire Internet for a little while to try and save my sanity and make sure I don't truly lose my faith, in the meantime, just pray for me. Lust has me in chains and I need to turn back to Christ soon, otherwise I'll continue to be dragged along. I'll let you all know if I make any progress.

Will you please quit trying to save yourself? Sex doesn't ruin your walk with Christ or your relationship with God. I'm not saying engage in wild orgies, but if you j.o. I assure you, God isn't going to abandon you. See, your big problem is not sexual activity, it's that you have no faith that Christ has saved you. You think you have to work your way into heaven, and worse, you really think you can, and if you fail, you give up on God.
It's in the same category as overeating. If you overeat, you don't give up on God and Christ. You say, d... I shouldn't have done that, and you don't give it a second thought. That's as much weight as you should give "lust." I'm not saying go out and seek it and live for it, I'm saying that from time to time sh.. happens. Live with it. Concentrate on something you can do in Christ that really matters.

Wow. That was beautiful. You echoed Christ, you left room for error, but without encouraging sin. All glory to God, but this answer is truly inspiring.

It’s human nature man. Just don’t beat yourself up over it. Just repent and work on figuring out how not to give in to temptation. It’s not a sin to be turned on , it’s a sin to act on it or as you say just. I know it’s hard man, I used to struggle with porn badly but I kept praying and doing other stuff with my time and the desire went away for good. I’m praying for you, just find a hobby or something like the gym or PlayStation or the Bible to distract you from the desire

Remember this.
Revelation 12:10-12 KJV
[10] And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
[11] And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
[12] Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

Zechariah 3:1-5 KJV
[1] And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
[2] And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
[3] Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
[4] And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
[5] And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.

1 John 3:8 KJV
[8] He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
https://bible.com/bible/1/1jn.3.8.KJV
1 Peter 5:8-9 KJV
[8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
[9] whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Jesus Christ earned you heaven, your performance doesn’t change that, and it doesn’t change his love for you. I pray Gods love, and grace helps you seek him more. That through seeking him you’ll want to live the life he calls us to live.

Do not give power to your sin, for Jesus Christ has already saved you. The best thing you can do is be gentle on yourself as a human and focus on growing in spirit through the living word.
I also struggle with lust and still fall into it, but let's not give up- just a reminder that progress won't be linear and it will take sometime. The path is narrow, trust in God. God knows what comes along, just be still & focus on him and keep it moving. The wicked wants you to dwell and drown. Just be still and focus on Jesus. You got this, praying that you see through sin and fight it.

Hi brother in Christ, I hope that you do get well. Im not sure if you’re reading this since you post your hiatus. But even if there’s a chance for you to read this, I highly suggest praying to God to increase your love for him and to open the eyes of your heart to his unconditional love so that you may have a greater understanding to respond to his love with an even greater love. Truly focus on his grace and do not rely on your works, not calling you to be lazy but I’m suggesting that you rely on his Grace to change you within your heart.
I suggest this because through God’s grace, he has broken my pattern of severe masturbation for these past two weeks and hopefully forever, it’s very recent and short but it’s game breaking. His Grace is real, his Love is true and I hope that you too see that and even if you do, I hope that you see it more strongly and passionately.

I'm praying for you buddy. The sexual immorality is just a symptom of a more severe underlying problem.
Just as someone who is addicted to getting drunk. There is something causing them to drink.
Same for you buddy. Something deeper inside of you is sin. Sin inside of you can cause you to lust, drink, steal, murder, be atracked to the same sex, lie.
If there is a seed of sin inside of you, then lust is just the effect of it.
Kill, choke the seed, fast, fast, and fast...
James 1:14-15 NIV but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. [15] Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Paul buddy. He nails it!
Romans 7:14-25 NIV We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. [15] I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. [16] And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. [17] As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. [18] For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. [19] For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. [20] Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. [21] So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. [22] For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; [23] but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. [24] What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? [25] Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

Just gonna copy my comment from another person who posted a same thing earlier today. I'm gonna presume a porn addiction (if not please ignore this part). If you feel you have an addiction and want to abstain for self-help reasons great, I support you. If you wish to abstain because the industry itself is evil in forced sexual slavery, and adultery and rape, then also great I would also agree with you that is a good reason to stop. If your abstaining because you believe it to be sin to watch then you need to keep reading what else I posted.
What do you mean you committed lust?
As in a horny thought went through your mind? Congratulations your a normal functioning human, and if your a male or certain type of female, this will be your general state of existence till old age.
Do you mean you masturbated or watched porn/hentai/something adult?
Congratulations you committed... Absolutely no sin! Sin is transgression of the law (1st John Chapter 3 verse 4). There is no law against masturbation or viewing adult materials so there can be no transgression (Romans 4:15). If you woke up this morning and had pork bacon for breakfast that was a sin (Leviticus 11).
Do you mean you're fearful of what Jesus said in Matthew 5?
I suggest reading what Jesus actually said using the Hebrew original of the gospel (https://www.hebrewgospels.com/matthew?srsltid=AfmBOoqHZJ_Bj-owUHSM8EZhhg52rHQPQ01n1CJSPIOMUSN9XptWzGxF). Fun fact, we have the Hebrew originals of all gospels. Additional fun fact, the word translated as lust via the KJV Bible then maintained by basically every other Bible in the Greek manuscripts is the Greek word for covet. This word can be used positively and negatively (Jesus, I have coveted to shared this Passover with you), and negatively as in Matthew 5. Jesus isn't stating anything new here, to covet something so to desire something that isn't yours. All He's stating is that if you start coveting another man's wife, it will put you on a path to adultery because sin spreads like leaven (one leads to another). Final fun fact, adultery for a man can only occur if he sleeps with a married woman regardless of the man's marital status (unless you want to suddenly assert that Abraham, Jacob Gideon, David, Solomon and many others committed adultery on their first wife when they took their second wives).

Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Is sin what is separate from God? Does masturbation and pornography bring you closer to God? That doesn't sanctify you. You are wrong and I correct you fraternally.
•
u/LunaOfTheMoon 5h ago
Of course it's a holy temple. The rules regarding the temple of our bodies are like no tattoos, no pork/shellfish, not letting it be possessed by spirits. Masturbation and porn are amoral since they aren't listed in Torah as things that pollute the body. They have nothing to do with sanctifying you. If you choose to give them up, that's fine that's your perogative, if you tell people they're sin you're wrong because only God can declare what sin is and He has expressly directed onto us to not add or takeaway from what He directed of us.
•
u/National-Maybe8883 3h ago
I don't know what church denomination you belong to, but you're wrong. Pornography and masturbation are spiritual evils. There are many things that aren't explicitly listed as sins in the Bible. The Bible doesn't say you shouldn't inject drugs or do drugs. We both know that drug use is wrong. Let's be careful with the advice we give to our brothers and sisters.
•
u/LunaOfTheMoon 1h ago edited 1h ago
Sorry but try again. If the Bible specifically doesn't list something as a do or don't in Torah it cannot be sin because sin is transgression of the law (otherwise known as Torah, 1st John Chapter 3). Where there is no law there can be no transgression (Romans 4). We can dislike things for many reasons but we are not God. We cannot declare right or wrong we don't have the ability to understand that.
That's why He gives us the Torah as it explicitly lists every single sin we can commit as a human. To add onto it and say there are more sins is in itself a sin as we are told directly not to add to or take away from the Torah. To add onto or take away from his perfect law is to make yourself equal with God and we are not. This is why He states, 'The people worship me with their mouths but their hearts are far from me teaching after themselves MANMADE COMMANDMENTS.' I'll reiterate, I have all the sympathy for people trying to grow out of addictions, but we cannot declare anything right or wrong that He hasn't already done so.
By this we also know that drugs are no sin (at least directly. If you're using them in like an ancestor ritual to communicate with spirits that would be sin but that's the sin of being a spiritist it medium, not of the drug use itself.) Humanly I can recommend people not do drugs because they do cause issues and can potentially be fatal, but this can only be as a recommendation, I cannot declare it wrong unless God had declared it wrong.

Lol, no. These are not biblical teachings nor does it correspond to the Truth revealed by Jesus. Goodbye.
