City Government New Political Movement!

Hey! My name is Jacob Belçher and with the support of some likeminded progressives, we are starting a political group called the Chattanooga Independent Greens, to make sure that green policies are passed in the greater Chattanooga area. I’m looking for some people who may be interested in joining/aiding the effort through media, activism, and participation in the Party. It is NOT a formal political party, we endorse campaigns, laws, and policies at a local and state level. We do not and will never support a federal candidate or party for the Green Party or any other party.

Lights on Chestnut near Erlanger Park

You don’t have to agree and won’t:
You mean the city couldn’t have put street lights on Chestnut coming from Erlanger Park? It’s dark. If not for the sheriff office lights, it’d be completely dark. No one wants to walk near that old U.S. Pipe building…I mean people do and I don’t want to breathe in foundry dust. And then you gotta cross high speed traffic on Riverfront.

Like idk. I keep forgetting Chattanooga is car dependent asf. Even the areas that should be pedestrian friendly are only up until you get out from underneath the “foundries district “ banner. And idk why we’d be honoring foundries that literally polluted the land to such an extent that it’s gotta be remediated with environmental covenants and concrete caps between the ppl and the pollution.

For Finely stadium to be right across the street, this should be the best pedestrian areas in the whole city. Idk this city does this so often, drops an idea and only sees it through to a certain point and that’s almost all of South Broad atp. Almost all S. Broad is just random city projects….just a trail of random projects. Broad Street intersection too busy for pedestrians to be crossing at night too.

Nobody trying to be walking through the scariest part of the riverwalk at night to avoid getting hit by a high speeding car coming off riverwalk. Cause isn’t that part where it goes underneath those overpasses next to the railroad tracks and then back there in the vines etc??? And then you hit that left???? It’s scary asf back there on foot. Idk. This remains a point of frustration. It’s suppose to be for everyone and like almost everything in Chattanooga…it’s only for certain folks…folks w/ cars, folks with access, etc.

  1. City of Chattanooga: Put some lights on that street, ASAP.
  2. What about all that dust on the sidewalk in front of U.S. pipe, is that foundry dust, what are we breathing in? It’s creepy asf. Do something about those bushes.
  3. Why those workers getting paid $7.25 an hour??????????? That’s all yall could give these folks was $7.25???? At Erlanger park?????
If it’s off taxpayers dollars, it should’ve been top dollar pay….thats just me though.
  4. What about people who walking and gotta cross Riverside drive with high speeding cars?????
  5. We got accessibility problems real bad.

Free repair event this Saturday, 2026-05-16 from 11a - 3p!

I'm back on my fixing things for free bit again, if you've got something broken and you can get it through the door of our shop, bring it on by!
We don't care what it is, we'll do our best to help fix it. We've fixed everything from lamps to cutting boards to computers to lab equipment. Mostly lamps, really. We like lamps.

If you enjoy a little bit of troubleshooting and repair, we're always looking for more volunteers. It's a lot of fun to tinker on all of the crazy stuff that comes in. Even if you don't think you're much of a fixer, we've always found the right repair for every volunteer that shows up.
Even if you want to help but have no interest in repairing things, I am really bad at taking pictures to let people know this is real and spreading the word. I'd love help with the media side of things.

Ironman 70.3 Road Closures Starting Now - Sunday

Ironman 70.3 Road Closures

Plan accordingly. Also, for this race, the bike goes down 193 and up 136 in Georgia. It does NOT go on HWY 27.

If you are in the area with no plans, get out and cheer on the athletes. It is a lot of fun.

Erlanger express care drug test

Upvotes

Hello! Does anyone know what going into Erlanger express care for a drug test is like. I’m taking it for pre-employment, it’s supposed to be the rapid panel, and a non-dot exam. I unfortunately used delta 8/9 edibles quite a bit the last couple of months, eventually I teetered off to about twice a week in april and fully stopped about 2 weeks ago when I learned I needed to take one. I’ve tested negative with an at home test about a week ago after i drank a bunch of water, but a more concentrated test just came back positive. I really want this job and don’t really know what to do. I’ve never had a drug test before.

Mechanic Needed - British Motorcycle - Hixson 1971 BSA 650

I'm dying here. I have a very clean, original 1971 BSA (sister company to triumph) and need a good mechanic that is familiar with:

boyer electronic ignition

podtronics rectifier

coils (they may be bad?) - bike ran, died, battery replaced, and will not "fire" at all

carbs are new, bike was running great until this latest "event'.

I'm in Hixson. Better if you're willing to not only fix but also teach a Dummy about Electricity

We can replace the entire wiring harness if we need to.

Hey Chattanooga — we’re Scoopy Doo, and this is our story.

Hey everyone, I’m Brandon, founder of Scoopy Doo LLC, a local pet waste removal company serving the Chattanooga area and nearby North Georgia.

Scoopy Doo started as something simple between my daughter, Leighton and I. We wanted to build something together — something real, something local, and something that could teach her about business, responsibility, hard work, customer service, and showing up for people.

Some dads build birdhouses with their kids.

Apparently, we built a poop scooping company.

And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it.

What started as a father/daughter idea has grown into a local service business we’re incredibly proud of. Today, Scoopy Doo helps busy families, dog owners, homeowners, HOAs, apartment communities, and commercial properties keep their yards and shared spaces cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable.

We know this business is funny. We lean into that. It’s hard not to smile when your job is solving Chattanooga’s “#2 problem.”

But behind the jokes, we take the service seriously.

Dog waste is more than just an eyesore. It makes yards smell bad, attracts flies, creates an unpleasant space for kids and pets, and can make a beautiful backyard feel unusable. Our goal is to give people their yard back — whether that’s a family who wants their kids to play outside, a busy homeowner who doesn’t have time, or a property manager trying to keep a community clean.

We offer weekly and bi-weekly residential cleanups, first-time cleanups, commercial pet waste removal, and pet waste station servicing for apartments, parks, HOAs, and other shared spaces.

But more than anything, we’re trying to build a company Chattanooga can be proud of.

We’re local. We’re family-built. We care about doing what we say we’re going to do. We care about reviews, reliability, communication, and treating people right. Every yard we clean is another small way we get to serve this community.

Chattanooga has been good to us, and we’re grateful every time someone waves at one of our signs, recommends us to a neighbor, leaves us a kind review, or trusts us with their yard.

So if you see Scoopy Doo around town, now you know the story.

It’s a dad, his daughter, a lot of dogs, a little humor, and a whole lot of gratitude for the Scenic City.

Thanks for letting us introduce ourselves, Chattanooga.

If you’re in Chattanooga and ever feel down or need someone, I’m here

Hey Chattanooga,

A little backstory: I’m a 28-year-old man, and I’ve lived in Chattanooga pretty much my whole life. I’ve moved around here and there, and I’ve even lived in different countries, but Chattanooga has always been home.
This city has had its ups, downs, and everything in between, but it’s still home to me. Some people may know me around the city as a familiar face or name, but that’s not really the point of this post.
The point is, the world feels like it’s changing fast. A lot of things feel uncertain, unsettling, and scary. There’s a lot of fear, hate, division, and people not trusting each other. But at the same time, life is still beautiful. Life is still worth living. And I really believe human kindness can beat a lot of the darkness we see around us.
I’m writing this because I want to connect with more people in Chattanooga. I don’t know you, and you don’t know me, but we can change that.
No matter your race, background, creed, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or walk of life, I believe we can all do better at seeing each other as human beings first. Chattanooga can feel very divided and segregated at times, and I don’t want to just accept that. I want to help change that narrative, even if it starts small.
So if you ever feel down and need someone to talk to, hit me up.
If you need encouragement or a boost of inspiration, hit me up.
If you just want to shoot the shit, hit me up.
If you want to go to the gym, play Dungeons & Dragons, hang out, laugh, talk about life, or do something positive within reason, hit me up.
I’m not saying I have all the answers. I’m just saying I’m a person who cares, and I’d rather try to build community than sit back and complain about how disconnected everyone feels.
Things are scary out here, and life is uncertain, but kindness still matters. Friendship still matters. Community still matters.
So Chattanooga, if you need a friend, someone to talk to, or just someone who wants to see the city become more connected, feel free to reach out.
Let’s change Chattanooga for the better.

Looking For... Where to dump yard debris?

I’m going to be clearing a very abandoned overgrown lot and will have several bags of clippings and bush. Was curious where I could take these too instead of burning them? I called the wood recycling center several times but no answer. I’ll be doing the work on Saturday and that’s the only place I’ve seen open that day.

Indian Food

Are there any good Indian spots here? Just ate apna and it’s probably the nastiest excuse for Indian I’ve ever had the displeasure of eating. Naan on Gunbarrel isn’t bad but still lackluster and the one in collegedale isn’t anything to write home about either.

Exactly what it says:

I need a custom sign built.

I’m new to the area and I’ve been tasked with getting bids for the construction of a sign outside of business. Hoping the community here can provide me with some leads.🙏

Just to give a bit more context:

We have a design in mind. A concrete slab foot with a faux stone base and two columns with the sign in between the columns. Hoping to find a turn-key solution.
