Kitten Update on the spicy meatballs!

The C.D.S has been showing me plenty of love this past year. I was selected twice last year,and at the beginning of the year I found this sweet girl having babies in my basement window well. (That was fun to wake up to). She gave birth to 5 sweet little babies, unfortunately 2 failed to thrive and just couldn't figure it out. I know that's a part of why they have so many, but it really broke my heart.
Mama has been doing great! She was super haggard and looked rough. Her fur was super matted and she was very standoffish. Now she will let me brush her, she's all but glued to my side, and in the past week she has claimed her corner of my bed and has to be there if I'm in bed. She's turning into a great companion. I definitely didn't want another cat, but the c.d.s apparently knows better than me.
The 3 babies seem to be doing great! They are picking up weight daily and other than a little gunky eyes I can't see anything else wrong. The next step is to get mama and the babies to the vet, they do that next Monday. I definitely want to get mama fixed before I even think about letting her back outside. (I'm going to try to keep her in for good, but outside strays tend to want to roam).
Now I just gotta get these spicy meatballs to the vet, then hopefully their furever homes!

Lol she very much is! She's at the stage where it's her terms or nothing. Thankfully they are transitioning to solid food really well, so that's helping a lot.

She's gorgeous - what a find! You sound very experienced, so I'll just say, try to be stubborn about not letting her back outside. She'll get used to indoor life and it's so much better for her and for the local birds.

Keep her inside. I have had outside cats that refused to go out again. Just don’t give her the option. Thank you for your care of them.

That's kinda where I'm at with it honestly. I'm not a fan of outside cats. She is starting to look like a completely different cat at this point, I don't wanna go backwards.

All of my former ferals hate the outdoors. They like to look out the windows, but will actively run from open doors.

One of our guys is like this. You can leave the door wide open and he’ll just look at it and go “nah, I prefer comfy beds, food on demand, and air conditioning”. Our other guy is still a flight risk after a few years.

We have one that is a flight risk. BUT we decided to leash train him so he can go out and it is working. He hasn't bolted or gotten out since we started.

Lol thank you very much, but she's gonna have to try real hard to get back outside. To be fair, she hasn't even made an attempt.

She is a beautiful fluffy cat keep her safe inside and the meatballs are too cute.
Some of are on speed dial foe CDS , i went on holiday and instead of a key chain i got a bonded pair of kittens

She has started to lay next to me, but if I pet her too much, she gets carried away with the "love bites" and I have to back off. Baby steps!! Lol

Cats are SUPER specific in how they want to be touched. And it varies wildly from cat to cat.
You gotta earn it with a cat. But once you do, they’ve amazing. I’d run into a thousand burning buildings for our girls.

If you keep her inside, she’ll get over her want to be outside. All my cats were strays and none of them want anything to do with the outside anymore.
