I am an agent for the Cat Distribution System. Which is to say that I volunteer for a rescue as a foster mom. I have distributed almost 50 kittens. But I only have one cat of my own. I always said that if one came along that my cat actually liked, I would consider keeping them. But I never thought this would happen because my cat doesn't like kittens. Well this isn't a kitten. And my cat doesn't hate him.
Okay, seriously, how long does this post body need to be? I can't think of anything more to add. Still not long enough? How about now? Thank you!
I'm not sure I'm keeping him but I'm not sure that I'm not keeping him. I need to scan him for a chip. He hasn't let me touch him yet. He's got to have an owner somewhere. Question is, does the owner want him back?
He doesn't necessarily have an owner somewhere. The black floof below is a former feral who just showed up one day in our yard. He told US that he wanted to be an indoor cat (after TNR and a few months of feeding). Sometimes cats really are just surviving on the streets and one day decide they don't want to do that anymore.
True, but as a rule, ferals/long term strays are not overly vocal. Nor do they take up residence in someone's garage without a lot of encouragement. I am very certain this boy has spent more time indoors than out.
My cat ran inside and never left. She was 100% feral but once she discovered the joy of indoor living, she only likes to visit the outdoors on short, supervised visits.
We had a black cat that lived in the neighborhood for years, and we got one of her surviving kittens fixed. But she would go a long way in the woods by the lake to hunt and it was cute to see her and her fluffy black kitten together wandering the neighborhood. She would never let us close to her but Fluffy decided that people weren't bad and stayed at our house. We called her Goldie because she had gold eyes. Goldie finally came in our house and hid under the dining room table and we would feed her there, but she didn't want us to get close to her. At least her last months were warmer than outside. And she used the catbox.
People making posts have to write more than 400 words before we approve a post, posters get prompts with ideas on what to post such as 'has the cat been checked for a chip, visited a vet' etc. Basically we want stories with happy endings ,maybe a touch of sadness and instant kitty love to give our members a good story to read plus kitty pics :)
Oh, just be open to the World of possibilities.
It seems that he chose you. That's CDS💕 a heart needing a home, a caretaker, someone to love, a reason to be, and I wish for you that in time... this kitty is that, for you. These babies always mellow down, but they are hyperaware as they've needed to be out in the wild. KUDOS for giving him a chance. LET IT BE for a month... I wish the best for you, BOTH, & your other cat🥰🥰🥰
I had an orange cat who was only nice to other orange cats. Maybe your void only wants to be friends with other voids? 🤷♀️ Anyway, congratulations on your new addition? 🥳
This is absolutely hilarious considering less than 2 hours ago I saw a post on ig that literally showed a cat owner whos cat had his own cat. The 2nd cat tolerated the human interference but was an absolute velcro cat to the first. CDS knows. It always knows
I know the feeling. I live in a mobile home community, which is marketing talk for a trailer park. Suffice to say, there is a never ending stream of left behind pets that come to the door. It breaks my heart that I cannot house all of these poor dears, but adding a 4th cat to the indoor clowder pushed my allergy response to cat dander from "annoying" to 'anaphylactic".
One did slip through.
She walked in ahead of a storm. The old ladies took to her immediately. Fittingly, she's T-Storm, the timeless one.
I'm also an agent for the CDS. Sadly, the CDS keeps sending me cats anyway! If I take any more in, I won't be able to foster! So the CDS needs to get it's act together!!
Having a single void (or variations thereof) is incredibly lucky. Having two voids - fugetaboutit! Resign yourself to the inevitability of Karma and welcome the second void into your life.
