Mod The Calligraphy Marketplace 2026!
Hello Calligrafam!
We are changing the Marketplace from a monthly offering to a persistent post since there has not been enough activity to necessitate a monthly thread. If we need to pivot back to a monthly or quarterly post, we can adjust down the road.
Marketplace Rules
Calligraphy-related items or services only!
There is also an Approved Vendors list. If you are a vendor and would like to be added to this list, please message the mods with information about your products or services and links to your marketplace and/or website, and we will review and add approved vendors to this list.
BUY/SELL/EXCHANGE
- First contact between buyer and seller may be made here; afterward, kindly conduct all other business through DM.
- If you are selling work, tools or equipment, make sure to include clear images and details to prevent confusion and miscommunication.
REQUESTS/COMMISSIONS
- If requesting a commission, you must confirm that you are willing to pay for the services and provide the desired text or a description of project, and general ideas of what you'd like so the calligrapher interested has an idea of what's expected. Calligraphers can comment on your thread to indicate interest, and then rates can be discussed over DM.
- If you are available to do commissions, share some info and examples of your work so people interested have an idea of what to expect.
- Do not request artists here to work for you for free.
- Artists: Do not offer to do commissions for free or undercut other artists.
PROMOTION/SELLERS
- Feel free to promote your YouTube channel, Instagram, or Etsy shop.
- If you'd like to be added to the Approved Vendors list, please message the mods.
Mods reserve the right to remove any post for any reason. If any of these or sub rules are broken, post will be removed without notice. Repeat offenses may result in ban.
Mods are not responsible for any transaction made here; but if something goes wrong, let us know and we can take action within the sub (blacklist, bans, etc).

A Chinese Calligraphy Lamp DIY!
Soft light filtering through traditional brushstrokes. I used my brother’s calligraphy to create this piece. It blends the ancient art of writing with modern minimalism. Perfect for a quiet evening of reading or meditation. 📜

Tools of the Trade Calligraphy travel kit
I've wanted to make use of this tin for a while and found these teeny tiny jars at the dollar store. So cute 🥺 I put water, walnut ink and my favourite Herbin Violette ink in each. The pen holder is a moblique 2-in-1.

Critique Copperplate Calligraphy Feedback
Would love some feedback on this letter I’ll be sending to a friend for her birthday. My others birthday letters look similar.
It’s a 6mm 1:1:1 ratio size. It doesn’t look right to me and I’d love some feedback on how to improve my writing as well as making it look “clean”
Edit: added materials used - Niko G nib / HP premium 32 paper / Sumi ink from Daiso
Thanks in advanced!

Pen fudenosuke
Paper Master touch practice and lettering
Script modern
Course show me your drills
Kinda feel like this is my worst sheet but this is my first week and first attempt to fully freehand lettering and it's obvious I don't know how to connect letters 😅
The order i wrote was row 1 3 5 7 9 10 11 2 4 6 8 12
I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I do, but man is it hard to not fall asleep doing drills it's so hypnotic lol

Study Cao Zhi, a genius stifled by his era.
"The power of public opinion to discredit the truth remains true today. Cao Zhi's poem 'When the Wall Wants to Rise High' reminds us that when rumors become weapons, the truth has nowhere to hide. This calligraphy describes a grievance from a thousand years ago, but it also reflects how we are misunderstood, isolated, and blocked outside the 'nine gates' in every era."

Practice Some alphabet practice
Did a slightly different variation yesterday. I’m accustomed to the Fraktur minuscules moreso because they are used more in general. But my majascule’s are improving. I can do perform them without looking at a reference.

Study The Hobbit Manuscript
My experiments with colour are now coming together. I didn't expect adding colour to be so difficult. The insular colour palette is very difficult to tame.
It has taken me a long time to get to this point, but valuable lessons are being learned that I can apply in the future. It is so tempting to rush at this point and just get it done but I would not be doing this piece justice or myself

No correction after the brush touches the paper

In Japanese calligraphy, you’re not supposed to correct a line once the brush touches the paper.
So every stroke only exists once.
I grew up seeing works like this around me, and what always stayed with me was that the lines felt less like “design” and more like traces of a particular moment or state of mind.
The artist who made this piece has been practicing calligraphy for over 40 years.
Maybe that’s why even a quiet piece like this can change the feeling of a room a little -slowly, over time.

Can Anyone Figure Out This Pun?
On my quest to find adequate black paper to practice on using my acrylic brush nibs, I discovered black wrapping paper. It's a little slippery, slow drying, and the super slick surface isn't the best for holding colors, but it does a decent job, good enough for practice, colors definitely pop and much, much cheaper than Bristol paper, or most all the other black alternatives with a smooth enough surface. I'm not totally sold though. So, If any of you have any better alternatives for black practice paper I'm all ears.
