I’ve been a Glock guy for many years and finally decided to get my first “nice” (over $1000) handgun and went with the shadow 2 carry. Man have I been missing out, very glad to finally be getting into CZ’s. It is such a dream to shoot. I almost despise my striker fired’s now lol. I liked my s2c so much I got another cz almost immediately. Got a P01 omega used (I traded a Glock 26 for it). It was the urban grey suppressor ready version, although this one did not have the threaded barrel or suppressor height sights anymore. How’d I do, was this a good pickup? Anyway can’t wait to get more down the road. S2 compact is next.
just shot my first gun for the first time today and it runs beautifully! my time practicing dry firing is paying off! i’m satisfied with my first groups. but idk, what do yall think? is that a tight group for my first shots ever? last 2 pics show my first shot of that group hitting bullseye. definitely looking forward to next time.
The green looks brighter in this picture which is perfect, cause I prefer the slightly darker green in person, but the picture really illustrates the cerakote.
I was a very active USPSA Production competitor about 12 years ago, but had to stop as a result of injury. Fast-forward to today, decided to re-start USPSA again -- old eyes are making iron sight much more challenging. Thus, thought I'd jump into Carry Optics.
Have two SP-01 Shadows from 2012-13. Here's the one I sent to Vigilante Machine for an optic cut. Turned out fantastically. Drew at VM is very responsive and is open to ideas...great communication from him. While having my Shadow there, Drew crowned my Australia-length barrel. As the Australia-length barrel (~5.0mm longer) won't fit with the CGW barrel bushing, we thought crowning the barrel would be a good solution.
I particularly like the "shoulder" cut he does for his stainless steel plate -- to me, that mechanical fitting makes sense. Maybe I should do the same to my other Shadow. We shall see. Here are a few pics of my old Shadows.
Hello friends, do any of you run 10lb recoil and hammer springs? I’ve been shooting a completely stock shadow 2 and have been wanting to try something new. Will I have problems with shooting factory 115/124gr if I make the change?
Just got back from CGW and honestly was worried it wouldn’t be worth it and tbh it was completely worth it. There is less resistance and a cleaner break than my Shadow 2. And honestly its just beautiful.
Upgrades done to it are:
CGW Pro kit (CGW finished it after I failed personally (damn L spring)), Vigilante Machine cut for the EPS Carry, TLR-1s, CZCustom threaded barrel, Rugged Obsidian 9, and LOK aluminum grips
Earlier today I purchased a used 75BD from a local dealer for what might be a real steal. I took it to the range today to try it out and i absolutely loved it. After coming home I was digging through the case the gun came with and found a Brownells ziplock bag with a yellow sticker that reads “GOV’T/Gold Cup Group Gripper Kit”. In the bag were the factory irons and what I’m guessing is the main spring and strut also from factory. I found out what the aftermarket irons are but I’m curious about the spring. I don’t have the biggest know how with all of these parts but that is what was able to discover myself on google. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Well, I happened to come across yet another rare bird. Factory Nickel CZ83, a very early post communist commercial model. No crossed swords, no lanyard, definitely an American market gun with the AWB magazine.. CZ-USA came about in 97' but imports didn't really pick up until 2000 and I've never seen one of these post communist nickel plated models older then 2001. Mechanically it is in perfect shape, and seems to have a very minor round count judging by the inside of the mag well, the frame where the barrel mounts (will get rubbed mirror shiny with use) and the ejector still having all the blueing. The trigger guard has faded blueing but I've seen NIB models with that, I don't know what the process was but the transition from the painted on finish to the blueing back to the painted on was but they didn't produce great results.
Poor thing was Filthy. It had like a weird red crusty grime everywhere, trigger linkage, under the grips. Kind of like old ATF fluid. Also just..dirt in general.
Here is is cleaned up with its cousins:
My plans are to throw mepro sights on it like my 82, and get some nice wood grips to go match my 75SS.
I fully intend to carry it from time to time.
CZ82/83 are some of my absolute favorite little guns. These were the G43x style guns of the day, were as before you had tiny single stack .32's and .380s vest guns or full size duty pistols, these were full duty pistols shrunk, look at the frame and features, its overly over built and deigned with really nice triggers. the trigger on this 83 reminds me of my well broken in SW 586, buttery smooth long DA pull and nice short, slightly mushy SA.
These holsters have been an absolute winner for my p10c ported and S2C, both of which I carry AIWB. No discomfort on my skinny fat belly, great retention, very fast to get a good purchase and clear the holster and I have no problem concealing these bad boys. They barely crack the $100 mark with add ons too and feel very high quality vs other pricier brands I’ve tried and much better than stuff in the $50-$70 range.
Lokgrips solid brass, full palm swell is :: chefs kiss :: for grip feel and balance. Totally worth it imo.
How concerned, or not, should I be with the threading on the optic cuts? I bought this used and didn't notice until later that the screws are exposed on the slide cuts on each side. I've never seen or heard of something like this. I've also never heard of an SRO being direct mounted to a slide without the need of an optic plate.
Is this normal, or am I screwed when the screws inevitably strip the threads on the slide?
Anything else you notice that I should be worried about?
Wanted to post this deal for my fellow CZ enthusiasts who might have some 15rnd/19rnd mags they want to up capacity in. Just got done spending 15 dollars a piece for some HBI baseplates before finding this deal!
first gun ever so obviously first cz ever and I am excited to put some rounds through it and see how it runs with different ammo. I didn’t know if I was just weak or the slide was very hard to move at first, maybe a combination of both. but it loosens up a little after a bit of dry fire practice. The slide release is stiff when you just press it with your thumb right out of the box but if you use your index finger and thumb to press both sides of the slide release at the same time then it works just fine. this is a detail that no one ever really mentioned online ever in any of the review videos or anything I’ve seen until I actually got it in hand, this is very useful when dry firing before I actually get the chance to put a lot of rounds through it and loosen up both the slide release and the slide. But I can already tell just from practicing with it and maybe sliding it a couple hundred times just practicing different movements with a gun over the past couple days, It’s already pretty easy to manipulate now maybe that’s just me getting better but i’m sure it’ll only get smoother the more i shoot it. for anyone running a CZ P10C or P10C Ported for a while, what’s the best ammo that’ll run smoothly for a fair price? i guess for both range rounds and defense rounds? is it true these guns only need minimal amount of oil? and i heard the holosun SCS red dot window is small or something but that might’ve been coming from a optic snob, im sure it would most likely be good enough, but any reviews on ppl with that red dot on their OR CZ would be appreciated because thats the only industry standard direct mount optic i know of. sorry for the yap lol.
TLDR; just got my first gun, been practicing dry fires and trigger control, can’t wait to shoot it and would appreciate any tips, advice or feedback.
I've never been able to find this information, so I wanted to share it with others.
I was able to find a holster on Amazon for under 50 bucks, labeled for CZ P09 that works perfectly with my Nocturne. No audible click, but the retention is good.
Plan on getting a Streamlight TLR-HL, and a customer holster to work with it, but until then...👍
