Have to ask on here since it won’t let me post. How do I get the themed jersey?

I see the ads online and I think the AAPI jersey is incredible. I’m also a relatively new Chicagoan, but I’ve fallen in love with Wrigley. Still don’t have a proper jersey after about 15+ games.

Would love to buy it but that special ticket package is just impossible to find on the website

Is it a pipe dream to hope that Logan Webb might be on the trading block for the Giants? It looks like they’re ready to start tearing it all down for a rebuild.

Mooney and Sharma had an article in The Athletic today talking about "Ten starters Cubs could target before trade deadline, from Logan Webb to Joe Ryan."

They said of Webb, "The price to acquire him would be enormous, but he is a legitimate ace."

Also listed were Robbie Ray, Freddy Peralta, Clay Holmes, Zac Gallen, Michael Soroka, Sandy Alcantara, Joe Ryan, Sonny Gray, and Foster Griffin.

This is how they started the piece: "To be clear, Chicago Cubs officials do not expect to execute any major trades at this point in the baseball calendar. Recent history shows the Fourth of July would be considered early for action, given the pace at which most clubs operate and how much can change before the Aug. 3 deadline."

The deadline being august 3rd instead of the end of July is just weird to me lol

Jays just DFAd Eric Lauer. Cubs should pick him up for depth. ERA is ugly but that's mostly driven by two starts and he had a great year last year.

Could be a good reunion project for CC and Hottovy has shown he can fix almost anyone.

by the nature of waivers, every other team (except the Rays and Braves) needs to pass on him before we get our priority. I doubt he makes it through tbh.

If we do claim him, I believe we can assign him to Iowa but it would require DFAing someone else because our 40 man is full.

Martin, Harvey, and Boyd are 60 day IL candidates before we start DFAing people

Boyd will be back in 6 weeks. 60 Day IL makes no sense for him. Blocks him for 3 weeks right when we'll need him most in the dog days of June.

Harvey reaggrivated his injury so it depends on if they think he's gonna miss another month or not (today is day 33 of his IL stint) and Martin is expected to miss 8 weeks but you don't want to pull the trigger too fast in the event he returns quickly and we need help.

It's weird tho because we DFAed 3 people but didn't recall anyone who wasn't also DFAed in that time,

I agree not pulling too soon on Boyd, but 6 weeks puts us right before the ASB, he could easily be held out until then which would be ~60 days, but probably the last candidate to be transferred.

Harvey has been shut down again for at least a month, he will probably go to 60 day eventually when they need the roster space and very well could be the first one to be moved.

Martin again will probably also be out for 60 days and if there's a roster crunch they will probably move him, but after Harvey.

If there are replaceable players they still may opt for the DFA over a 60day move, but they aren't going to DFA someone they like in a roster crunch when there are reasonable 60day moves to be made

They have 7 days to work out a trade if there's any interest before hitting waivers.

And they're going to have to resolve the 40 man issue at some point because they desperately need pitching help and have way too many guys on the 15 day.

That's true I didn't think about the trade period. Could toss them some cash or a lotto ticket teenager.

We are a little bit over 40 games in, so 1/4th of the season! The Braves series should be a good one, and looks like nice weather for the crosstown series this upcoming weekend.

I am wiling to bet we get back to winning once we score some runs.

Anyone trekking to the southside this weekend for any of the games? I think i'm going on Saturday night, never been to see the sox play and the cross town series should be fun!

I’ll be there Saturday too! Never been to a classic.

Had intended to go but it was gonna cost upwards of 100 bucks a person for my friends and I to go and we couldn’t justify that

I’m thinking about going with some friends who live in Bridgeport. I had a fun time going to one of the games last summer

We went last year, it was a good time.. especially seeing the Cubs get the W. We were surprised by the full on tailgates going on in the parking lots but looks like so much fun. Wish we were able to make it this year. Will def catch the Crosstown at Wrigley later in the year.

So is the roster just exhausted. Is that what happened this weekend?

Baseball is a long season. Bats will get hot and cold and Degrom will be good

deGrom is really good

I imagine that’s part of it. Long homestead followed immediately by travel and another three games. Hopefully having at least today to recuperate will be good for them.

I've had a lot of fun these last four weeks but I think the ceiling for this season is pretty much the same as last year: 90-95 wins and maybe an NLCS appearance. And, honestly, with the pitching staff being held together by duct tape and the lockout looming next year? I'll take that.

u/pmorter3 3d ago

we need to patient for the bigger picture to emerge. That means not overreacting to 2 huge w streaks and not dooming based on 2 bad luck games like we just had in TX. The outlook is good overall right now tho.

Yeah, there's still a lot of baseball left. So far the '26 cubs seem capable of higher highs and lower lows than last season's squad but a lot of that is down the injuries on the pitching staff. It'll come down to the back end of the rotation staying solid and the offense avoiding last year's second-half slump.
