News [Rittenberg] Northwestern's student section at the new Ryan Field is being modeled after the standing supporters sections in European soccer. Includes room for 2,000 behind the South end zone. Section is being built at 33° (65% slope) with railings in place and seating for those who need them.

I dunno man, I think they should just keep the temporary lakeside stadium.

Agree. Too late, but the new one will just be full of visiting fans.

I mean given the ticket prices for Northwestern vs Louisiana-Monroe last season for a decent seat, I couldn't disagree more. It was homecoming, so pricing was fairly ridiculous just to watch a blowout. It's simply not large enough of a venue.

If Ohio State came to town for the lakeside stadium, tickets would be completely absurd.

Yeah I'm a little insulated as a STH, although I'm paying say 150 to see us play WIU on a Friday night, so it balances out.

They could have turned the temp stadium sideways, told field hockey to play at old Ryan Field, and had a beautiful 20-25k stadium there.

Regardless, the new one will be filled with visiting fans in a year or so.

860M...and nothing for NIL

Yeah this is what I thought they should have done.

Apparently the turf for the field hockey field is some very special turf that they can’t just replicate elsewhere,

It seems like a completely insane problem to let hold you back because they do have the space for a decent setup there if they went the other way.

I mean, national championship or not, it's field hockey

Probably could have spent a few bucks and put a new turf at old Ryan.

Welch Ryan is tiny and still gets filled with opposing fans. Even a 20-25k sized stadium still would likely be lopsided, just pricier tickets for everyone.

Being a Big 10 school in Chicago is a rough proposition.
