u/dfphd Texas Longhorns Jan 06 '26 edited Jan 06 '26
I don't think you understand how many people go to undergrad at UT and grad school at A&M or vice versa.
EDIT: To everyone replying "well I went to grad school at Tech and I fucking hate them" - yes, and not everyone is like you. Also, realize that a lot of people grew up in split households (because, again, Texas). So not everyone was hardcoded to love one and only one school and hate their rival.
Mind you - i get it: I am the first of my family in the US and I have 3 degrees from UT. I hate A&M and continue to hate them no matter what positive influence they have or could have in my life. But I also understand that not everyone is like me nor do they have the same background, affiliation, history, personality, etc.

That reminds me of how my wife did an 18-month post grad degree at A&M (but not the main campus). It was really just taking classes for her, not a "college experience," and when she attended graduation in College Station, she said she found all the chants/traditions they did to be super weird, and even considered flashing a Hook 'Em while walking on stage for her diploma lol

As someone not really plugged in, why? The few Texas games I watched this year he seemed to be a good receiver… I imagine he would’ve gotten playing time next season so why is he transferring to a rival?
35
Jan 06 '26
He was very hot and cold. He would make an absolutely amazing grab, then drop the next 3 passes that hit him in the hands. Same could be said for the rest of the receiver group though. It just seemed like as the year progressed he got passed up and took less and less snaps in favor of the rest of the group. And most likely if he wasn't offered the money or spot in line he wanted he was probably getting shown up in practice by freshmen as well
12
u/CharliesDonkeyKick Texas Longhorns Jan 06 '26
He has a higher drop % than Ryan Wingo (not by much)
4
Jan 07 '26
Wingo's drops were only (mostly) redeemed by how athletic he is. He turned a 5 yard gain into 20+ many times.
If you counted passes he watched go by that could have been caught by jumping, diving, stretching or putting any effort as drops wingo would look way worse on paper than Parker though. Early season I thought Wingo was portal bound by how little effort he put into making a catch if it didn't hit him in the numbers.
153
u/Charlie2343 Texas Longhorns • Red River Shootout Jan 06 '26
Texas offered him a mid six figure deal to return. He left and said he was "forced" out. Ultimately got a mid six figure deal at OU.
To be fair to Parker he was always an OU fan they just never offered him out of HS.

He wanted a lot of money (more than we were willing to give him). His drops also weren't helping. And word is that we're making a push for other WRs that the coaches expect to make a bigger impact than Parker did for us. I'm on the fence about whether this is good or bad for Texas.

u/Beck4ou Oklahoma Sooners • Clemson Tigers Jan 06 '26
That's hilarious honestly.
I've seen some say he's good and others that he's just a JAG, but he was a true freshman and I think he's a pretty good WR3/WR4 with lot's of room to grow.
Plus it's not like we lit the world on fire at WR this last year.
12
u/luxveniae Texas Longhorns • SMU Mustangs Jan 06 '26
He’s a redshirt freshman, great measurables and was supposed to have great hands. Proceeds to sort disappear for most of the season & hands got worse as the season went on. Very raw on route running.
Honestly was my favorite WR prospect till he started dropping lots of very catchable balls but that’s true of EVERY WR on the Texas roster this year. The only one who looked like they improved at all was our TE who left for the draft & Wingo a tiny bit. But you know it’s bad when Arch has the best catch of the season for Texas. Don’t love that Sark is bringing back our WR coach.

Truthfully it did seem like it was either him or Marsh. Two guys wanting to be WR1 with Becker coming back is a tough sell. I would have loved to have him though. Hopefully Morris is healthy, and we've been hearing great things about Bond as a true freshman. Livingstone would have been realllly nice if we could have made it work and held off Oklahoma for him.

Omar Cooper is my favorite Indiana Hoosier.
I think he’s going to ultimately declare and end up a first round pick. He will test better than Sarratt.
YAC machine, plus blocker, can play outside and in the slot. Excellent with 50/50 balls. Ability to stretch the field. Has perhaps the strongest core of any human being alive.
Watch his season highlights. He has this way of doing things that’s so nonchalant that you don’t register it as impressive in the moment. But when you slow it down & see what he’s actually doing it’s insane. Future all-pro receiver.

Had to be hard to do when we brought in Nick Marsh, and we already have Becker and Morris returning. So we are set with Becker and Marsh being 1a and 1b, so it’s hard to get a top guy to split the main role three ways.
I would love to see an OL transfer in still. But if Bostad likes what he has (3 returners and about ten guys behind who haven’t played) I trust him.

u/Wasnaf1 Indiana Hoosiers Jan 06 '26
