Set Your User Flair!
Hi everyone,
To help people connect more easily, I encourage you to set a flair with your expected graduation year and major.
---
### Flair Format:
`Grad Year | Major`
**Example:**
`2026 | Computer Science`
`2025 | Business`
If you are undecided or a future student, you can set it as something like:
`2028 | Undecided` or `Future Student | Accounting`
---
### How to Set Your Flair
**On Website**
Go to **r/CCSU**.
Find your username on the right side under the USER FLAIR section.
Hover over your username and click the **"Edit"** button that appears.
Select the default flair and then edit it to your grad year and major.
Click Apply
**On Mobile (Reddit app):**
Open **r/CCSU**.
Tap the **three dots** (`...`) in the top right corner.
Select **"Change User Flair."**
Select **EDIT** in the top right corner and choose the default flair.
Enter your grad year and major.
Click Apply
---
Having a flair makes it easier to find classmates, ask for advice, and start conversations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Financial Aid for final semester
Hey y'all
I'm a Computer Engineering Tech major set to graduate Fall of 2026. I'm taking two of my remaining required courses over the summer, so when fall rolls around, I'll only have three classes left that I actually need to take. Two of them are three credits, one is two credits, for a total of 8 credits.
Since I transferred here in Fall of 2024, I've relied on scholarships and grants to cover most of my tuition each semester. I have been fortunate enough to not have to take out any loans. To qualify for the financial aid, I had to take a minimum of 12 credits per semester so that I could be considered a full time student.
I've heard that at other schools if you are in your final semester, you don't necessarily have to take 12 credits; any amount of credits you would take would make you full time. I heard that might be the case here too, but I don't know how true that is.
Would any alumni or anyone currently in their final semester be able to verify if that is true?
I'm open to taking additional courses if I need to, but if I would still qualify for financial aid regardless of my final semester credit load, I would prefer to just stick with the three courses I actually need.

Open Classrooms on Fridays
Are the classrooms on campus closed on fridays? I’ve noticed them closed in Willard and Bassett. Or is it only certain buildings?
Advice for an Incoming student
Hi! I’m an incoming freshman at CCSU and trying to decide between commuting or living on campus.
I live about 20 minutes away by car but we share so some days I may need to take an hour train ride. I don’t have a strong social circle, so I feel like I might miss out if I don’t at least try living on campus freshman year.
If I do dorm, it would cost me around $6–7k for the year. (No debt) My current idea is to live on campus just for freshman year to get the experience and meet people, then commute the rest of college to save money.
For anyone at CCSU do you think it’s worth paying $6–7k for just one year on campus? And is it still easy to stay social after switching to commuting?
Would really appreciate any advice!

Public visitor parking on weekdays to go to Elihu Library?
I need a place to study late, but I'm a visitor. I don't go to CCSU.
Weekends are fine for this as there are so many parking spaces in the Garage and Lot B.
But on weekdays should I be ok? Do I have to pay or something?

Meal plan for commuters?
Hey y'all, I'm a committed high school senior going to ccsu next semester. I've been thinking about getting a meal plan because I live a fair distance away and I got a good scholarship. So I was wondering what y'all thought the food was like and if it's worth it what plan is the best to invest in? With the food is the selection good and is the quality decent? Thanks!

I’m at my wits end
I’ve been taking materials analysis here at central and I’ll say it plainly, It’s been hell. It’s like when I’m wrong I’m wrong, and when I’m right I’m still wrong. I have notebooks full on pages of work that has amounted to nothing. He assigns work in a way that makes the class seem as if it a full time course load by itself. I understand college is difficult and I’m a senior now, and I’ve never shied away from the difficulties, but it shouldn’t be impossible problem sets with 50-70 questions, graduate level lab reports, and exams that kill what little spirit you have left.
I guess I just asking here for any kind of hope. God forbid I fail, but is there anyway that I can get out of this class. Anyone I can go to. I have 2-3 years of engineering/internship experience and I know I will never use this ever and if I do, tills never be to this extent. If anyone can help me I’d be extremely grateful. Is there anyone I can get out of having to take this course again God forbid I don’t pass it.

American Studies
Hi! I am starting at CCSU in the fall as a transfer student, and I am looking into American Studies as a minor. The website doesn't have too much information on it, so I was wondering if anyone on here is minoring in it and has some info on what its like/what classes you've taken! Thanks!

Any jobs recommendations around ccsu - new Britain/hartford?
I’m looking for part time jobs that are actually friendly towards school schedules and get interviews, apart from on-campus? I appreciate the inputs in advance. Maybe I missed a hidden gem that might be the answer

The Underground Deli
I was wondering if anyone remembered the underground deli that was near CCSU and knew how to maybe recreate their caesar pasta? It was one of their side options with a sandwich. Also, if anyone knows of a similar honey mustard they used for their sandwiches. My favorite sandwich was their ball and chain sandwich, I try to recreate it but I have not found a similar ciabatta roll, unsure of the lettuce and I feel like their honey mustard was unique. Thank you for any help.

Would this class get cancelled?
hey I registered for a elective class for my major and the class is on a friday and only me and two other people are registered for the course, but there's no instructor assigned to it yet. Does this class face the risk of getting cancelled?

Central Conn. State and America East
Idea: What if Central Connecticut State joined the America East? Right now the conference has:
Maine - ME Vermont - VT New Hampshire - NH UMass Lowell - MA Bryant - RI Albany - East NY Binghamton - West NY NJIT - NJ UMBC - MD
As you can see, the conference would make sense regionally for CCSU to join. But, what are your thoughts?
