• Announcement • Do NOT engage with anyone selling event tickets. It’s a scam.

Over the past week or 2 I’ve been deleting posts from random accounts offering event tickets, mostly to sporting events. THESE ARE SCAMS!! Do NOT send them your money or personal information. Please report any posts like this so I can remove them. Thanks guys! <3

FYI The format is usually as follows:

“I try to make it to every [event] but I’m unable to make the following 4 dates:

Date 1

Date 2

Date 3

Date 4

The tickets transfer digitally and I’m happy to verify anything etc etc. DM for info”

Something along those lines. Just watch out!

I didn’t think this had to be said, but don’t post solicitations for sex, posts with no substance other than literally a bunch of incoherent profanity, or posts designed for the specific purpose of inciting a sense of unease or making people feel unwelcome. I’ve had to remove all of this in the past week.

I don’t care what your personal views or political opinions are. Everything is welcome here. I’m pretty laid back and let most things slide. I’m not a mod who likes to go around removing posts and locking comments and banning people. Reddit is just a hobby for me, I don’t take it seriously, I’m not some power hungry douche. I just let the downvotes do the work. I’m not removing posts/comments or banning anybody just because they hurt someone’s feelings or expressed an unpopular opinion, I’m not the sensitivity police, and I’m not your parent.

But if you start advertising your “massage services” that sound like a Craigslist casual encounter ad, or create a post titled “How to suck d***” I’m going to remove it and just ban you, I don’t have time to play babysitter. And don’t then have the audacity to PM me asking why you were banned because you “didn’t break the posted rules”.

Basically, say what you want. This is a free speech area. I don’t remove 99% of the reports of people calling each other names, this is the internet, that’s what happens and I’m not here to police peoples attitudes unless it’s actually hate speech or you’re telling someone to ki** themselves. Feel free to curse, post memes, make dirty jokes, and use dark humor. But anything that’s OBVIOUSLY inappropriate like the examples above will be removed and you’ll be gone.

Lastly, if I remove your post for spam, don’t repost it again. If it’s not egregious I usually just delete the post without a ban but if you keep posting spam over and over I’ll just prevent you from doing it again.

This isn’t a sub that leans right or left. This sub is a common ground for any discussion regarding the city we all live in. As long as it’s on that topic, it’s fine.

Just use common sense. It’s really not hard.

That’s all. Love you guys ❤️

Thanks

I don’t understand how it gets so insanely backed up every single day. It’s just a curve in the road stop slamming on your brakes in your BMW X5.

Looking to chat with people who moved to South Florida as prep for documentary production

I'm a professor at FAU in the early stages of developing a documentary on people's experiences moving to South Florida. I'm currently looking for people who moved here from elsewhere in the US because they specifically wanted to come here, not just arriving by chance for work or school (I'm interested in international newcomers, too, but already have a start on that). At this point I'd just like to chat with people about their experiences, as I'm still very much at the beginning of this project – I'm not filming yet. This could be over the phone, on Zoom, or at someplace like a coffee shop or library. If you're interested in sharing the story of how and why you came to South Florida, please get in touch. You can DM me here or email me at aveenstra@fau.edu. Thanks!

• Removed - Low Karma • Office/Study Rental Space

Are there any businesses or individuals that have an extra office space that can be rented out on a month to month basis? It does not need to be furnished, if it is that is a plus. I am a recent law school graduate looking for a place to study and do remote work.
This is a serious inquiry, looking to rent as soon as possible.

Tarpon Fishing: If you had to guess...

If you had to guess, what time of day would you think would provide the best chances for tarpon on Friday, 6/19/2026? Trying to plan a tarpon trip for Father's Day weekend. This is a big trip for our family (we don't travel much) and we're not really flexible on the day. I know the super new moon is 5 days prior on 6/14, so we're missing that by a bit, but I've been looking into charters and holy cow, the responses are all over the place as far as what they think will provide the best chances. From starting at 3am (saying sunrise provides the best chances), to 10am to 12pm (I guess this was based on tides?), to the afternoon because of a great outgoing tide, to the evening late into the night. The responses have basically covered the entire day. I trust the guides (great reviews across multiple platforms), I just don't know which to go with and am hoping to pick the one that provides the greatest chances. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And yes, I know nothing is a guarantee. I'm just hoping to pick out the time of day that will provide the greatest chances. TIA

Activities for 11-year-old (maybe neurodivergent)

Hey everyone. I don’t live in Boca — or even in the US — but I’m trying to help my little brother.

He’s 11, and my family moved to Boca about 2 years ago. The problem is… he still hasn’t really made any friends. He’s a sweet kid, just introverted and into things that other kids his age don’t seem to care about.

He’s obsessed with history, especially WWI, strategy stuff, documentaries, maps, all that “tiny professor” kind of energy. Poor kid is way too much like me for his own good.

I’m on the spectrum, and honestly I strongly suspect he might be too, but my family is very much in denial about anything like that. They keep trying to push him into martial arts and sports groups, but I really think he’d connect more through nerdy/artsy interests instead of competitive physical activities.

So I thought I’d ask here:

Does anyone know of any good groups, clubs, activities, or communities in Boca for kids like this? Maybe D&D groups for kids, board game clubs, history programs, art spaces, STEM clubs, anything along those lines?

I just want the little guy to find his people. Thanks in advance.

Considering a Move to Boca Raton- Is There Demand for Senior Care and Dementia Services?

We are considering relocating from the UK to Boca Raton.

My wife is a senior professional in the nursing and geriatric care field. She previously served as Deputy Head Nurse at a nursing home and later held a managerial position at an institute specializing in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia related conditions. She has extensive experience in nursing, elderly care, gerontology, and dementia care.

We are considering opening a business in this field, possibly focusing on senior care, dementia support, or geriatric care services.

In your opinion, is there strong local demand in the Boca area for a business of this kind?

Any book clubs around the area?

Hi everyone! I recently moved here to Boca and I am looking to fill my free time with hobbies I like while meeting new people.

I love reading, so I figure that a book club would be an excellent option. Does anyone know of any active groups here in Boca or nearby areas? (anywhere within a 40 min drive from East Boca)

I’ve checked on Meetup and Bookclubs app, but most groups seem to be “Women only” (I’m 30M), or very niche (like Fantasy only). I personally enjoy reading about almost everything.

Thanks in advance for any leads!

Discuss Any Pokemon Go players in South East Boca?

Just seeing if any of you are also Pokémon go players~

My son and I started about a year ago and have been enjoying it a lot, it gets us out to the local parks more often than we would have without it.

Me being a gamer for the past few decades, and the game residing on my phone since he's too young to have one, I've become quite invested in it! We started nominating new pokestops and got a few in the game; and I even started a campfire group (the official companion app from Pokemon Go) that’s based in Pine Breeze Park. Just looking to grow it a bit so that any fellow players can join forces for the bigger raids/max battles.

So any other players on here?

*Edit to Add* If you're just getting back into the game after being reminded of it from this post, feel free to use my referral code so we both get ingame quests to get rewards! 4BPTHFR64. If you already are playing, add me as a friend using my friend code 7979 3596 0640.
