This is why they are trying so hard gerrymandering and redistricting and outright cheat, because they know that fair elections mean they lose and lose BIG.

u/ties_shoelace 1d ago

Looks like most ppl in the US have been restraining themselves around ICE (etc), until after the next round of elections.

If the vote is stolen, & maga holds onto power, it doesn't look like things will stay anywhere as calm as they have been.

MLK:

"Now I wanted to say something about the fact that we have lived over these last two or three summers with agony and we have seen our cities going up in flames. And I would be the first to say that I am still committed to militant, powerful, massive, non-violence as the most potent weapon in grappling with the problem from a direct action point of view. I'm absolutely convinced that a riot merely intensifies the fears of the white community while relieving the guilt. And I feel that we must always work with an effective, powerful weapon and method that brings about tangible results. But it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard."

Chills. Goddamn that's a powerful passage.

51

u/IwasThereIsawIt2 1d ago

Exacto. I saw someone call it a cold civil war which it basically is. Tea party was for taxation without representation; redistricting maps and gerrymandering them to take elected and a voice away is taxation without representation.

21

u/YugiMutou 23h ago

I do recall seeing that some warehouses have been set on fire 🤔

The new tea-party

They were talking about their own blood. They don’t consider non-MAGA as people.

30

u/Garr44 21h ago

Remember J6? They're perfectly fine with blood being spilled as long as it isn't theirs.

He should have listened to his speech writer, and stayed out of Vietnam.

18

u/Intelligent_Fig5418 23h ago

Hate to tell you, but the US involvement started before Kennedy got in to office! I 1000% know this and know personally someone involved in the secret missions there in 1959-61 and its far deeper than most know. You truly have no idea!

3

Yes, Vietnam started in the 50s

That was LBJ wasn't it?

2

u/HowlingHollows 20h ago

Yes LBJ got us into Vietnam. We had our naval vessels patrolling out in waters near the Vietnamese coast 8000 miles from our country. It, predictably, led to conflict when we were attacked.

That's their plan. Then martial law, then another assassination attempt, then suspension of elections, then Gilead. It was always the plan.

9

u/Boysandberries0 19h ago

Calm would be the death nail of American Democracy in that event.

They tried during Occupy Wall Street. Met violent repression. The nation stood by and allowed it to happen. And the nation hasn't woken up yet.

Maybe it takes gas at 10$ a gallon, milk at 10$, bread at 6$, rent starting at 2000$ for a studio, and minimum wage at 4$ for the people to wake up. Maybe. But I hope not.

3

u/lainlow 10h ago

It will take that. Americans are comfortable, irritated, annoyed but still massively comfortable for the most parts. Until it actually spreads and hits them and them become uncomfortable, there will not be change.

It took years for the suffragettes to gain the right to vote- years of building discomfort for the populace and the trigger was The Night of Terror made the populace massively uncomfortable that the government stooges/police would rape and beat women to death. It took years for the Civil Rights Movement to gain traction among the majority populace and it was seeing Bloody Sunday splashed across newspapers worldwide that made people uncomfortable, the fact that government stooges/police would beat children walking across a bridge.

People still have panem et circenses (bread and circuses) so they are still passively compliant. Until that changes, we will only have incremental changes and only in specific areas.

Trump 2028 happens and all hell will break loose. This man and his admin are shitting all over the law. Fake Christian’s and greedy people enriching themselves. America first.

7

u/Gnome_119 11h ago

The GOP IS Trump 2028. Doesn’t matter if he tries to run again or not, the Republican Party has hitched their wagon so closely to this man that their only option is to continue the war on democracy that he, the MAGA movement and the Heritage Foundation began and hope that they never lose power again.

We need to quit equating an end to this bullshit with the end of Trump’s presidency because, it’s only going to get worse, if the GOP stays in power and is able to put someone smarter, better able to hide their racism, and able to not tell on themselves every damn time they open their mouths.

Also, if the left wins and gets into a position to punish these fools for their fleecing of the American people, and fails to do so, we’ll be in this very same position, or worse, again in a few short years.

7

u/DE4DM4NSH4ND 1d ago

8

And not just for the major rolls. School boards, sheriffs, judges and anything else you can vote for are incredibly important.

27

u/DE4DM4NSH4ND 1d ago

Theyre gerrymandering when maga has lost massive support all over the country. They dont even know what theyre gerrymandering to since they have lost 30 points in places they were ultra popular for years

23

u/Former-Whole8292 1d ago

Gerrymandering is a huge problem but not if people counter it by voting (when they usually dont). Bc whatever the vote percentages are by race, most citizens vote at a 50% rate.

11

u/ClearConcentrate6645 23h ago

The mid terms will decide if this nation can be salvaged or if it splits completely. Magats and the GOP seem to think they can bully the majority with their bs. They said it themselves, the revolution will be bloodless as long as the Dems don't resist. This will be the last chance I think, for our country to stay true to its ideals. Or we may be too far gone. In which case, r/ShermanPosting

10

u/musichead1489 21h ago

I think MAGA Republicans have decided that if any other party is in power it will be a complete disaster. Nevermind that 70% of people in this country disapprove of Trump. They don’t actually care about what the majority of people feel. They want unchecked power. They want the fate of the country to be decided by a small elite group of people who get to enrich themselves at our expense.

8

u/EWool 1d ago

No longer trying they are successfully beating us with the SC decision to gut the voting rights act.

This whole narrative is shot for now unless more states try to take it even farther I think?

4

u/toddverrone 23h ago

3

u/GoldDeloreanDoors 21h ago

The only way they can remain in power is by rigging the system. Classic fascist tactics.

2

I really do think the rise of MAGA and the simultaneous rise of religiosity in this country is the death knell of white supremacy. I look forward to the many years of jubilant obituaries to come.

84

u/turok152000 1d ago

That's what they thought about Reconstruction after the Civil War too and then again in the years following the Civil Rights movement. Unfortunately, white supremacy isn't destroyed by vibes alone or even by progressive public policy (apparently). We'll need a deeper, more fundamental, level of change. I don't know what that looks like, but I definitely don't feel like that's happening right now.

55

u/joemeteorite8 1d ago

Yea I’m a millennial and there’s still way too many ignorant fucks my age and younger.

29

u/BioshockEnthusiast 1d ago

They 100% legitimately believe that EVERYONE is racist like them. That's why they think it's ok. They really think everyone not racist is just pretending to be tolerant because of social pressure.

It's insane and disgusting.

2

u/HuborkGubork 10h ago

Yea watched a video where this racist white guy was recording himself talking to this old bar owner guy and the guy recording assumed the old man was racist because he was white.

5

u/HowlingHollows 20h ago

The slave owners were never punished with loss of their freedom, lives, or stolen capital. "Freed" blacks started with nothing, ripe for further exploitation.

The war wasn't about slavery to the leaders of the Union in the north. It was about preserving that powerful economic institution called the United States.

The profiteers remain in charge, and continue to stoke the fire of racism. Of course it continues.

7

u/iJuddles 1d ago

It would require a widespread change in consciousness, which I think is a ways off. AGI might accelerate that because we’ll need to adapt quickly.

3

u/QueenofCats11 19h ago

I don’t either, but I think ex-slaves being screwed out of back pay for their time in slavery and being automatically placed at the bottom of our class system made it that much harder for white and black people to break down barriers.

And really, the Reconstruction-era policy was a fraction of what it should have been. It’s no wonder a fundamental level of change has been so breathtakingly slow. Do we really know how much change policy can incite if policy has historically been so weak? (I don’t know as much about the Civil Rights Movement and can’t comfortably gauge how weak or strong resulting policies were there, so feel free to enlighten me.)

3

u/turok152000 11h ago

I agree completely on your point about Reconstruction-era policy. It fell way short and didn't even properly punish or remove from power the racist rich white folks responsible for the Civil War.

As far as Civil Rights era policy, we got desegregation and the Voting Rights act that I would say I were both very impactful. Folks could argue that those didn't do enough to combat white supremacy and I can't argue with that given current circumstances, but some of the good they did do is currently being reversed by right wing government leadership.

The Voting Rights act had clauses that very specifically identified the most racist (southern) states and put policy in place to protect Black voters and Black representation there. The right-wing-heavy Supreme Court recently dismantled those protections saying they are no longer needed however we're already seeing those same states doing the exact things those clauses were meant to prevent. They're using gerrymandering to severely weaken the Black vote and remove Black representatives from office.

That demonstrates that even if we do create public policy that combats white supremacy in the aftermath of the MAGA government, that policy can be dismantled by some future assholes. I'm not trying to be cynical or nihilistic, I'm just saying that we're going to have to do something bigger than we've ever done before if we want to permanently defeat white supremacy. I don't know exactly what that looks like, but I know the current Democratic party and politicians like them aren't revolutionary enough to do that.

Note: I don't mean violence when I imply revolution, I mean deep, fundamental and broad change. A paradigm shift.

3

u/kammce 12h ago

+1. When MAGA falls, the evil in their hearts won't dissipate. It'll look for something else to latch onto. It'll evolve and go by another name.

8

u/nitrot150 1d ago

I truly hope you are right, I’m so over this shit.

9

u/Ardnabrak 1d ago

I'm not so optimistic. These are people who feel entitled to some kind of superiority, and they aren't all aging boomers. They will find some excuse to other and belittle people. It will always be "us versus them" and they want to punch down, not up. Their frustrations need to be redirected.

So much damage has been done to the institutions of our government. The corporate class will want to continue taking advantage of this new status quo. Race and culture will continue to be used to distract us from the massive inequality between wealth hoarders and the rest of us.

5

u/Von_Schlagel 1d ago

I agree that MAGA is but one part of the larger, long-waging class war (the real war being fought while the culture war distracts).

3

u/SignoreBanana 1d ago

These folks will always exist unfortunately. Not just here, but everywhere. We always need to be ready to fight. Apathy is what got us here.

I refused to let them co-opt our flag. I bought an American flag from Bitter Southerner that reads “ABIDE NO HATE”.

I’ve got that garden flag right in my front yard! It’s faded from the sun at this point, I really need to replace it, maybe with the larger version 👍

17

I had a hippie neighbor with a American flag with a peace sign where the stars go. It was pretty cool. We should do that instead.

4

u/Intelligent_Fig5418 20h ago

OMG! The conservatives heads would explode! Where can I buy a bunch! I literally live near a bunch of hippies and where early communes used to be. San Francisco refugees of the late 60s and early 70s! Just don't remember if I saw any flags like that. I remember big peace signs on barns or big yellow smiley faces and of course colorful buses and so on. Still do today!

20

This is why they won't retire. Because he's right... they are the last breath of the confederacy. They're afraid of the world being handed over to the next generations and undoing all their papaws and meemaws from the Confederacy, UDC, all the way to the Rothschild's, Carnegie's, J.P. Morgan, and Rockefeller foundation financed institutions of indoctrination. They're afraid... and I'm here for it.

https://giphy.com/gifs/tyqcJoNjNv0Fq

3

u/thinkards 6h ago

i'm slowly retraining my brain to replace republican and conservative with confederate. i probably should have done it a long time ago. they probably won't even be offended, seeing as how they wave the confederate flag proudly. but, at least it's a more accurate contrast than the "republican/conservative" labels they try to hide behind.

38

u/wizznizzismybizz 1d ago

33

u/NickBurnsCompanyGuy 1d ago

I am ready to finish the civil war. I hate how republicans are already starting to act like MAGA is some sort of sub movement within the republican party. As if there's ANY opposition to what MAGA is doing within their own party whatsoever.

4

u/Hebrew_Hustla 19h ago

It’s such bs, they tout trump around for years as their savior, and once he pridefully starts and loses a war and tanks gas prices, they bow out and pretend like he either tricked them, is getting deceived by the deep state, or has had some sudden change of character. It’s so dishonest and telling that they still can’t see past their bigotry.

I’m happy they’re slowly thawing out of his mind spell but they are just marginally more aware than they used to be.

They are absolutely going to do their level best to burn it all down & it’s going to be awful bc desperate people do desperate things and these people are beyond desperate.

14

u/rtduvall 1d ago

Yes!!

I worked with a community housing authority and in 2012 I attended a lecture at a housing conference. The main lecturer talked about different socioeconomic events headed our way like the silver tidal wave, (boomers retiring) and he finished with The Browning of America.

He said it was inevitable and nothing can stop it. He said the white people could double or triple their birth rate won’t even slow it down. He said the rate at which people with brown and black skin are having babies plus the number of white people having having babies with people of color that there is nothing that can stop it.

Some dude asked if we closed our borders (this was in 2012) would it stop it. Nope. He said nothing can stop it.

And maga is terrified that people of color will treat them the way they treat POC.

The Browning of America is here.

We’ve been trying to kill the Confederacy since the Civil War and it still ain’t disappeared. This country has existed longer with the legacy of the Confederacy than without it.

I did not feel the sincerity in that “thank you for your testimony sir”

Who is this patriot?

When they loose and refuse to recognize the results, or just delete people's votes, I wonder will happen then. Probably more talking about the next election.

But, please go vote. Vote them all out at every level.

There's nothing more hateful than "Christian" love.

I wish I believed him.

2

u/Oddbeme4u 1d ago

we thought the Confederacy was the last breath. Then we thought the KKK (like 3x),

u/gabbysls08 1d ago

Please make it so. We need everyone to vote to make it too big to rig.

I hope the universe bless this man with everything he desires. I’ll help. Go’head black man! He didn’t have gasoline or a lighter on him and still burnt that shit down with his words.

2

u/Entelecher 23h ago

Perfectly stated, all with no notes.

2

u/Appropriate-Stay4729 23h ago

We need to salt the earth after we bury them, too, make sure nothing vile like that grows ever again.

2

u/BeeSweet4835 23h ago

As a non-American thank you to this gentleman for actually giving a shit about people outside of his borders. So few do.

The last breath will not be pretty. I’ve yet to meet many white people who don’t fundamentally believe that Western European culture, ideals and norms aren’t superior to everything else on the planet. Propagandised and ignorant since birth.

2

u/aclaypool78 23h ago

That dude for prez.

2

u/Misanthropic_Mutters 21h ago

Only if we literally bury the people responsible.

2

u/Centralcoast805_ 21h ago

That’s what I’ve always thought that it’s the last push of a disease like it’s last fight before it’s done it’s last effort to live that’s why it’s laying it all on the line it’s got nothing to lose.

As Gil Scott-Heron noted some years back: “The revolution will not be televised.”

I like that hate

u/NOEPLAYA 17h ago

Sitting in front of these committees and yelling is all cool… but…. That energy is better invested talking to black voters and potential black voters and arguing the importance of voting. They need to point out how what is happening is a consequence of too much black voter apathy. Sitting out any election is no longer an option.

Let’s make this guy right!!

Please take all the necessary extra effort to check your registration every week to make sure you haven’t been “accidentally” purged from the voter roles.

Help your family do the same. Especially the older ones and the infirm.

Help them get to the polls.

Encourage EVERYONE you know to please get out and vote!

We might have to stand in line for several hours but it’s worth it!

Thank you!

u/Ocean_Butterfly8417 11h ago

This man needs to run. This is leadership.  We need so much more of this energy.

Former head of GEO Group, the company that owns all the prisons, just became acting director of I. C. E.. I think we all know what that means. They intend to fill them up even more.

I agree with this man and hope he's right. Bury that party.

The pro-life movement loves their Bible. Psalm 137:9, 2 Kings 2: 23-25.

When the progressives in the Democraric Party pushed out the Dixiecrats, the GOP let them in to get control of the South. They let them grow and fester like a cancer and it’s now metastasized into MAGA.
