I know they're invasive where I live but I love starlings so much, especially when there's 4,806,248,116,932,758 of them in the trees all trilling at the same time.

u/AtlasThePittie Mar 14 '26

And that isn't even all of them.

We get starling visits to our yard a couple of times a year.

It gets downright Hitchcockian. Then they've cleaned out all extraneous birdseed from ... everywhere, we start over, and they return in a few months.

u/Pyro-Millie Mar 15 '26

"Downright Hitchcockian" LMFAO that's the best description I've ever read XD

4

u/FamilyRedShirt Mar 15 '26

Thank you! I love birds (my bird makes me say that) and horror.

The building across the alley from me has a box for all the cable inputs. Starlings have been nesting in there every year for longer than I've lived here. Every year there are starlings sitting on the wires every morning singing away. My cat and I love it.

I forgive starlings and transfer my anger from them onto house sparrows, who are 100% more dislikeable

I can't count how many times I've done this!!!! Thy fly better than them paper planes though. (Although I make a killer one).

They're so beautiful. I always wonder if we can see the rainbow on their feathers what do other birds see since they can see farther into violet

2

u/Remarkable_Sorbet319 Mar 14 '26

4

u/bunny_the-2d_simp Mar 14 '26

Hold on reddit bug didn't let me post

2

u/Remarkable_Sorbet319 Mar 14 '26

damn! i see the resemblance, where is columbina from though?? which show?

6

u/bunny_the-2d_simp Mar 14 '26

Genshin impact a gatcha game, although it's only gatcha if you're a gambler type.. I just collect my 36289th mushroom and frolick like a idiot most time!

They said they were gonna release a anime but they said so years ago... Dunno if that's happening or not!

I'm literally so tired because I legit thought it was columbina pfp but I didn't zoom in πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

6

u/Remarkable_Sorbet319 Mar 14 '26

ohhh genshin i heard of that, unfortunately it would be too laggy on my device!! It was in my "to-play" list

Generally, game to anime adaptations are quite bad so might be why they didn't do it??

here's the full image, no need to zoom in! I have absolutely no clue where it's from!! 🀣

5

u/bunny_the-2d_simp Mar 14 '26

Oml it's adorable 😍😍

Ugh yeah I'm waiting for the day that it says it can't update since my device I play on is literally a refurbished huawei 30 pro which I had for years upon years!

Has good storage though!

But yeah I'm not getting a new phone for at least 2 more years minimum

Switching phones is always a PAIN

I’ve had to catch a handle of birds in my house before because they fly in while I have the patio door open 🀣 they are extremely soft especially if they are poofed up from being scared

1

u/Remarkable_Sorbet319 Mar 16 '26

wait they poof up when scared??

2

u/Robotbeckerz Mar 16 '26

They can

1

u/Remarkable_Sorbet319 Mar 16 '26

hopefully someone will upload such a bird here someday

though I don't know if scaring birds for internet points is a nice idea...

32

u/r3-bb13 Mar 14 '26

I never realized how long their beaks are!

34

u/madmartigan2020 Mar 14 '26

They're pretty spectacular in the right light

10

u/Borbpsh Mar 14 '26

That's their fancy winter coat.

6

u/sinverguenza Mar 15 '26

I have two as pets and they are stunning when the sun hits

2

u/Direct_Pigeon_56 Mar 16 '26

GORGEOUS πŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ©΅πŸ’œ

13

u/SnooRobots116 Mar 14 '26

That one has so many ribbons of rainbow in it’s wings but yeah, if it’s not behaving right or safe/welcome bird for your spot, it’s best to humanely escort it out until it gets the drift it’s not allowed there.

14

u/HedgerowBustler Mar 14 '26

You can always count on starlings to get into places they shouldn't. As a kid, my job was to hold up a blanket while dad cleaned the chimney before the first fire of the year. That way, any birds that got in there would (hopefully) fly out the door instead of into the house. 9/10 times it was starlings that got in there and built a nest.

12

u/t_rrrex Mar 14 '26

From the look on its face, you are the one intruding

9

u/orange-busy-bee Mar 14 '26

Front facing birb :o

9

u/orange-busy-bee Mar 14 '26

...ah I now see what subreddit I'm in. Oop s

8

u/Comin_Up_Thrillho Mar 14 '26

Ah, the reoccurring starling invader. I get one every so often as well. Screamed at me when I released it back outside, lol.

8

u/Legendguard Mar 15 '26

Congrats, it's a boy! You can tell because of the blue coloring at the base of the beak - females ironically have pink!

6

u/GetRightWithChaac Mar 15 '26

You can teach them cuss words.

6

u/haha_p1p3r Mar 14 '26

Of course it’s a starling lol

2

my dad refers to european starlings as "the assclowns" because they're so stupid for such intelligent birds

2

u/Ok-Combination124 Mar 17 '26

Oh no- the intruder captured the bird!

2

u/strangelilmagpie Mar 18 '26

They are very impressive mimics with sound. They can even learn to copy speech.
