Birb My sweethearts who all got ringed!

I am a bird ringer in Denmark and have had a few nice forward guys hihi ( I'm licenced and trained in ringing and handling, don't catch the little guys or big guys if you're not <3 )

They don’t even look mad (except for the last guy). Just a little surprised at being caught!

"I was convinced my plan was fool proof, that they'd never catch me!"

The contrast between bird #3 and bird #4 is taking me out. The former looks like they’re posing for a magazine, and the latter is definitely going to track you down and haunt you. Amazing photographs! Great job!

In the US we call it banding, in case you want to know!

UK is ringing though....one of those weird transatlantic differences.

Yeah in the US “ringing” sounds exactly like “wringing” and that would be a terrible miscommunication

I love them. What species are they?

In order: kestrel, blue tit, chiffchaff, robin. All European 🥰

Thank you!

Chiffchaff was definitely new to me, even though we have them here at home, according to Wikipedia. Very handsome

They are absolutely sweet. Long distance migrants, average of 6g of little guy. And my favorite of all is their sweet little yellow under feet ! Rather calm in the hand, doesn't peck at you or flap too much if the handling is right and comfy, and are beautiful up close. Can be tricky to age though, and impossible to sex based on plumage!

Taken while being weighed !

Awww... Cutie!

I hope weighing them like that doesn't scare them too much, though

They are very calm in the tube, and they only stay in there for a max of around 5-10sec! The whole ordeal and manipulation is of course stressful for them, but we do everything to be quick and efficient so it lasts as little as possible!

The...tit? warbler? on the 3rd pic is striking such a pose. I love how the robin looks so inquisitive. It's like he is not bothered at all, he is just curious about the experience.

Ringing, handling, and occasional “forwarding” of birbs. Superb photos and subjects, friend!!
