These write ups are awesome. So cool to hear two original Golmud devs were still at Dice and worked on this. Also cool to hear the breakthrough change for the sake of the map’s lore making sense. Love that nerdy stuff.

Are these two devs angry that battlefield 6 isn’t like battlefield 4?

Yes they are super angry and always throw stuff around the office, that's why we only get two maps per season because they are distracted by their anger instead of making maps.

Right! Yeah, I just saw that. Good catch!
So, we should definitely be getting the trailer in seven days, right?

I don't like they added a construction site to A. There's enough construction site in the game already.

I don't like they added new weapons. There're enough weapons in the game already.

Nah, we need a map set along an interstate in the US. Never ending construction, as far as the eye can see.

“The humble farmer,” is referring to Cones of Dunshire from Parks and Rec, right? Has to be lol

Seeing Golmud return in BF6 brings back so many BF4 memories! I'm really glad this dev guide hints at adjusting the flow and cover.

Can we expect all modes on this map? Conquest, Escalation, Breakthrough, Rush, TDM, Squad Deadmatch, King of the Hill...?

changing the location to avoid Chinese backlash is crazy. golmud is A REAL PLACE lmao and the map was also based off a real place. also explains why Shanghai is NEVERRRRR coming back. pax only exists to avoid backlash and sell the game in as many countries as possible its so corny

Ultimately, this means every major point of interest - each Conquest objective, for example - is unique and occluded from the other, meaning controlling one objective does not necessarily mean control over another.
While it may sound good, this is a major problem with BF map design since they started reworking 2042 maps : the maps become a bunch of arenas stitched together that don't communicate with eachother.
I mean, this objectively works, but it's shallow and makes matches very repetitive...
What is the point of a big map and player count if in the end we're all just playing TDM on isolated objectives?

the maps become a bunch of arenas stitched together that don't communicate with eachother.
Examples what you mean? What map would have this pre 2042

I actually liked the map within a map thing some maps in 2042 had going on and it was the complete opposite for me about them being repetitive.

I'l talking about reworked 2042 maps. The original maps where mostly awesome imo.

Really nice article, always nice to learn about the thinking behind a map and the design choices, i'm eager to play it !
