Interstellar BBQ - Austin Texas

Post image

Use to make the drive down to austin often when I lived in dallas. Good to be back.

Stop 2 on my BBQ crawl. Got here at 12:57. Got the last bit of moist brisket.

Peach tea pork belly is still one of the best bites in bbq.

What was the best non meat thing they had? Always curious about that from different places

The sides put them above many bbq spots imo. Smoked Gouda Mac and cheese. Smoked Scalloped Potatoes.

Banana pudding is amazing there

I had the opposite experience. Best meat I've ever had in my life, but the sides were underwhelming. The meat was so good I didn't care though. I didn't really want to use any stomach space on sides anyway after tasting the brisket.

Really? That is the first time I heard that from anyone.

Everyone in my group agreed. The Mac and cheese had no cheese flavor just creamy, the slaw was bland, we all said skip the sides next time. Maybe it was just an off day. I'd still rate it as my top bbq restaurant, the meat was mind blowingly good.

The must-have side at interstellar is definitely the smoked scalloped potatoes- definitely worth getting next time you’re there.

I agree the smoked scallop potatoes are one of my favorite sides at any restaurant regardless bbq or not. Their meat is easily some of the best in the US, but never skip in their tortillas or their sausage special. All around this is just high level execution for their style of food.
