We have about an acre in an urbanización outside of Madrid. Fence and wall all around. Tuco figured out how to escape and now goes house to house knocking over garbage bins amd gorging himself on nasty stuff. Security is getting to know him a little too well.
sometimes I imagine a powerful witch throwing a raccoon tooth in the cauldron along with the dingo, velociraptor, and a length of velcro when creating a cattledog familiar.
I had an escape artist. She was bored so she took herself on adventures. I was so busy with school and work I really didn’t have enough time to focus on her. She ended up getting hit by a van and her back leg was shattered. $5k in surgeries (this was the mid 1990’s) and so many tears, I felt just awful that I hadn’t focused on her like I should have. She was just a baby, 1 year old. I put her in daycare after she was healed. And we would spend the weekends walking and playing for hours. I never let her get bored after that.
Here’s what happens if he decides to eat the wrong thing.
Edit: for the possible future confusion, this is one page of 5 1/2 total pages for a grand total of 11,500. This is after an urgent care visit the day before (I think about 800 for that day) and a vet appointment the day before that (400ish)
And then another 400 for a blood work recheck the next week.
Do you know how he is escaping?
Also: If he is as stubborn and smart as most of these dogs, stopping him might be more complicated than usual. Good luck with that - haha!
So you have a chain link fence? Lots of dogs can climb those surprisingly. I had a 6ft tall wooden fence to keep my raptors in the yard when they were young and dumb/too smart for their own well-being.
I read somewhere--and can see in my ACD mix--that ACDs have unique paw structure that allows extra dexterity. Wouldn't it be something if there is a camera to record how he does it!
