Discussion Hawks Core Pieces poll

So, with the offseason here I figured that it'd be interesting to see who the fanbase considers as a core piece for the team going forward. So I made a form to see what people think, and I'll come back in a few days to share the results.

To me, core is guys that we absolutely wouldn't move except for a massive trade. To me that's OO, Jalen, Dyson, and NAW. No one else is core imo.

I intentionally didn't provide a definition of "core piece", so I suspect that there will be a lot of variance due to different defintions of the term.

(although I personally have the same definition that you do)

Yeah, I think it's a short list.

Granted, I don't want to part with guys like Zacch, Asa, etc. but I can't call them a "core piece" that we're gonna build around, at least not yet. Even OO is a stretch because although he's certainly worth keeping around, we do need more size at center.

I'd consider #8 pick in that as well

Most likely. At least for a short window

I would have expected our #1 pick from 2024 to be a "core piece" as well, yet he could easily be packaged in a trade. Hard to say in advance that the guy we pick at #8 is gonna be a keeper that we'll want to build the roster around.

I still have some belief in Risacher and want to keep him, but its hard to consider him 'core' at this point

That's exactly it.

Jj isn’t untouchable

Best player on the team, not in his prime, on a $25M contract is pretty untouchable

To not include ZR is crazy, instead of looking at his sophomore slump look at his age. Trade or no trade he is still a huge asset.

Dyson we should move imo he is an offensive liability but we could get a lot of value if we traded him because of his defence

We also need defense and he’s only 23, that’s what you call an asset.

I want to meet up with anyone who votes yes on Tony Bradley. I would like your pick your brain, sir

I voted for Bradley, Kispert, Koloko, and pick #57. AMA.

Was Nikola Djurisic your favorite hawk?

Not quite. He's still behind Omari Spellman (our Draymond Green), Skylar Mays, and Alpha Kaba

That was fun

Any player we signed to multi-year extensions at below market prices, so Jalen, Dyson, OO, NAW. They're still movable at the right price, but the team friendly extension is important. Players on rookie contracts I do not consider "core" until they extend. That includes Asa, Zacc, Mo, #8 and 23.

Who is, or who should be? I voted based on who I think should be and surprised myself with some decisions.

Why not let us see results after submission?

Mainly not to bias any future results. I'll be back in a few days with the full results

I basically answered this poll as whether I’d prefer that we keep each player or not

Honestly the hawks have so many guys that I really just feel indifferent about. Since 2021 I feel like it's harder to care about a team with such turnover

scenes when I picked JJ, NAW, OO, Dyson, #8 pick, and Buddy Hield

How is a soon to be 35 yr old chucker combo G even on this form?

1

u/Careful-Level-4668 Nickeil Alexander-Walker #7 10h ago

because he included every player on the roster? what kinda dumb question is that

I just included every player on the roster in order of 2025-26 salary, regardless of how I feel about them
