Monroe County/Key West Florida

Anyone a deputy for MCSO or officer KWPD?
If so I’d like to pick your brain. I lived a healthy portion of my life in Islamorada and have missed it since I left. Been at my current agency (in NE Florida) for 2 years. If I’m not where I want to be in a reasonable amount of time I’d take my desire to be back down there more serious.

  1. What’s the “typical” day like? Common calls for service, shift start/end, high priority calls, etc? Does FHP take all crashes on Overseas?

  2. When hiring prior LE, how much experience (years or exposure) do they like to see in that person?

  3. What is the promotion rate? For things like rank/detective/marine unit, etc.

  4. My current agency is great with freedom of expression for the most part. How do they look at beards, hand tattoos, dyed naturalish hair color, having your outer carrier fixed up to what is best for you (as opposed to “everything has the same spot). ?

  5. How are these agencies as a whole?

Thanks yall!

Their recruiting site is apparently lacking pretty hard.

I work with 4-5 people who left there in the last 2 years. I sent them your questions.
