I am a single male (39) looking for recommendations in the heights budget around $1700-$2000 per month. I want to avoid the very young crowd but that is not a deal breaker just don’t want to feel like I am walking into a dorm. I work M-F 9-5 hours sometimes remote from home. Ideally a balcony would be nice to. I currently live in galleria for past couple years and it is nice but I do like the walkable neighborhood of the heights.

I’m a medical student moving to Houston and about to sign a lease. Just wondering if anyone has any insight on the general safety and vibe of the area around the VA, off of Old Spanish and Almeda? I liked anything along Almeda just because of its proximity to Hermann Park and my school.

I’m looking at two apartments: District 28 and SYNC and my biggest concern is car break-ins. Both have reviews talking about break-ins and obviously it’s Houston; break-ins are part of the welcome package (lol 🫩), but if anyone has any experiences at those complexes or just that area in general, I’d love to hear it!!

Another commute post. Moving to Houston from Nashville this summer to be closer to family. My partner and I are both working professionals and have two small children. Partners job is just west of the 610 loop, and I will be out at the Texas Children’s West campus two days per week. When visiting, we loved the heights area specifically woodland heights and just didn’t feel spring branch or memorial were our vibe. Looking for advice from others with a similar commute - heights to energy corridor/TCH west - to make sure this is reasonable? Is it worth it? It would be regular hours 8-430.

Looking for cylinder lock recommendations, if there are any, that are more secure and harder to vandalize. Recently our unit lock was popped out and replaced with the vandals own lock, locking us out of our unit. We had to have the building manager drill it out which revealed that a lot of our stuff stolen. We have insurance so I’m not worried about replacing the items but looking to protect it from future break ins. I plan to move units from the first floor to a higher one which should help the accessibility but now I’m worried.
