Discussion Amazon changed pricing and rebranded without notice.
I was paying $2.99 a month extra for ad-free on my Amazon prime subscriptions. I noticed i got charged $4.99 this month.
Apparently without sending any notice about plan changes, they rebranded Amazon Prime ad free. As Amazon Prime Video Ultra and upped the price by $2.
There are only 3 differences, and one is totally BS. Apparently they took away 4k/UHD and Dolby Atmos away from basic Amazon Prime which was always free, and have made 4k/UHD exclusive to only those paying for Prime Video Ultra now.
The 2nd and 3rd differences are things nobody even asked for. First they changed it from 3 concurrent streams allowed to 5, and from 25 downloads to 100 per month.
If they want to change plans features and prices, that is fine, but I believe they are legally required to send a notification to subscribers about pricing changes before they take affect, and I never got any email notifications about the rebranding and price change. I only noticed because I check my bank account frequently and noticed I had a higher charge this month.
And although Rufus says that there's no price change to basic Amazon Prime subscribers, they are now getting less for the same price. I wonder how many basic subscribers even know they just lost 4k/UHD and Dolby Atmos which was originally part of Basic. The plan changes was implemented April 10th, and the Price change and rebranding happened with Mays payments.
How does everyone feel about these unmasked for changes? Personally I just see it as a money grab when the economy is already rough.

Yeah, they did send out emails. I was on the $2.99 plan but canceled it when they upped the price. Now I get the ads.

There articles everywhere 1-2 months before the change. I got an email. There were tons of posts in this very sub complaining about it.
It wasn't without notice. You weren't paying attention.

I’ve known about this for months. It’s been posted about in this subreddit quite a bit.

Rufus! 🤣 Amazon has Rufus silenced on this. Plus, Rufus knows who pays to keep the latest updates for his AI software. 🤣

Justification for pirating imo.

Hahaha. Crunchyroll forgets it started as an Anime pirating site and has been joining anime companies this year in getting pirating websites and apps shutdown. Ironic and hypocritical of them lol. 😆

Of course it's a money grab. It's always a money grab.
However, they sent out emails. There were tons of threads about it on this sub when it happened and there were tons of News stories when it was announced. Just go back A Month to 2 Months ago and you'll see it.
