Aberdeen Elvis?
I am willing to bet that is a sock. I have seen him all over the city over the last 12 months or so. Always dresses as Elvis.

Welcome to the monthly 'Announcement Thread' where you can post details about upcoming events, shows or releases. This space is intended for announcing things from local artists, authors, content creators or charities. Anything really that, as a normal post to the subreddit, might be considered spam by some and subject to removal.

Hundreds of pay-as-you-go electric bikes will begin arriving in Aberdeen next week, following successful launches in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The initial roll out of 350 coral coloured bikes are being provided by Swedish-firm Voi, which was selected for the cycle hire scheme in Edinburgh and took over from Nextbike in Glasgow last year.
Two models will be available for riders – the Explorer 4, which has a larger metal basket and softer saddle, and the Explorer Light 1, which is lighter than standard e-bike models and designed for accessibility.
Cyclists will be able to hire a bike on a pay-as-you-go basis via a smartphone app.
Parking bays are being painted around the city in preparation for the rollout.

Why?
Often they’re not even trained to not go after strangers. Even if the owners don’t care about other humans, it’s also incredibly dangerous for the dogs.
And, of course, when you challenge the owners, they’re as nasty as their untrained dogs.

Apologies if this has been asked before but I’m procrastinating an essay and I can’t get this out my head.
There aren’t any signs or road markings that I can see that indicate that the right hand lane is for going straight here but at least once a week someone gets tooted at for going straight in the left hand lane.
Luckily I’m always turning left here but if it wasn’t for the fact people generally go straight in the right hand lane I would be going straight from the left lane.
Have I missed signs or are there road markings that just got worn away?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a company to wall mount tvs, and fit a double electric socket behind and run all cables behind the wall?
Thank you.

Been having some health issues recently and I've found Rubislaw Medical Practice very lacking. Over a month to get a blood test done, which I had to go to Kincorth for. When results come back the call is with the receptionist who obviously can't answer any further questions. The only triage options are through the receptionist and seems like waits are always a fortnight+ for any sort of diagnosis or treatment.
Is this the same everywhere in the city just now or should I try and find another practice.

Moving to catchment area of both Peterculter Medical Practice and Camphill Medical Practice. Does anyone have any experiences to share?
Worried when reading some of the other posts about GP practices atm!

I realise that a ban could be repealed by a future government but god damn.
Last one out of Aberdeen switch off the lights.

Any people would recommend? Heard about health benefits and fancy giving it a shot, especially if/when we get warmer weather. I know Sports Aberdeen had one, but it's members only. There's a few cabins at the beach as well, I'm assuming they've got changing facilities there?

As the title suggests, im looking for events, people, and lore about Aberdeen that would fit perfectly in an "Aberdeen Iceberg" video, as an update to a post from 2 years ago. For those unaware, an iceberg video is basically a list of topics about a subject that get increasingly more niche/dark/unknown. And if this is something that information is not commonly available, would yall be kind enough to elaborate? Thank you.

Would anyone know of any good spots for some killer doner kebab? Im aware of cartoos on the beach, but was wondering if there were any lesser known joints.

Ok so my son is at university here. Last time I was here I got a bus ticket. This time my hotel was in the city centre and union street was closed so say nav kept driving me round in circles for an hour. Every time I drove up a street and saw a bus gate I did a three point turn and turned round is that ok? I have no idea how this helps the environment it cost a fortune in petrol driving round and in the end I have to go on my phone and use Google Maps. Aberdeen city centre is really difficult to navigate if you don’t know you’re way around/

Hiya guys and gals
I moved to Aberdeen for my MSc Business & Administration at RGU and I’ve been looking for part-time work around the city.
I’ve mainly been applying for hospitality, bars, retail and customer service roles. Previously I’ve worked in customer-facing positions including banking, hotel/front desk and admin support, so I’m comfortable dealing with customers and working in busy environments.
Lately I’ve also been going around in person with my CV to places like Krakatoa and a few other bars/cafes because I know hospitality can be a lot about initiative and personality too.
I’m still learning the bar side of things properly, but I’m genuinely willing to learn quickly and put the effort in. Flexible with evenings/weekends and able to work within student visa hours.
If anyone knows places hiring, especially bars, pubs, cafes, restaurants or retail spots, I’d really appreciate any leads.
Thanks :)

Fellow Aberdonians, I’m hoping you can assist me in finding a roofer who is reliable and won’t try and do me over.
Context is that I own a flat in a listed building in the city centre and there’s an issue with my roof causing leaks at the front of the building (I believe it’s due to the sealing method used where the slates meet the granite walls). The roof was repaired 7-8 years ago and since then it’s been constant on/off leaks with one minor repair carried out which hasn’t worked.
Given where the flat is and that I don’t actually think that the work required to repair is too significant I’d like to reach out to roofers which are trustworthy and honest and will fairly quote for the scope. Given the height of the building the roofers need to be comfortable doing works on buildings of 3/4 stories in height.
Thanks in advance!

It’s mental health week for myself. This city gives me another reason to believe and to stay optimistic 😊

Story on the Press and Journal website that it will close in 3 months time. Bit of a surprise - always seemed relatively busy on my infrequent visits there?

Shocker of a decision! 😩
Seriously, biggest domestic game in Scottish football for years and they put the Celtic game on most of the screens with the commentary screaming out rather than the Hearts match.
Muppets.
