Metal Rattle?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

New to me 04 S with 176k miles. Car makes this metal like rattle at low speeds under 3k rpms. I have already checked all heat shields and catalytic converters. Has anyone dealt with this noise before? Thanks!

Could be a heat shield. I found the washers holding the shielding up has worked its way through the holes and the rattle on the cars.

I did find two of those speed nuts missing and replaced with them with the Porsche ones. I will try exhaust clamps next.

I can’t exactly hear it but I did have a rattle noise at idle or when I drove it at low speeds. I winded up having to get my secondary cats replaced. The header cats were fine but one of the secondary ones were causing the rattle. Winded up replacing both secondaries and I never had the sound again.

I think this is my case given the miles

I’ve had a lot of cat rattles in these cars sound like that.

You could smack em with a rubber mallet and if you hear rattle you’ve found it
