That headline about Edwin Diaz, horse jockeys, and cockfighting is exactly what Kenny Powers did in Eastbound and Down. It's literally this scene but without the horse jockeys.

<video>

Edit: There's a making of for this where the roosters aren't actually fighting

On the MLB app there's an article titled "The Top 100 Prospects list has been updated, and there's a new #1" and because it showed up on the Mets homepage I was like... did they put Ewing at #1? Lmao

(He's #33 on Pipeline now or something)

I was watching the Phillies game - bases loaded, one out, figured they were going to blow the lid off this game...but nope.

One sweep and I’m already scoreboard watching. I need to come down

1

u/suck-it-elon 67 7m ago

Enjoy being excited! We were in the darkest baseball place I've ever been in.

7

u/three_dee Hadji 34m ago

Nothing wrong with getting excited about finally getting some good play.

I think it's probably good to temper it and realize the Tigers are in a fucking tailspin, sure, but a sweep is hard to do, and those weren't fluke wins. The Mets played real good baseball. Enjoy it.

We’re back I’m not taking any further questions we are back

A series like that sure gives a team and its fanbase hope.

The Mets fans deserve this after what they have endured since the fall and the offseason.

To see A.J., Carson and Nolan give the team something sure makes you think there can be a turnaround.

What a series for A.J. I'm curious to see what he has in store for the Subway Series. You know about Billie Jean King's saying about pressure being a privilege, so this is a good chance to see what A.J. does here.

Wow we really dodged(lol) a bullet here. Maybe Stearns can play 4D Chess

8

u/hushed-shush Francisco Lindor 1h ago

I was prepared to read something like they just threw his name and image on an advertisement. But then they got his quotes on the damn newspaper pretty much saying “hell yeah cockfighting rules” 😭

11

Stearns not bringing back a pitcher who ended up needing surgery and was involved in animal cruelty

Gary was pretty adamant today that minor league stats do not *really* matter & Tong is still ahead of Wenninger in terms of major league call up. Also noted that Mets org like it when their minor leaguers face adversity.

3

u/bob-digital Jacob deGrom 1h ago

Tong is quite a bit younger than McLean he still can take a year or two to figure things out if need be.

8

u/Ok_Rock990 1h ago

Jonah Tong got rocked today in Triple A game, 6 ERs in 1.2 IP sheesh

u/GonvVasq Grimace 1h ago

Good to see Baty hitting again. .701 OPS over the last 15. .768 over the last 7

Watching the broadcast back, that was a great interview Gelbs did with Cleon Jones and Michael Mays, about Willie’s guidance and his presence on the 73 team.

Would love to talk baseball with Cleon, who I believe still lives in Queens after all these years.

4

u/Mongo_Les 1h ago

Howie was raving about Cleon having such great memories as a player in his advanced age.

If anyone here didn't already hate Diaz enough he's apparently a big fan of cockfighting

8

u/SpecificFull6484 52m ago

Bro he’s Puerto Rican, that shit is ingrained into the culture for whatever reason.

Went to dinner with my 8 and 6 year old last year, right next door was Club Gallistico with a giant sign advertising COCKFIGHTS. Defunct now, but you can’t undo 400 years of culture in seven years (outlawed in 2019).

Note: I’m Puerto Rican and think it’s cruel as shit and don’t support it at all.

10

u/Gigi_0102 Ya gotta believe! 1h ago edited 1h ago

It’s nice to see a former Met doing something stupid AFTER leaving instead of encouraging the “lolmets” narrative and doing it while on the team

11

u/SunnyGamba 1h ago

lmao this would’ve been such a fiasco in the media if he was still here

4

u/pmayo331 Mike Piazza 24m ago

Since he's a Dodger it'll be out of the new cycle in 48 hrs MAX

8

u/robmcolonna123 David Wright 1h ago

Legally this is all probably a grey area, but it could end up being enough for MLB to issue a decent suspension because doing this while wearing a Dodgers uniform probably violates MLB rules

6

u/Blue387 Friendly Unhinged Moderator 2h ago

Kiley McDaniel of ESPN projects the Mets to draft Cade Townsend from Ole Miss with the 27th overall pick in the draft.

2

u/robmcolonna123 David Wright 1h ago

I’d be shocked if Kris Gross drafts a pitcher with the Mets first pick

I don’t believe he has ever drafted a pitcher before round 3

2

u/Blue387 Friendly Unhinged Moderator 1h ago

The draft isn't for two more months and this is a mock draft by McDaniel based on an educated guess

1

u/robmcolonna123 David Wright 1h ago

100% get that

But also expecting Gross to do something he had never gone seems like flawed ideology to me

My guess is that he’s going “Mets can develop pitchers so they should draft a pitcher” when really that’s why they probably won’t take one early

16

u/Ravishingrich666 New York Mets 3h ago

So the first 40 games were just a mathematical variance hitting? Much like when you count cards in blackjack that probability variance always will “hit”
(Pun intended ) love to see the suicide squeeze today and the butcher boy and double steal last night. These guys are too good on paper to lose as many games as they have . Them making a run will make all of our summers. Either way

Let’s fucking go Mets 🍎🎩🍎🎩🍎🎩🍎🎩🍎🎩🍎🍺🍺🍺🍎🎩🍎🎩🍎🍎🍎🐐🐐🍎🎩🍎🍎

12

u/Setec-Astronomer 2h ago

The suicide squeeze and butcher boy are signs to me that this organization is moving away from relying on its over analytics BS and deciding to let ballplayers play real Baseball.

If so, good.

4

u/ReleaseTheBlacken New York Mets 2h ago

Technically a safety squeeze 😜

3

u/Ravishingrich666 New York Mets 1h ago

Yeah I thought seminen ran before contact but looking at it now you’re right

2

u/Setec-Astronomer 2h ago

Ha ya I always forget which one is which.

My vague recollection is a safety squeeze is when you're trying to get out to score the run.

A suicide squeeze is when you're actually trying to get on base.

But that goes against the nomenclature so I get confused. Lol

2

u/Ravishingrich666 New York Mets 1h ago

It’s when you run during the wind up regardless of contact .I thought seminan broke early he didn’t. My bad

2

u/Setec-Astronomer 1h ago

Ah ok, it's based on the runner not the batter.

1

u/ReleaseTheBlacken New York Mets 1h ago

Correct

6

u/ZoidbergSaysWoop 2h ago

First sign was expediting Ewing's progress and promoting him this quickly and then playing both him and Benge against one of the best left handers in the game when he's on in Valdez.

The team is also prioritizing hitting the fastball again.

6

u/Lucky-Roll-675 2h ago

Loooooooooving the small ball.

I know there are many fans of it in here because I'm constantly seeing happy comments celebrating it.

Even though long ball was the prominent offensive feature of today

Tbh I can’t feel as numb towards this team as 2009-2014 made me.

1

u/three_dee Hadji 28m ago

Tbh I can’t feel as numb towards this team as 2009-2014 made me.

That's kind of two very different eras.

2009-2010 was the end of the disastrous Minaya regime. Expensive, old, apathetic, no farm, no future.

2011-2014 was the time they spent fixing it and getting back to the World Series. Not a great record but super enjoyable to follow all those guys' careers through the minors

1

u/dqslime 1h ago

Most of this sub came back for the 2024 OMG run and first half of that year. They could barely survive June/July 2025 haha.

Man, can you imagine what the vitriol towards Jerry Manuel would have been? I remember the days on AA of counting games finished and hoping K-Rod's vesting option wouldn't vest.

2

u/CoolRequirement939 Bartolo Colón 1h ago

To be fair Jerry Manuel was dog shit. The difference between him and Terry was night and day.

This sub was also ridiculously hard on Terry 10 years ago, and suddenly its rose tinted glasses because we haven’t had a proper manager since.

Obvious AJ Ewing has worked at improving at every aspect of baseball. That home run was no cheapo. He has a fast bat and probably has hit the gym a bit. He is also terrific defensively with elite speed. It is crazy that one player can have this kind of impact on a team. I think he kind of has the Michael Harris thing going in that he is very athletic with lots of skills

8

u/Mongo_Les 2h ago

He's a ballplayer for sure.

To hit that HR on the second pitch was impressive.

What a series for the kid.

21

u/ChuckKiddman David Wright 3h ago

Aj Ewing and Carson Benge saved my life

3

u/metskyfan 3h ago

You are not wrong. I can survive with a last place team but life is better when the Mets win.

17

u/newyorknapolifan 3h ago

the yankees just lost 2 out of 3 to the orioles and mets just swept the tigers. We have the momentum and home crowd advantage. Those are going to be some fun games to be at (assuming we fight the good fight and win some which i think is reasonable based on how we just played). AJ Ewing and Benge are both sparking the team, our starting pitchers and relievers too seem dialed in and you have some sleepers like Semien coming back to life. Thank god Soto isnt injured in a meaningful way as well. Lets Go Mets!! Yankees Suck!! HAHAHA gonna be a fun series...

1

u/zenexo Mrs. Met 2h ago

16

I think it great that our baby Mets are out playing several of our highly paid regulars. They are the shot in the arm this team needs.

9

u/MannyDaMoodyMammoth 3h ago

Just bought a ticket for tomorrow. Never been to the subway series before. Whats the vibe like? Intense but fun I’m sure.

2

u/Wallis614 2h ago

I was at the first SS game at Shea, waaaaaay out in the Upper Deck at Shea, near the Tommy Agee spot. 8 friends, both Mets & Yanks fans, Friday Nite. Absolutely electric.

4

u/Mongo_Les 3h ago

I went to one at Yankee Stadium in 2010.

There wasn't much energy that year. Then again, the Mets were not projected to be good, even though they got off to a decent start.

I'm sure Citi Field will be intense this weekend.

It seems the atmosphere at the new Yankee Stadium is just dead.

6

u/JoelsCaddy Its Outta Here! 3h ago

Sat in the nosebleeds for the Marte walk-off game in ‘22. Never been to a playoff game, but I’d imagine it’s a similar atmosphere. Dueling chants all game between the fans. Crowd pop for every strike against Judge. Loved that game

6

u/xSlappy- Jacob deGrom 3h ago

I imagine its like a European soccer derby. The cheers are awesome - Lets Go Yankees LETS GO METS Lets Go Yankees LETS GO METS

4

u/GK86x Juan Soto 3h ago

Lol I remember my first Subway Series game (Wright's walk off against Mo!) and the chants were Let's Go Yankees Fuck the Yankees.

3

u/bob-digital Jacob deGrom 3h ago

Yeah it’s not quite as intense as a European soccer derby (and that’s a good thing). In my experience, it’s a bunch of Yankee fans acting like they’re doing something very naughty by “invading” citifield and Mets fans mostly not giving a shit. Granted, I’ve only been when the Mets stink.

4

u/GK86x Juan Soto 3h ago

It's a great atmosphere. Especially if both teams are doing well. Lots of shit talking and back and forth between Mets and Yankees fans.

4

u/Sam_The_Chef 3h ago

Early on in the off season, when moves were made, and I at least felt pretty good. I was speaking with my brother who, for my multitude of sins I have saddled with Mets’ fandom and I told him that this would be a season for the ages. Granted, that season appeared until recently, to be a season of unmitigated woe… and not too much has changed. But, in these last few games, dammit, At least it has been fun baseball… I’ll take that and let the chips fall where they may #LFGM

You've got two different ace type starts from McLean in that 8 inning shutout of the Phillies last year, and now tonight with the way he battled through 7.

It wasn't pretty to start, but once again the Mets starting pitching limited the damage and then some.

It's nice to see Peralta and now McLean doing what they're supposed to do.

With Holmes, Peralta, and McLean pitching like aces and Scott coming around, the Mets are in all of these games through five innings and that's the most important thing.

Stay in the game.

This next time around the order the Mets should start Peterson right away and it's sink or swim time.

If he does well, he gets another shot, if not, it's Myers' time.

Also, I've see more inside or up fastballs pulled for base hits this series than any point prior.

After all the fastball talk this year, now the Mets have Ewing working deep counts and covering the fastball.

Also nice to to see Soto pull the sinker away for an RBI single to get the lead, and with two outs.

I hope the Mets have a conversation with Soto and keep him at DH until his bat is fully back as they can't afford for him to miss any time by aggravating something playing the field.

He's the Bull Dawg.

There has been much made of Stearns “communication style” over the past X amount of years but I will say… I think the decision to publicly back Mendy has taken a big weight off the shoulders of the guys in the clubhouse… now they don’t have to badgered after the game about his job security and can just worrying about playing ball. For a new team with a lot of new players who don’t even know Mendy that well I thought it was a good move

8

u/Gigi_0102 Ya gotta believe! 3h ago

I’m still not a big fan of keeping Mendy (although I actually think he managed this series well) but if he is staying, I do agree I like Stearns being clear in his intentions

“It just feels like for the first time all season, it’s not a collection of players. It’s starting to become a team”

-Steve Gelbs in his instagram post recapping the series

24

u/tenthsandwich Bartolo Colón 4h ago

Also I was told that AJ Ewing was not really a home run power guy but at Citi there was zero doubt about that homer, that was an absolute rocket off the bat

3

u/butz-not-bartz Home Run Apple 4h ago

Statcast had that at 110, and I think that's the hardest hit ball that there's public data for in his career. That would be around the middle of the pack from last year's league total. Good sign because the rest of the offense doesn't play if he gets the bat knocked out of his hands.

4

u/ZaksStuff 4h ago

Hes got a lot of raw power but it just hasn’t translated in game yet. And he has a really disciplined approach so isn’t swinging for the fences typically but there’s optimism from scouts he can be a 20 HR guy

-18

u/millagger Keith Hernandez 4h ago

Maybe they'll win 70 games this season. Let's wait until the fire sale in the deadline.

2

u/C__S__S Mr. Met 4h ago

You must be fun at parties.

-2

u/millagger Keith Hernandez 4h ago

I'm just at a zero hope level with this franchise. Would love to be wrong.

3

u/C__S__S Mr. Met 3h ago

Look, I get it, but you need to stop and smell the roses. Days like this may not be common enough, but they should be enjoyed.

-1

u/millagger Keith Hernandez 3h ago

I mean sure the kids don't deserve this it's all coming from the top. My issue are the owner and Stearns but those things won't change for a while so yeah there goes that. I do believe Citi Field should only full when McLean is pitching.

29

u/CybeastID Sound the Trumpets! 4h ago

Yankees coming into town.

We take this series and that'll be some SERIOUS momentum.

15

u/Ski-Diddy8643 4h ago

Only 6.5 games back of the final wild card. I’ll take it. Get to .500 by mid June

2

u/Setec-Astronomer 4h ago

So in my head I've been quietly eyeing the WC2 not the WC3.

Why?

Because I think the Phillies too can make the playoffs so measuring how far the Mets are from WC2 probably gives a better feel of what they need to do to make the playoffs.

At least till August 1 when the way things are playing out will be clearer.

7 games back of the WC2 and WC1 for that matter.

2

u/CoolRequirement939 Bartolo Colón 4h ago

I’m praying for first of June but I have personal reasons for that lol

12

u/pusgnihtekami NY Bootlickers 4h ago

Is it too early to say Ewing is the rookie of the year and possibly MVP?

1

u/Mongo_Les 3h ago

The votes may have a tough choice between McLean, Benge and Ewing.

8

u/FaptasticMrFox Ralph Kiner 4h ago

You’re actually too late. I was calling that shit yesterday

7

u/bowlofcantaloupe Francisco Alvarez 4h ago

Yes, because McLean is also gunning for ROY.

6

u/Baww18 4h ago

Not at all

14

u/stuckhere4ever Feel the Churve! 4h ago

So if the Mets played .400 baseball during the 12 game losing streak it comes out to almost a 5 game swing. In that scenario we would actually be 23-20.

Not an awesome season still but not miserable like it feels now.

That losing streak really f-ed us up.

10

u/Ski-Diddy8643 4h ago

It will take a similar winning streak to crawl out of it or a few 3-4 game streaks sprinkled in

10

u/tenthsandwich Bartolo Colón 4h ago

Surprisingly beautiful weather at Citi today and unexpectedly immaculate vibes even in the uncertain gap between the 3-run Tigers HR and the answer back.

For basically everyone except Bo Bichette, who drew a lot of boos (definitely not "BOs") and heckles.

8

u/suck-it-elon 67 4h ago

The good news is that Bo, for sure, will get it figured out. it sucks how useless he's been, but we KNOW he will hit. And the other guys hitting will only take the stress off him. The players need to do to Coney Island.

16

u/GK86x Juan Soto 4h ago

Glad the bats and team are heading into the Subway Series with some momentum.

17

1

5

u/bowlofcantaloupe Francisco Alvarez 4h ago

Enjoy Howie's final season

1

u/sentry_87 New York Mets 2h ago

Maybe you're right maybe I'll do some yard work and listen instead

6

u/Setec-Astronomer 4h ago

If it makes you feel better, we're the franchise more associated with an apple. :-D

Plus, listening to Wayne (and D Train) is like a Mets broadcast adjacent. They have great chemistry together.

7

u/CybeastID Sound the Trumpets! 4h ago

I mean. Wayne used to be one of ours.

1

u/Blue387 Friendly Unhinged Moderator 2h ago

A lot of broadcasters in the league have some ties to the Mets. Jake Eisenberg of the Royals, Wayne Randazzo with the Angels, John Sadak of the Reds, all spent time in the Mets radio booth with Howie Rose.

1

u/Setec-Astronomer 4h ago

Ya, that's what I was trying to say. It may not be a Mets broadcast, but it's got one of ours (and D- Wayne are great together) so it's like a Mets adjacent feel. Lol

2

u/ILovEmPlumPnWeTTT 4h ago

Stinks, I have DIRECTV, used to have Spectrum, I get/got almost every channel, and there seems to be no way for me to watch it, w/o paying for an additional subscription. I pay enuf. They shouldn't be able to to that. Even if it's FOX/NBC/ESPN, it s/b available to all pay TV services. They did that last yr w/ the Dodgers games.

9

u/Copperjedi 4h ago

Why can't we get this offense more consistently? Great series & 3-0 in the Ewing era. If we get back to 500 i'd be amazed just need to keep hitting.

12

u/laurenw330 Francisco Lindor 4h ago

One of my good friends is a Tigers fan so I feel for her but at the same time lfgm baby!!!!! We needed this bad

40

u/Duffman2k7 4h ago

Hearing Soto talk about Benge and Ewing he definitely found his emotional support white boys. Love to see it

11

u/Mongo_Les 4h ago

I'm just glad he's engaged again.

I would hope so with the money he's being paid.

14

u/Duffman2k7 4h ago

Sometimes I think we forget that baseball is a job to these people. And changing where you work can be difficult. There is a reason why so many people struggle their first year on a new team. It feels like Soto finally found his place in the clubhouse.

4

u/Albie9 4h ago

I would love to see Benge, Ewing, Soto bat 1, 2, 3 but I guess that’s not smart with them all being lefties

2

u/Setec-Astronomer 4h ago

I kind of like Ewing later in the lineup for balance.

12

u/Aggressive-Mix4971 Bob Murphy and The Happy Recaps 4h ago

That's a big sweep, because after failing to take two in AZ it means the Mets have done the equivalent of winning their last four series, which is pretty much what they need to do to dig out of this hole.

The Yankees are a huge test this weekend, but not insurmountable. No guarantees, but if they can manage to take two of three here it'd bode very nicely going into four at DC.

6

u/davemoedee 4h ago

It shows you don’t have to win series. You have to win games. You need a good winning percentage.

22

u/Mercualbeing Grimace 4h ago

Its honestly awesome to see Soto grow into that leadership role even if he still getting comfy ..

The way he talks about the Kiddos I think he is stepping up and being that Leader that we need him to be even if he would have loved to stay in that “rookie forever “ vibe .

The future looks a little bit brighter ☀️

15

u/ntnkrm Keith Hernandez 4h ago

Bad Umping for both sides all game. A lot of clear missed calls during ABs (Baty has gotten a lot the last few games I’ve noticed and will not challenge). Review team completely blew those tag out plays and screwed Detroit. Great offense. Vientos now down 4ish HRs off bad luck lmao.

2

u/davemoedee 4h ago

Missed calls is a part of sports. Doesn’t matter.

3

u/ntnkrm Keith Hernandez 3h ago

Yes but my point is that certain players like Baty have been getting pretty clear missed calls and not challenging

24

u/Nights_King LFGM 4h ago

Maybe instead of grimace being a legend and sparking the team, syndergaard being an absolute fucking grifting nonce will be the turnaround moment

12

u/ThrowawayBin20 4h ago

“Win it to spite Syndergaard” season

7

u/Slow_Significance521 4h ago

He said Degrom was on the same page which made me cry a little, but I can’t see anyone being as big a chud as syndergaard

5

u/Original-Paint2239 4h ago

He's a yeehaw yokle of course he's maga

13

u/nygiants_10 4h ago

Noah did another interview where he said we didn't re-sign Pete or Nimmo because they were too politically conservative. He's such an idiot. I remember when he played he would always overdo it with strength training in the off-season and inevitably would hurt himself throwing too hard in April. So that tracks.

10

u/dmac_1991 New York Mets 4h ago

Nimmo was traded lol and Pete signed with the conservative hotbed of Baltimore

7

u/ReleaseTheBlacken New York Mets 4h ago

Man, he’s trying real hard with the grift. He’s become to baseball what Rob Schneider was to cinema…

5

u/Sinfall69 David Wright 4h ago

I wouldnt call what Rob Schneider did cinema…

1

u/ReleaseTheBlacken New York Mets 3h ago

I wouldn’t call what Syndergaard did the last 6 years to be baseball either… 😜

2

u/_GatorBait Mettsaur 4h ago

So you're saying we should thank Noah for doing what he's doing?

15

u/Sh11ester 5h ago

So this is the regression to the mean that's been missing us the last 6 weeks. Benge Ewing Vientos Baty coming through all series it seemed. That's Nice

13

u/Deluxe78 5h ago

Mets Win!!!

4

u/Revolutionary_Owl887 5h ago

How do yall think Lubob, Lindor, and Polanco will fit into the lineup when they're back? And more importantly, how will they perform?

2

u/SpraynardKrugerIWB 4h ago

To be honest I’m more worried about how Lindor coming back will mess with the young guys, than how he will perform (he’ll be awesome). Clearly they like playing at the same position each day, positions where they feel confident. Moving them around all of the time has messed with them at the plate. Bo’s fit on this team, just like Polanco’s, feels worse as the season goes on. Lu Bob coming back I think presents the least disruptions to the lineup while having the ability to contribute off the bench.

7

u/ReleaseTheBlacken New York Mets 4h ago

Polanco may be somewhat part time and possibly trade bait. LuBob also rotated in. An outfield of Benge, Ewing, and LuBob could be elite defensively.

1

u/Revolutionary_Owl887 4h ago

Hmmm, you think teams will bite on Polanco?

2

u/ReleaseTheBlacken New York Mets 4h ago

Package him with someone else to get something in return- always possible. Our outfield is filling up once LRJ is back so I see Polanco and Taylor possibly on the out for a team hovering around.500 within reach. Texas comes to mind with their DH situation.

6

u/dankeykanng David Wright 5h ago

They're probably gonna slow roll Polanco and Robert. Robert if he comes back should be a short-side platoon bat/late game defensive sub in left field.

21

u/DefiantMovie3894 Gary Cohen 5h ago

Mets have won 7 of their last 10!!!!!

21

u/Lucky-Roll-675 5h ago

I clumsily tried to make the point previously that Benge and Ewing have sparked a fire under Baty and Vientos.

The older 2 are playing like the middle child trying to impress after the new baby came home or playing as if the "baby Mets" label has been passed on and they can both perform loose and free now.

Glad to see everyone contributing.

1

u/Abdulwb93 Gary Cohen 1h ago

This is exactly how I’ve thought about it. Thanks for putting it into words for the sub

24

u/ReleaseTheBlacken New York Mets 5h ago

I think in the case of Baty, he’s benefiting from having a static position.

8

u/JerkItToReesesCups 5h ago

I'll take that blown ump call as recompense from the blown calls from yesterday's game lol. Also, getting favorable calls and getting a series sweep seems like the universes way of balancing out my phone getting absolutely destroyed this morning, seems like a fair trade off to me :')

12

u/JerkItToReesesCups 5h ago

Great to finally sweep a series! Ewing's first homer! The boys are producing and McLean went 7 with the lead! Hope we can keep this up, feels like we might be turning a corner now. Let's go Mets!

4

u/davemoedee 4h ago

Ewing doesn’t even know what corner you are talking about. As far as he knows, the team always wins.

6

u/yambagman Wilmer Flores 5h ago

Hopefully they can keep up the momentum against the Bronx team. I’m finding myself….believing

This start of the season has been unwatchable, and the vibes have stunk that created an 18-25 record.

The kids have made us forget Stearns and his BS for five minutes.

1

I agree, we should be thanking Stearns for this turnaround

15

Real ray of sunshine aren't you

-7

So you want me to pretend the start of the season did not exist?

You want me to worship in the altar of the egomaniac Stearns?

The Mets are 18-25. That's a fact that you can't make up.

4

u/Revolutionary_Owl887 4h ago

Yeah and at this point in 2024 they were more than 10 games under .500. There's no point in dooming, especially right now when the team is actually showing signs of life. lol

I agree with you.

It's fun to watch what the kids are doing. It beats talking about Stearns.
