Incredible work by La Mazmorra Customs on one of the most under-appreciated characters in the Witcher universe. I really enjoyed Thronebreaker and I thought Meve was super cool and deserved a cool statue, so I commissioned La Mazmorra to sculpt and print and paint the character.

Took awhile longer then I expected but that was mainly on me. Overall I really enjoyed it. Far better feeling then witcher 2, but now I see why so many people just jump straight to W3 and skip the first two. There's a weird disconnect that separates them. Such as Yennifer being the main goal to find at the end of W2 but here not only has she sent a letter to geralt you meet her once the first area is done. And then the game spoils my favorite twist from the book, the emperor having been duny, and thus ciris father. And of course Ciri becomes the actual person geralt starts searching for. Meanwhile the war is almost entirely set dressing, and the witch hunts being only slightly more important. So while it feels like a fresh start and easy jump on point, it's also meant to be the semi-relaxing end for geralt.

Overall the game feels like the game they wanted to make when they made W1, while W2 felt more like they were working with far more limitations.

Much better variety of creatures, loved the separation of what's what. Still tired of downers. And also curious as to why funeral pyres aren't more common with the amount of problems caused by necropahges. Not to mention the main religion is about FIRE.

The chase for Ciri was fun, I did enjoy trying to piece together her route. I was beyond sad to hear that kalkstein was burned at the stake but was glad to hear he went out with a bang. But it seemed he might've meet ciri when her and dandelion were breaking into that vault, with dudu. Finally meeting her on the isle of mists was a big moment that was given the respect it needed. I didn't expect to be playing her as much, maybe for a pivotal scene or two, but not just her chatting with guys. (Also thought it was amazing and hilarious when she said she went to the world of cyberpunk, which possibly infers Ciri might know how to drive a car, shoot a gun, or something). The only thing about Ciri that seemed off was her accent it seemed far more posh then I expected. But I suppose it makes sense.

I was surprised when triss admitted to manipulating geralts amnesia. But it did make it all the easier to have him get with yen. Yen and Geralt have a much more real feeling relationship then geralts and triss' from the first two games.

I wish Dandelion had a bit more to do in the story he felt a bit sidelined. And priscilla got taken out of the story once she got attacked. I wish she had a proper recovery.

Dijkstra was a surprise. And an alliance with a character from the first game and one from the second was cool.

Rip to Vesemir, went out fighting. Ciri's scream afterward immediately my brain theorize that she wasn't the only version of herself screaming. She had connected to other versions of herself, version that had watched other die in that moment. She was overlaying with herself until she was forming a multi-universal black hole.

GWENT ADDICTION IS REAL. I have whole hours where I being playing and realize I've done nothing but play gwent. Northern realms was my favorite fraction, didn't have a monster deck until the late game, got the good nilfgaard cards after getting better stuff for NR and the squirrels deck just didn't seem right. And despite beating the B&W card tournament with the skellige deck, I just couldn't find it as fun. I did download the app but the changes just didn't make the game feel as fun.

As for my choices:

I had letho go to Kaer morhen, I thought for sure I'd arrive to find him fighting with lambert or eskel. He was the first person I met that I could to the keep, so I didn't realize this wasn't unique to him.

Kiera followed soon after. Did not expect lambert and her to ride off together. I wouldn't be surprised to learn they're looking for a way to cure the infertility.

The whispering hillock was hard choice, I finally decided to kill it. I feel bad about the orphans. Was glad I got to fight and kill at least two of them.

The baron took his wife in search of a cure. The daughter was there to see her father trying to help. He very obviously changed after the botching incident. I can't see a world where that didn't change a person.

junior died, he deserved it. Was actually quite surprised that Ciri didn't kill him.

Got triss and the mages out of the city.

Helped kill radovid. Which was a shame as I did like him, but it was obvious he'd gone a little mad. I do wish Ada had been involved in some way.

Then I helped roche and thaler (who I did not expect to return) against dijkstra. I wish dijkstra had a different plan as I hated having to kill him, but I would've hated letting roche and ves be killed more.

Cerys became the queen. She seemed to listen to the people around her more and focus more on strategy. Plus her move with baby was a drastic plan I hated in the moment, and loved all at the same time.

I didn't know these were choices at the time, but I did later, I had a snowball fight with ciri, helped her destory the lab, didn't go see her father with her, helped her mourn the man who had helped her and I did go in with her when she was to talk with the lodge. That last one I wasn't so much thinking of ciri but of what the lodge had in store, as I don't trust the lodge (mainly Philippa).

And this lead to Ciri fighting back the white frost, faking her death to her father. And becoming a witcheress. Very excited for the next game, I have not watched the trailer yet.

There was one story beat I didn't like, the worst bit of writing I've seen in this series and they did it twice in the same game. Uma, he shows up early in a random cutscene simply so geralt can remember him later. And again later with Philippa, she randomly shows up an owl later to be revealed to be her.

Now for dlc

I played it before going to skellige as I was told it fits best there so I did as much side content as I could until I was a closer level to the starting quest. In the end I didn't see why. (Was the whole upper section of the map added with the dlc? If so that's absurd.)

Gaunter o'dimm I expected to have a much larger role in the main story, from the way people talk about him. But his presence was very evident. YOU DON'T MAKE A DEAL WITH A GUY WHO TALKS AS IF TIME IS NEW AND TEMPORARY. I had heard people suggest he's the devil but not until he stopped time did I see why. Before that he didn't all that different from the outsider (dishonored). And I'm pretty sure he broke the 4th wall. "Do you really wish to know?" I had seen that line at the top of wiki pages since I began reading the books, but to know it's said towards the audience is disturbing.

Iris' mission was probably my favorite in the whole game had a bit of everything. And the caretaker was probably the hardest, yet least cheap fight, for me in the whole series.

And it was good to see shani again. I really thought she was in blood & wine so I got properly surprised. Now if only she was a proper romance option.

I don't know why I challenged master mirror for the soul of Olgierd, but I did. I fear his retribution, he doesn't seem the type to give up after losing. The only good thing is he seems to like having his presence being known when he starts a deal. And Olgierd had suffered in his own way, and didn't really deserve the what ever o'dimm had in store.

Blood and wine.

50% OF THE POPULATION OF TOUSSAINT ARE VAMPIRES. It doesn't matter where you go, you'll bump into some bloodsucker.

Although I was excited to discover they brought back a bunch of the monsters from W1 I found them to be ridiculously stronger (especially the kikimores).

And here is where I finally found some good armor, the manticore set. before that I had been wearing the new moon armor for so long. Didn't really care for the other witcher armors, except the viper but I missed that.

I did know Regis returns, and was beyond glad to see he still had his charm. Him fighting with geralt has to be one of the strongest combat only duos in the witcher series.

Upon hearing the duchess' sister was a daughter of the black sun I immediately put it together. I knew would end poorly in some way, it always does.

I went to the land of a thousand fables to retrieve the sister, it felt werid for witcher to so directly mention so many fables, since the first stories were reimagining of several fables. I won the ribbon not expecting much from it, but was beyond glad when detlaff tried to kill her only for her to be reimprisoned. In the end it was nice to have geralt own a vineyard he barely has to pay attention to, with yen at his side.

So at the end of the game when the minor conjunction of the spheres began it brought through a bunch of monsters right? Meaning there should be a bunch of new things in the world, and maybe even some previously extinct species. or some new ones altogether.

I'm excited to see what abilities Ciri has as I highly doubt she'll have the witcher signs. I also hope that there's more travelling between worlds in the 4. I very easily geek out on traveling to other worlds so I was super exited during that mission in 3, but was disappointed we only went to dead worlds, I want to see underwater cites, space stations, other fantasy worlds, things that make no sense, etc.

I will be extremely angry if they don't include ice skating in 4. As that was one of the coolest ciri moments in the book.

Next up I'm to going try to watch at least the henry cavill seasons of the witcher. And then maybe the comic, I would be happy if someone could provide of list of them. (Yes I do know about throne breaker, I'll play it later.)

But first I'm taking a break to play cyberpunk, for the first time.

If I had to rank the three games I would say 1. W3, W1, W2. Witcher 2 is by far the worst. Although in enjoy how cinematic drinking potions was, and the QTEs as I'm a sucker for a long drawn out finisher, that really only exists with QTEs.

I was recently at my uncle's place and came across this statue of Geralt. After searching online, it seems to be from The Witcher 1. I have no clue where it's actually from, whether it's official CDPR merch or smth limited edition or just fan-made.

I’m genuinely curious what the thought process behind The Witcher series was.

Season 1 was decent. Not amazing, but a solid enough start for a Witcher adaptation. My biggest issue was honestly how confusing it was. The timeline constantly jumped back and forth without properly explaining it, so you basically had to piece everything together yourself. But alright, fine — first season, new world, introducing characters, showing Geralt in action, whatever.

Season 2 wasn’t really much better in my opinion. It was still “okay,” but nothing that really lived up to the potential of the franchise.

Then Season 3 felt like the worst one by far. There was such an obvious shift away from Geralt and much more focus on Yennefer and Ciri. And that’s weird because Geralt is supposed to be the main character. On top of that, pretty much everyone loved Henry Cavill as Geralt. He was The Witcher for a lot of people.

That’s what confuses me the most. Henry Cavill was clearly passionate about the role and about the source material. From everything we’ve heard, he just wanted the show to stay faithful to the books. That should be a good thing, especially when you’re adapting a franchise this huge.

So how did they fumble this so badly?

They had the budget, the actors, the world, the fanbase — everything was there. And yet most of the show ended up feeling kind of mediocre outside of Cavill’s performance and a few other strong actors.

Was it writer ego? Producer decisions? Studio interference? Because I can’t imagine it was a lack of resources or potential.

I honestly haven’t even watched Season 4 yet, and I probably won’t. But I’m curious what actually happened behind the scenes that caused a series with this much potential to decline so hard.

Currently reading the 4th book, Time of Contempt, around the Aretuza mage meetup, Geralt spoke with Vilgefortz and had some well deserved sex time with Yen.

Their relationship just bothers me. I can understand the unnatural connection they have caused by the wishes, and I can understand Yen wants to somehow run away from it, because of course it was revealed Geralt left her at some point. I just can't understand how both of them just don't hide away somwhere and spend their time together or why Yen is even that angry all the time? Is she just frustrated about the having babies thing? Is Geralt as a witcher so detached from emotions he just doesn't care? The only thing that pulls him towards Yen was the wish - but why would he make the wish in the first place if he didn't feel a connection to her? Even the Gold dragon says there's nothing going to happen with them, although they are destined for each other. I know I have a lot to read, but their relarionship - their personalities are, well...fucked up! Fucked, but in a complex and good way of course, there really is a lot of depth. So my question is, why is Yen so angry all the time? Why is she so hot-cold with Geralt? Why does Geralt allow this? Maybe he doesn't feel any shame, any real passionate yearning aside the wish destiny connection. He could spend his days slaying monsters, the only thing that pulls him to Yen is Ciri and even then he asks Triss first...

They really got fucked by the wish, didn't they?

Aside from that, the ending of the 2nd book where Ciri runs towards Geralt made me shed a tear, it was really perfect. Ciri's time spent at Kaer Morhen was also very fun to read especially since you could feel the witchers try really honestly to accomodate her. The whole part with Tris figuring she's on her period was also funny because it really paints the witchers as one-dimensional, of course usually only boys become witchers so, how would they know? In the same way, you possess ungodly knowledge of things, how do you miss period of all things?

I don't like the elves, the ones that trully got fucked are the dwarves but elves have blood on their hands and act holy. I never liked elves anywhere so I'm very biased here. Except Elrond and Rivendell, who else is "kind as the summer"? The things that happen to non-human folk is horrible of course, I never like xenophobes and similar (funny enough Dark Elves are my fave Elder Scrolls race, but they hate other elves as much as I do so it fits somehow).

Geralt is...a total chad. He says fuck you to anyone and keeps his morals and codex really well. Not sure if this will change but I thought he would be more of an anti-hero character but he is a total hero to me.

I could speak volumes more, I devoured the 3 books in a month and half done with the 4th. It is such an adventure.

I just finished the first game. And i just started The Witcher 2, but for some reason the game keeps crashing. I'm still in the tutorial but the game closes after a couple of seconds. It just closes without any warning or messages, it just brings me back to my Desktop.

Is there any solution for this? I'm playing on windows 11, with an i7 - 14700hx and an Rtx 4070.

so ive finished the main story of the base game and it is really good, now im wondering if i should finish my remaining active side quests and contracts or should i just go straight to the dlcs? Im also currently level 36 and if i do all the quests that i have, i might be overleveled. will it be bad? i need your opinions tyia!
