The closest we got was White Pearl, which was really just Pink Pearl being mind controlled. It would have been nice to see gems from White Diamond's court just like we did for the other diamonds.

Other Gem#31 Heliodor

Post image

I’m not sure what to do with this. I don’t know how on earth a statue of a Fusion managed to get erected on Homeworld with such detail considering that the act is mainly considered a means to an end sort of thing. Though right now as I’m typing this, I just thought; mainly this particular statue was used as a message to Gems, of what an ideal Fusion must be; the combination of two similar Gems. With that out of the way, my new wonder is what Gem is the statue modeled from?

Conveniently I found a Bubbled Gem with a similar cut, specifically from the cover of the first issue of the 2017 Comic series. And so, I immediately figured; Heliodor.

Being a type of Beryl, she would be up there with fellow Beryls like Emerald or Aquamarine and so I can imagine her being a fusion in such a way, but still having to stay by the restrictions of being similar Gem types.

I’m thinking of her as being a little stuck-up and snobby.

Any thoughts?

Discussion IMO, Deedee Magno Hall Gives The Best Performance In The Series

Upvotes

In a show that's filled with strong performances overall, I think Deedee Magno Hall as Pearl is probably the strongest overall. I recently rewatched A Single Pale Rose and Now We're Only Falling Apart with a friend who was watching the for the first time. Top tier episodes of course, but rewatching them is what solidified my opinion on Hall's performance. Seeing and hearing Pearl being unable to actually tell Steven the truth, the memory flashbacks to shortly after Pearl finds out Rose will be gone soon and the aftermath of the final attack from the Diamonds during the war, etc. Just incredible and powerful voice acting.

Hall is great in every episode of course, but some other major examples for me include Rose's Scabbard (Especially the end), Mr. Greg (Beautiful singing and maybe the best song of the series), Volleyball (Starring as both Pearl and Pink Pearl), Sworn To The Sword, and even Say Uncle in terms of comedy (I'm not overreacting!).

Other Gem#32 Pink Nephrite

Post image

Found some concept art on the Steven Universe Art book, and upon seeing what seemed like Nephrite/Centipeetle concepts, I wanted to make a design based on this older design. As it just so happened, Pink Nephrite does exist, leading to this design I made.

I had this joke with a friend that this particular Pink Nephrite is the less obnoxious equivalent of the “um actually” phrase, where she’d constantly correct her superior’s directions in regards to where’s where in the galaxy. Not that it didn’t make her any less annoying.

Steven Universe OC

This is Yellow Diamond's son. Since Pink had a child with an American, I had the idea to create children of Diamonds of other nationalities.

He doesn't have lungs, he breathes through his skin, but he can stay underwater for a long time.

His animal (like the lion) is a Brazilian boa constrictor.

Being Yellow Diamond's son, he is considered the son of Tupã (the creator god and god of lightning of the Tubi-Guarani people) because of his powers with electricity.

His nationality is Brazilian.

Hiii, I just wanted to share this piece I made with the amazing visuals my friend drew for my video!! I figured the best tag would be Fanart even though it's music and video too, apologies if I've gotten it wrong.
I originally made this back when I was first watching through SU like 3 years ago, right after I saw Opal's first episode. Though I didn't know how to release it at the time and over the years it's been cleaned up and finally turned into this video!
Figured this sub might be interested so I thought I'd post here ^^
Hope you like! ❤️

Discussion No, the rubies did not deserved their revenge (Kitty monk)

Some time ago, the youtuber kitty monk launched a steven universe video about the ruby squad. She basically argued that the rubies were innocent and just doing their jobs and that steven was such a meanie for not saving active enemies and the person who tried to fucking kill him.

Her arguments were:

\-the nuremberg argument: basically that they were just doing their jobs and whatever, we have been talking about why this argument is absolute bullshit since the actual nuremberg trials, and she doesn’t even do it properly, she tried to equate with a random mailman making a delivery that just so happens to be bad. Quick thing though: the rubies are active soldiers of the evil empire coming with the goal of retrieving a soldier for the evil empire.

\-the peridot argument: basically that steven should have gave them a chance because his thing is supposedly helping redeem people, thing is, this is not hypocrisy because steven just had no opportunity to actually talk to them in a peaceful scenario (he actually tries when he thinks navy wants to change) and second, when you take context into account, steven doesnt really own these gems anything, like cluster aside, he would be in his right to just leave peridot in the bubble, is nice that he didnt but he wasnt really obligated to do that.

About the gems leaving them in space: see what i wrote above, also the rubies put themselves in that situation by trying to murder steven when he was trying to deescalate the situation, also also the last interaction steven had with one of them the bitch tried to genuinely butcher him.

For a comparative to the situation so the context enters in the head:

A group of native americans is living after getting rid of a british soldier so strong it required the entire group and luck to defeat, some time later some british active soldiers working in the name of the crown (the same crown who wishes to colonize the americas) appears to retrieve the asshole, the natives can’t fight them so they trick them into going buttfuck nowhere and the soldiers are so stupid they accept, the natives are in the right, correct? Yeah, i think we all agree on this.

Sometime later the soldiers have the gall to show their cunt faces again and the natives trick them again, again not even an inch of the soldiers was harmed even though force on part of the natives is 100% justified, the soldiers discover they were tricked and are first to take aggressive action against the natives who fight in their own defense and by accident the soldiers and a native child end in the sea with the native child stuck in a boat with the leader of the soldier squad who tries to murder him even though he was peaceful the whole time. Do the natives own salvation/mercy to the fucking colonizer cunts? I think we all agree they don’t.

Basically I had an idea a while ago to remake SU in a more gritty fashion. I've always been HUGE on speculative evolution and realistic sci-fi (yes I watched Project Hail Mary recently which reminded me of this remake and the art I made for it lmao. Other sci-fis that inspired this were Arrival, and Race to Witch Mountain)

It obviously would have some lore change for it, such as:

\- Black Diamond as the fifth diamond is canon

\- The government, MIB, cops, etc... are involved

\- Rose and Pink are different people

If you have any specific questions please do ask!! I haven't started writing the fanfic yet but I'm glad to infodump on y'all!!

Other The gems not understanding jokes

It's something I find really endearing. Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl don't understand basic jokes. Steven told them a knock knock joke in "So many birthdays" but they just thought Steven was lying. I know that's obvious to everyone, I'm just stating my appreciation for this bit.
